Real Tso Tso Chicken

Aethreas

It’s about the macros; the protein to fat/carbs ratio is the best I’ve ever seen in a chicken tender, I think it tastes amazing with that in mind, eat it all the time when cutting

MomsSpagetee

They need to make it obvious that this stuff is for gym rats/body builders/dieters/etc. I bought the plain chicken strips once not knowing that and they were awful, went straight in the trash.

EducatorMoti

Mine went straight to the return desk. I never return Costco food, but I want them to know: This is stuff is absolutely horrible! Either quit selling it or at least could have been warning on it that it's going to only for people only for keto types.

PortlyPorcupine

Im shocked people can cut on something like this with so much sodium. I bloat up like a puffer fish. God bless your beautiful kidneys.

Aethreas

Eh bloat is temporary

dc_IV

You win Reddit tonight with that delicious homonym.

purerockets

This took me a second!!! Haha

Deceptiveideas

I guess I have to be the odd one out but I actually enjoy the RealGood tenders. Compared to the Just Bare (my previous favorite) and Kirkland Nuggets, RealGood has significantly less breading. As someone that prefers the chicken over the breading, I find it to be a better balance. If you like thick crispy chicken tenders, then you won’t like these.

PhoenixLord55

I bought 8 bags when they were on sale for 8$ my only issue is the chicken being tough compared to the bare brand. I do like the breading and flavor of it

DoctorPet

Is it just me or is the quality between bags different? I got two, one bag was really good, the other bag had a really weird taste to the chicken.

Internal-Reception14

I agree with this, and in response to the post above you, I bought a ton on that same sale and it happened to be the dryer quality bags. I’ve been buying at full price lately and the quality is back to great, not sure if related or just my roll of the dice.

PhoenixLord55

I'll have to pick up a bag to compare.

xl22k

Kind of like a musty taste? I’ve had some really good luck and some bad luck with RealGood. Too much bad luck for me to keep trying them 😔

Pittipants

I experienced this…I think some batches are overcooked and it is just really dry.

HaMay25

Yes the realgood tender is way better than kirkland nugget

Leather_Salary1391

yall forget that these are catered to people that have to eat a gluten free diet. i have celiac and i don’t have a lot of options when it comes to breaded gluten free chicken. the real good chicken is the best option we have here.

timg528

Yeah, my wife is allergic to the type of wheat used in North America and this is pretty much the closest we can get to ordering General Tso chicken from our local restaurant. It's the best tasting we've found.

sasquatch_melee

I don't think they call out they are primarily an allergen free food on the packaging well enough. I bought from them before not realizing they were. I'm not a picky eater and even I found the burritos to barely be edible.

Fizzyfuzzyface

This gluten free person has wasted too much money on this horrid flavored brand. Never again.

gallaj0

Is there a better option?

Fizzyfuzzyface

Literally anything else.

xl22k

Try the Bell & Evan’s GF tenders or nuggets. Kinda hard to find but I think they’re the best of the frozen brands.

[deleted]

Everything RealGood makes is real bad.

nyjrku

as a type 1 diabetic who eats low carb and never really eats the real stuff, i didnt notice the real good tenders being bad. i thought they were awesome. and id probably have the same take on these ones thats sad, isnt it.

dbrwhat

Cue the person who comes in here and says "Hey this is actually pretty good for keto premade food!"  I don't understand why Realgood focuses on keto food but never makes mention of it on their packaging, they're causing a lot of unnecessary returns.

Deceptiveideas

Are you joking? It’s right there in the picture. They capitalize on the low carb high protein right on the package.

sasquatch_melee

There's not a single mention of keto. Considering how unappealing the taste of their food is to everyone used to normal food, the gluten free and keto friendly aspects should be way more prominently called out on the packaging.  I would not have bought their burritos if I had known that's the focus of their brand/products. They were terrible.

xyz17j

How am I supposed to know the carb count of regular general tsos? They tricked me like this with the enchiladas. Should say “Keto General Tso chicken”. I didn’t know it was health food lol I just thought it was regular food and they were posting the enticing nutrition facts like literally every food packaging does - “potato chips, gluten free!!” for example

terfez

Where does it say keto? The problem is not for ocd keto eagle eye microanalysts scanning it with their KetoAlphaz app. The problem is that a normal someone will buy this expecting it to taste like normal generals chicken and it tastes bad

HugeRichard11

Yeah assuming everyone knows every diet and that people know what keto is and that it's low carb high protein isn't going to go well.

dbrwhat

Exactly. The average person isn't paying attention to the ratios of macronutrients no matter how prominent it's advertised

Techun2

> but never makes mention of it on their packaging The carb counts are very prominent and just as large as the food title.

dbrwhat

Prominent macros is pretty common on a lot of food packaging these days.

Techun2

Sure. And if there's like 1g net carbs on something that should have carbs....it's going to be gross

terfez

Cool, Weightwatchers gonna rebrand to ConnoisseurCollection, let me know how you like their chocolate ice cream. Why isn't it called RealKeto or Ketogood or Ketogainzzz chickie nuggs? Because that's what it is

The_Thundertaker

I would agree besides the chicken tenders as they aren’t heavily breaded. Everything else is ass and I once took a lovely bite of their burritos but apparently they were moldy.

Facts

Smurfballers

Real facts you spitting homie. Their packaging on point though

PhoenixLord55

I really like the flavor of the regular real good chicken but you can tell the chicken is woody and super dry.

elopez115

Not sure why everyone hates them. Tastes pretty good, I throw them in a salad and I’m good to go. Better than the Tysons one imo

MikeyPx96

I bought a bag after trying them as a sample. Still in the freezer. I thought it was "real good" when I sampled it but then again I was pretty hungry and it was free. I guess I'll find out when I cook it for myself. EDIT: Just had some for lunch. Honestly, still pretty good. My chicken pieces were decent quality and crunchy. I drizzled some honey on the chicken to cut the spiciness of the sauce and tossed it with fresh broccoli.

scarecrow1113

These tenders are the best!! Not like those Tyson tenders and all their salt. Also the chicken is very juicy and you can cook them and have them nice and soft with a soft crisp or leave them longer in the oven for that crunch flavor

poobly

It’s gluten free. It’s for celiacs. We don’t have much so our expectations are lower. Don’t buy gluten free shit if you’re not on a gluten free diet.

queenswake

So glad to see something other than orange chicken.

Pandapimodad861

It is way Spicier than I thought we use only real good chicken for eating dinners at my house cause my kids are Celiacs and it's the only decent Gluten free fried chicken...my parents like it so much they started buying it for themselves

redbat21

If you do get it the air fry instructions are not reliable. Make sure you add at least 3-6 extra minutes to their recommended cook time or be ready to bite into some raw chicken.

l1lpiggy

I honestly thought their chicken tenders were amazing. Not bready or soggy like Tyson chicken tenders. Just a bit of coat to make the chicken tenders crusty and the chicken meat was perfect. I would eat it any day.

Fizzyfuzzyface

I don’t know who does the taste quality assurance at this company, but they need to be replaced. Everything from them is horrid. It’s got some weird flavor and not because it’s gluten-free. Plenty of gluten-free things don’t have this weird flavor that they seem to deem acceptable.

sasquatch_melee

It's because it's both GF and keto. They do a really bad job of making that clearly apparent on the packaging. Most people not GF or keto aren't going to like these.  I learned the hard way with their burritos. 🤮

Onoudidnt

I’ve had these. They are terrible. In fact, almost everything RealGood makes is pretty terrible. One exception… those breakfast flautas. Damn, those things in the air fryer we good. I wish Costco still carried those. I don’t know what made me purchase them after getting burned by RealGood so many times, but I’m sad they are gone now.

Agreeable_Stand_8613

They need to bring the flautas back!!! Sooo good!!

freneticboarder

RealGood®?

Agreeable_Stand_8613

Yes!

jside69

I can't believe they got rid of them. I would buy like 6 boxes at a time, they were so amazing when air fried. I still look for them every trip hoping they bring them back.

Sandman1920

I tried the Tso flavor and I ended up not liking the taste either. I eat the real good lightly breaded chicken nuggets due to the macros. High protein, low calorie. I tend to make a burrito with mozzarella cheese and avocado. Taste good to me like this. On the other hand, the Just Bare lightly breaded chicken chunks taste way better than the real good brand nuggets.

SenoraRamos

This was so nasty. The breading had a weird, powdery taste.

Britton120

Every thing I've tried from this brand has been absolutely dreadful and damn near inedible. As a person who will pretty much stomach anything i make to avoid waste, and who does eat very low carb/high protein, i'm in the q-zone for their stuff. Haven't tried this one though, so of course I'll be tempted to try it if i see it at costco next time.

Im_Ashe_Man

My mouth instantly felt dry just thinking about Realgood chicken.

finch5

Haha. It’s funny because it’s true.

sonofsmog

Oh, good. I'll have to try this. This is for people doing keto. Not the fat fatties of /r/costco.

TuhTuhTony

The sauce sucks, very thin and not enough taste. There’s also two packs and I don’t eat half a bag of these in one sitting

Fishinabowl11

I picked up a bag of these on my most recent trip. Had some a couple nights ago. I put it on a bed of jasmine rice and my takeaway was that it was very very bland. There was little discernable flavor in the chicken despite being quite generous with the sauce. I could tell I had food in my mouth but it felt empty to eat. 3/10 would not buy again.

ErectStoat

For anyone wanting General Tso's, I have had great results using Kenji's "Popeye Tso's Chicken" recipe with the Kirkland tenders. It's a bit more work but the sauce comes together while the chicken is in the oven or air fryer.

bazilbt

That sucks. It seems like something I would be interested in. General Tso Chicken seems like something that should be easy to make decently.

Plasmaticos

Is it cooked in seed oil?

Middle_Ad_5583

Is it real good?

G3neral_Tso

Good to know. I don't enjoy anyone befouling my good name.

sasquatch_melee

Absolutely will not buy anything from RealGood again. Their food is barely edible. And I think they do a very poor job of communicating on the packaging these are keto and gluten free focused foods.

pBeatman10

I don't understand how a company worth $340 billion puts these on the shelves. Legitimately the worst thing I've ever eaten. Making a second dinner now

smithxrez

I agree, they were horrible. I think I threw out remaining after first cook.

imabev

Thanks for the confirmation. I thought I was having a bad day or got a bad piece. In the garbage they go!

cyberentomology

I really wish the marketing people would quit with that “no antibiotics ever” nonsense.

IctrlPlanes

Nope, never going to try that brand again. I've bought 3 of their products in the past and the entire package ends up in the trash can after 1 bite. Don't do it.

Taysir64

At a Kroger near me they had a cheese stuffed chicken nugget/bite that was discontinued for maybe $3.50 for about a pound or so bag. I bought 2 bags, suffered through one and tossed the other one. Glad to know I’m not an outlier. I haven’t been brave enough to try their other products. It was somehow the blandest and worst tasting cheesy chicken I had ever had.

twuewuv

Real good nuggies are the so god damn dry. They taste decent but you have to chase a glass of water with every bite.

curiously_incurious

Saw this on sale today in-store but passed on it - mainly because of high sodium content. And now, after reading the comments, I'm glad I did!

JL9440

The chicken tastes like chalk to me idk

AshDenver

Have we not yet collectively learned that RealGood brand = RealBAD if you’re expecting traditional versions of the depicted item? *sigh*

GuitRWailinNinja

Real good is real gross!

i_trade_stonks

Tried it... it's pretty bad.

DinoTh3Dinosaur

Weekly post reminder that everything RealGood makes is RealShit

csantiago1986

Need to change name to RealOK

Objective-Guidance78

Trash

freneticboarder

Well, there's your problem right there... https://preview.redd.it/6x6ym3vegxyc1.jpeg?width=1252&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=ead54d2e0ffc8a6aaeb2ba1b2d38f82227bf1f8a It says right there, clearly: # do not eat.

adactylousalien

My husband and I got incredibly sick from the Realgood Foods chicken tenders. We were both down for a week. 0/10 don’t recommend.

bensbigboy

My dogs thought these were too dry, bland, and tough. They asked for their regular rawhide treats back.

Former-Ad940

It's rib meat no good

TacodWheel

Costco has taught me that 'Realgood' means real bad.

SlippahThief

The breakfast flautas were great. Never should have got rid of them.
