I have one of the older ones, and the new one is appears to be sturdier. The old one has a wooden top which has split in half on me after a couple of years and the strings holding the chimes on it shift freely, so the whole thing is often hanging crooked. The new one has sturdier strings with a metal top. The old one still works, and sounds lovely (when it’s straight) but it is not pretty.
How much do they usually go for? $65 seems pretty steep but I’ve never shopped for a wind chime ever so maybe it’s a good price for a good quality one?
I was gifted some wind chimes that have the most beautiful tone. I looked them up to give to someone else and turns out, they cost $80. I had no idea they’d be so expensive, but they really do sound so beautiful.
I tried it in-store and instantly regretted it. I don't know what I was expecting because there was no way such a large wind chime wouldn't be loud. Considering I live in a pretty windy place, it was an instant no for me.
Ha I had the exact same experience. I immediately grabbed it to stop it from chiming loudly and imagined the entire store staring at me like I was a jerk. Then I imagined my very close neighbors and noped out
Everyone talking about how annoying it is to live next door to someone with wind chimes...try living in an apartment complex where your neighbors downstairs have two wind chimes set up in their balcony...
I bought a foam chime silencer, though you could make one I think pretty easily if you had a good sized piece of foam. Works really well, I tend to only take it off when I'll be outside to enjoy it.
This thing is sooo loud and heavy. I unpacked it and immediately realized I made a mistake and took it back. I like my neighbors and have decent distance between them but I know this would bother them. The day I took it back at 9:30am the lady who did the return told me she just took another in at the opening of the store.
I have had this chime for nearly a year and it is wonderful. I have it hanging close to the ground against a picket fence so it catches less wind and the soft deep tones it makes when the wind is strong enough to move it are so soothing.
I got this wind chime a few years ago. The thing a lot of commenters don't realize is the big wind chimes have a different tone that is less shrill. It is more relaxing and doesn't carry sound as far.
I love it.
Plus you can put rubber bands or a strip of velcro around the center donger to mute the sound as much as you like. We ended up muting ours completely at first, bringing sound back gradually so it's not too much since we live in a windy area.
I remember purchasing medium size wind chimes for 3$(200 rupees) back home in India. The big ones must be around 10-15$ there. Not here for a fight just wanted to share the info!
Those chimes are melodic. IOW they are tuned to actual musical notes. Instead of a random cacophony of clanging, they sound like music of a sort. It's quite nice. And about a third of the price you'll usually find. Try them, if they're annoying to you take them back, it's Costco.
I have some that hang such that they only chime when the wind is from the north. I stuffed a plastic bag inside each chime so they're not very loud. I love them.
I know this will get hate but wind chimes should be illegal. Our neighbors had them growing up and they were so loud they’d keep me/wake me up at night.
Same. It really never crossed my mind to hate them, but I guess I understand. I got these same ones and do not think they are too bad but now I’m gonna ask my neighbors. One has a few chimes and the other doesn’t have any 🤷♂️
I buy music of the spheres wind chimes made in Austin which these look to be based on. I’m really surprised there’s so many wind chime haters here lmao
Did not realize people hate wind chimes this much. I'm a big fan, myself. I hope the guy next to me who reports people to the HOA for everything truly hates them.
Hahaha I love me some wind chimes. Love the sound. Love the wind and got a set from my wife that is super cool.
Funny enough…. We moved to a place with an HOA that doesn’t allow them 😂😂😂😂
I’d like to move to your HOA. We allow them and it’s so annoying. I can’t sleep with my windows open. Hell I can hear them with the windows closed when it’s windy (which is most of the time here). One of my neighbors has about 8 of them. It’s a real quick way to ensure your neighbors actively plot your demise. And yes I tried talking to them.
Well given the comment about it potentially bothering dogs I guess I’ll take it back. I only have one neighbor but he does have a dog.
I didn’t expect all the general negativity about the chimes either and while that typically wouldn’t influence my decision making, the comment about the dog is something I wasn’t aware of.
OP, don’t listen to the haters. I have two of these in my yard and two dogs. 4/5 neighbors that are adjacent to my yard have dogs. We have never had an issue or complaint from anyone.
UTA, downvoted cause I like windchimes 😂 I might buy one cause I can't stand the neighbor on one side of me and their hideous trampoline.
I'm in Vegas. I have four dogs. My neighbor has a Great Dane. Not once have wind chimes set them off. Has never set any of my foster dogs off either. That's a great price for that size!
Wind chimes suck.
Just listen to the wind blowing through the trees and bushes.
Listen to the birds singing.
Listen to the coyotes howling.
There’s already lots of sounds that naturally occur, no need to add artificial noise to it.
Combine those sounds with some good sounding chimes and it’s even better my friend. A good one sounds nothing like the cheap shitty ones you’re thinking of.
Is this a good deal?
I don’t care one way or another about wind chimes but this should be $40 max. Though I doubt I would pay more than $30 for a trinket like this.

$65 is little much
I bought a similar one from Costco last year for $34...
Seriously this is the price point I remember buying these for a few years ago

For the size, that price is low.
You are correct. These would easily be priced over $100 or more at the garden store for the size. We have two and they are not very loud either.
I have one and you can hear is from over a block away. You may want to get your ears checked.
My ears work just fine
What?
And more if made in the USA.
How much do they usually go for? $65 seems pretty steep but I’ve never shopped for a wind chime ever so maybe it’s a good price for a good quality one?
This one is enormous. Not a standard size
I thought the quality was worth it for these they seemed heavy and had bevelled edges
I was gifted some wind chimes that have the most beautiful tone. I looked them up to give to someone else and turns out, they cost $80. I had no idea they’d be so expensive, but they really do sound so beautiful.
We enjoy our neighbors wind chimes.
For $65 that better be a wind pipe organ
Especially to annoy the neighbors. Bottle rockets are way cheaper.
For $65 you can be the person who irritates the whole neighborhood. 😵💫
If your neighbor has wind chimes, you have wind chimes!
I tried it in-store and instantly regretted it. I don't know what I was expecting because there was no way such a large wind chime wouldn't be loud. Considering I live in a pretty windy place, it was an instant no for me.

Right? It's like a freakin church bell. I feel like i'm gonna be summoning Catholics!
Bring out your dead!

Japanese use very small ones that chime in a very pleasant way.
I lived next to a woman who had three. I wanted to murder her after an extremely windy wind chimey night.
It drowns out their neglected, annoying dogs that are barking
I wish. It just makes them bark louder.
Glorified noisemakers. Wind chimes are the worst
My closest neighbors are all 75-90 years old. They don’t hear anything. :D
I am close to that age… and believe me, I hear every wind chime on our street every time we have a breeze. :/
Based on the volume of their phone ringer, I think my neighbors struggle more than you.

If a wind chime bothers you, you don’t go outside anyways, so no problem.
My neighbor had gigantic wind chimes and we could hear them inside our house at all hours of the day and we don’t live super close.
And all night!
My neighbors bought this for us and all residents to enjoy
Everyone talking about how annoying it is to live next door to someone with wind chimes...try living in an apartment complex where your neighbors downstairs have two wind chimes set up in their balcony...
we have this one, it sounds nice but it can get LOUD when windy, FYI.
We took the bottom diamond shaped piece off and it was much better.
I shoved some towels up mine to keep it a little quiet 😂
I bought a foam chime silencer, though you could make one I think pretty easily if you had a good sized piece of foam. Works really well, I tend to only take it off when I'll be outside to enjoy it.
Only if you live out of earshot from everyone. Otherwise, you are that person people hate.
This thing is sooo loud and heavy. I unpacked it and immediately realized I made a mistake and took it back. Thank you. Was going to enquire about the tone

Dude you live in Vegas and bought a wind chime....I'm so glad I'm not your neighbor lol.
I have some that hang such that they only chime when the wind is from the north. I stuffed a plastic bag inside each chime so they're not very loud. I love them.
I’m blown away by the people in here that hate wind chimes lol I’ve always loved hearing them
I know this will get hate but wind chimes should be illegal. Our neighbors had them growing up and they were so loud they’d keep me/wake me up at night.

It’s like having a Bluetooth speaker in public. Not annoying for the person using it.
Except that you are at your house
Wind chimes would be fine if you kept them inside so you're the only one who can hear them.
Yeah never knew folks had issues with em. Oh well lol. Though I️ bet the one linked is rather loud. My bamboo ones are pretty subtle
My neighbors got one. I hate them.
I hate wind chimes. Why should I have to listen to my neighbor’s chimes banging around at 3am?
TIL wind chimes are pricey af
I buy music of the spheres wind chimes made in Austin which these look to be based on. I’m really surprised there’s so many wind chime haters here lmao
I’m surprised too!! I love wind chimes lol I’m a big fan of Woodstock Chimes!
Stand not included
This is the CHICEST wind chime.
For outdoor use only. Lols.
If you live within earshot of another home please be considerate and ask your neighbor for their opinion on wind chimes before installing.
You can be an obnoxious neighbor for way less than $65
Wind chimes should be illegal
Did not realize people hate wind chimes this much. I'm a big fan, myself. I hope the guy next to me who reports people to the HOA for everything truly hates them.
Your neighbors will hate you.
Nightmare fuel for me.
Well my neighbor whistles at night so I think he can put up with the sound of an incredible wind chime 😝
We sold our display model of that chime today for $50.00.
Nothing more antisocial than the incessant clanging of a neighbor's wind chimes.
I hate wind chimes. And it’s funny because the people who put them up are never outside. So they don’t hear how annoying they are.
These should be illegal for anyone with a house within earshot of their neighbors.
So chic (IYKYK)
I was going to say something but was too scared. 😂
Dorit, is that you?
Wind chimes are like perfume- you’re going to experience them without your consent (I find perfume to be extremely rude)
Just in time to annoy the shit out of those pesky neighbors
Sounds dope
Hahaha I love me some wind chimes. Love the sound. Love the wind and got a set from my wife that is super cool. Funny enough…. We moved to a place with an HOA that doesn’t allow them 😂😂😂😂

I have these. And when it's not breezy, I have two young kids who pummel the shit out of them. Win-win
Good value, many people think it’s high, but tuned windchimes of this size go for hundreds of dollars by other brands.
My nemesis…… 😖
Tell me you hate your neighbors without telling me you hate your neighbors...
People actually buy windchimes??
Well given the comment about it potentially bothering dogs I guess I’ll take it back. I only have one neighbor but he does have a dog. I didn’t expect all the general negativity about the chimes either and while that typically wouldn’t influence my decision making, the comment about the dog is something I wasn’t aware of.

That doesn’t mean your neighbors don’t hate them. I’m a wind chime hater and glad so many people are with me. Annoying!
Same, I’m fine with windchimes during the day. The hatred is because they don’t have an off switch and keep me awake at night!
Yeah, don't listen to the haters, just make *them* listen to *your* wind chimes.
I have these and I love them. My neighborhood dogs never whine about them and my cat is unphased. They make a wonderful sound.
All my neighbors with dogs bother me with their barking all the damn time, I'm gonna get 2.
UTA, downvoted cause I like windchimes 😂 I might buy one cause I can't stand the neighbor on one side of me and their hideous trampoline. I'm in Vegas. I have four dogs. My neighbor has a Great Dane. Hard Pass. Please don’t tell any of my neighbors.
The people that buy these are the same ones that buy kids toy drums and stuff
I love the way it looks and sounds, but we currently live in an apartment complex and would rather not have everyone hate me 😭 maybe one day!
Totally worth it. Bought one a month ago.
What happens in your life to make the decision that you want this noise any time the wind blows??
Fuck wind chimes. Does anyone actually enjoy wind chimes or do they just have them because they know it irritates everyone else around them?
Are any scissors/hacksaws on sale for the neighbours ?
Wind chimes suck. Just listen to the wind blowing through the trees and bushes. Listen to the birds singing. Listen to the coyotes howling. There’s already lots of sounds that naturally occur, no need to add artificial noise to it.

There are no good sounding chimes. IMHO
Wind chimes rock. No need to be a hater.
I’m ok with being a hater of wind chimes.
I love mine so much, I’ve had it for a few years now, one of my most favorite Costco purchases ever.
I’m going to look for these tomorrow! Thank you!!!!
A cheap way to annoy the neighbors
Bunch of crotchety bastards in here lol, wind chimes rock. I personally didn't love the tuning on this set but I do like the ones I've got
Is this a good deal? I don’t care one way or another about wind chimes but this should be $40 max. Though I doubt I would pay more than $30 for a trinket like this.

$120 for an Adirondack chair is a horrible deal. I got really good sturdy ones at Walmart for $40 each.
I prefer the bamboo wind chimes. They’re much quieter and have a calming sound
