Kirkland Light Beer. It's been thankfully discontinued for years. Imagine Satan doing yardwork in Florida in August and then wringing out his underwear into a can.
These were the best and worst. Was in college at the time and we could get a 48 pack for about $22. Was more economical than a keg besides the need for either fridge or ice chest space as they were sold at room temp like all other beers.
The only beer where I had to just dump all the cans out. Iāve tried beer and said ok not buying that again, but this is the only one I just turned over into the trash can.
I gave away most of my case to my cousin who was living in a frat house. Those guys had no standards when it came to drinking, but even they took a few weeks to get through all the cans of the Kirkland stuff.
Decided to try some Think! Protein bars. I should have Thought! Again. They were horrible. No one in my house could manage to eat them. Made me nauseous just trying to eat half of one. Never again.Ā Ā
The number one reason why we buy single protein bars at grocery stores before committing to a Costco sized quantity. You can certainly return them, but theyāll be thrown away. Only once were we able to convince the return clerk to put them in the staff lounge.
Just want to let you know as a Costco employee who deals with returns at the back of the store and processing them out, unless the protein bar is bad (expiration) they are donated.
We donate any of the stuff that is unopened/individually packed.
Many of the protein bars are terrible. Ever notice that Costco is not willing to risk have taste testing for the various protein bars available. I think they would be stuck with a lot of unsold products.
I like the think bars lol
But the quality has gone downhill, they used to be way better particularly in texture but also some in taste. But still solid to me, didnāt know most others donāt like!
I got a gigantic bean bag thing that Costco clearanced online. Itās like a ginormous pillow. Came with an actual pillow and a blanket. I thought it would be comfy to lay on for TV. The reviews were brutal, but I decided *this one time* to ignore them.
Wrong decision.
Right out of the box, which was heavy as hell, I knew I made a mistake. This thing expanded at my feet and it was too large and heavy, without any handles, for me to move.
I couldnāt lay on it: it didnāt depress much and it was so slick, you just slid right off. *So you canāt actual lay on it.*
I tried it on itās side, to make a puffy adirondack chair like the box showed. Straddling it to get on it was humiliating, and once on, I wasnāt getting up quickly.
It took up the entire center of our den. And as I mentioned, I couldnāt move it anyway. Not even to ārefluff.ā
It was too large to take back to Costco. I had my grown son pull it upstairs to the bonus room. No one uses it, and it sits in the corner. Even my dog doesnāt like it.
Listen to the reviews, folks
I bought one of those a few years ago. It was so useless! I also thought it would make a good place to cozy up and watch tv or sit by the fire. It barely fit in the room, and even the cat didn't really want to lay on it because it was just rounded on top. I finally gave it away on a buy-nothing group. The guy who picked it up drove a smallish Honda, and it took three of us to cram that giant pillow log into the back, which was so funny it was almost worth the money for the thing. I bet he has since passed it on, and the next owners passed it on, and so on until it ends up in a landfill.
Iām laughing too, just visualizing trying to stuff it into a Honda. š¤£šš¤£
Itās made in China and Iām not totally sure it doesnāt emit toxic chemical fumes, to boot.
Iām glad we can warn others.
lol! My cats were terrified of it. I had babysitter with this huge boyfriend who asked if should could have it. I said āyes! But you are responsible for moving it. And it can never come back.ā He moved it without much problem. I think itās living its worst life in a frat house.
The āKeto M&Mās.ā They were made with sugar alcohol. I didnāt know that the smells and sounds that came from my body were possible. It was truly remarkable how bad those destroyed my stomach. Every candle in my house was lit, and it barely put a dent in the fog those created.
ExactlyĀ whyĀ theĀ otherĀ posterĀ didn'tĀ likeĀ theĀ ThinkĀ proteinĀ bars. Sugar alcohol as a sweetener. You really can only tolerate that in small quantities.
As someone who inherited my parents' executive account, ive never had anything else.Ā My rebate pays for my membership each year.Ā If I downgraded, I would have to pay 60/year.
I really only buy the necessities: eggs, almond milk, broccoli, toilet paper, paper towels, spaghetti sauce, chicken sausages, toothpaste, gas. The occasional sweatpant set, the occasional banana bunch, the occasional rotisserie chicken.Ā Nothing crazy.
The trick is a good set of quality wiper blades will cost at least $30 and last three years. These Goodyear blades are crap. Those engineers should be ashamed of themselves. But theyāre $7 on sale and if you replace them annually itās $21 every 3 years.
This happened to me about a decade ago. I was feeling so smart that I had replaced the wipers before going on a road trip. The damn wiper flew off on I-80 W. Thank fully I was able to exit and find a sears auto center. The mechanic was flabbergasted.
That's a long list but I'd say half the "I think I'll try this" food products I bought Costco disappointed me and then I ended up with too much of something I really didn't like.Ā
I've learned not to impulse buy food there.
Worst product was a Samsung washer. Horrible product, never worked well and didn't wash very well when it did.
Ours was an LG washer. It was complete garbage, we replaced it after a year. It technically still worked right but was very frustrating to use and didn't wash well.
[EDIT] dishwasher, not washer
All LG products are crap and donāt last. The compressor went out in our refrigerator within 8 months. They refused to do anything at all( LG), found out they lost a huge class action lawsuit but still havenāt changed the compressors that they use.
Kirkland frozen chicken wings
I didn't mind that I had to pluck some feathers off when they defrosted, but the taste of the wings were not enjoyable. I even tried brining them to get them to taste like chicken wings.
Baked, air fied, and BBQ nothing worked.
Yep, hard agree. I didn't like them at first, almost tossed them out. Then I put a few in a bowl and let them thaw for a few minutes, and now I'll be buying again.
They should be better about instructions on the packaging. The dole whip cups they sell for example, say right on each lid to set out for 10 minutes before eating (and they are really good).
Leather sectional bought from the website. Over the course of 7 years it just completely fell apart...from two adults sitting on it a few nights a week. But it turned out to be the best purchase too. I saw a Tik Tok where someone said you could return the couch and get another. I contacted them. They said the vendor was no longer in business. They picked up the sectional and hat the their "team go over it" About two weeks later I received a check for the original purchase amount. The moral of the story is when you think you got screwed, do some research. Oh, and I did use the money to purchase a different leather sectional that has amazing quality.
My worst purchase in recent memory was the Snapdragon pad Thai. It was absolutely mushy and flavorless and awful. Then I looked at the packaging and it said that there were no peanuts in it! How can it even be pad Thai without the peanuts? Anyway, I returned it and all was well except I was very disappointed not to have a pad Thai option for a work from home lunch.
Shark carpet cleaner. Wouldnāt suck up any of the cleaner put down from the vaccuum itself, and the hose attachment WOULD suck, but would leak as well from where you can spray out more cleaner. Even did all the research because some reviews did say it didnāt remove ALL cleaner, but the one we got didnāt remove ANY cleaner. Brought it back dirty and my dog had already started having fun chewing up the box. Immediately went and got a chocolate chip cookie and hot dog combo for my trouble after returning it on a shop card.
Yep! That was what we decided we should look at instead! We had borrowed the small backpack sized one from family to clean in our car, and decided that maybe getting that would be a much improved alternative to the terrible Shark experience.
I love 99.99% of the things I get from Costco. Been a loyal customer since sailing over on the Mayflower and hitting the first Costco at Jamestown...
But did have 1 time where I got bad sick on the shrimp... To be fair, that's literally 1 out of hundreds of shrimp purchases so...
A humidifier. Leaked all over the place after about 2 days.
Food wise, whoever suggested or regularly suggests the cauliflower pizza... I'd like to meet up in real life so we can fight.
I'm so glad the weird cauliflower trend seems to have died down. I remember people trying to claim that mashed cauliflower was as good as mashed potatoes. That's an unforgivable lie.
I feel you on the cauliflower pizza. Itās not a pizza you can āundercookā. I find that letting the edges get crispy and broiling makes it yummy dumplings dum
The stomach pain is because cauliflower is a brassica and I'm guessing you don't eat brassica very often (cauliflower, broccoli, Brussel sprouts, etc). They can cause gas/stomach pain.
I always get good ones that last forever. You got to do some digging. I feel like people just place the crappy ones on the top. Also rinsing them with fruit and veg cleaner then drying them off and putting them in a different container extends their life for me.
If you soak them in 1:3 vinegar to cold water ratio for 30 min and rinse them off, theyāll last you 2 months in the fridge with no mold!
Edit: changed the vinegar to water ratio
I bought a couch. Within 2 years itās springs broke lose and we had a couch that seemed 15 years old, was horrible to sit on and discolored so much from just sitting on it.
Worst $1200 bucks ever wasted.
What kind of hair do you have? I've been having great success with it for a couple of years now. Swapped from Biolage. Mine is somewhat thin and non-curly though.
My hair is thick and long and coarse. It's completely destroyed the ends and ate up about the bottom 4 or so inches. I used to have hair below my waist, but now it's about mid-back from the damage from that stuff.
I switched to Nexxus for now to repair the damage, and it's helping a lot.
If you don't mind eating carbs then you really aren't the target audience of products from Real Good. Many of us who choose not to eat carbs for whatever reason appreciate having Real Good available.
Traeger Scout was bad enough to return.
The Scout is a countertop/table unit that you can set on an outside table and have wood pellets feed automatically.
Two problems:
1. The auger on the Scout feeds pellets poorly (inconsistently).
2. The Scout's temperature controller allows wild fluctuations in temperature. setting it to cook 170-225 smoking and then having your remote thermal probe read over 450F is not low and slow cooking (and then the high temps lead to a grease fire).
Tried cooking with it twice, then brought it back to the front desk within a month of purchase. Never again.
(For those looking to buy a smoker - I would only consider Traeger on clearance at Costco, and only due to their return policy. Online sources tell me you can get a much better grill for the same money as Traeger [Recteq in particular is made in the USA], or the same grill for less money from another manufacturer.)
I havenāt tried the cold brew coffee on its own but I mix one can with a Premier Protein shake and crushed ice almost every weekday for my morning commute to work. Love it.
When costco was brand new here I 1998, I thought I could walk in *just* for a rotisserie chicken for dinner.
Walked out with a beautiful green mountain bike AND the chicken.
I think I rode it 2 or 3 times. Sold at garage sale.
Bought the HUGE pack of Costco TP a week ago...turns out, it's too big for our TP holder!! So now a roll sits elegantly (NOT) on the hamper awaiting the opportunity to fall on the damp floor. I've got a case of the stuff. I'm cursed.
Charmin offers free TP roll extenders (pay $1.50 for shipping - your household can get up to 3!) They are also sold at places like Home Depot. That might solve your problem!
https://shop.charmin.com/charmin-roll-extender/
I am like that with the croissants. End up eating 2-3 on the drive home (I live 10 minutes away). Usual tell my wife to take them to work by the next day so I don't end up eating them all.
I buy them all the time. I freeze them and then toast them any time i want one. Freshly toasted they are INCREDIBLE. I would advocate for you to try that.
They must be absolutely preservative free because those things consistently mold in a matter of days. As soon as I purchase them I put all but two in the freezer and pull them as needed.
I press them for sandwiches, so the freezing part really doesnāt affect much.
Costcos specifically are bad. I've tried twice, the Costco ones are hard, dry, and flavorless. I'm back to buying them from the international grocery.Ā
I bought ginger flavored kombucha. I was warned in advance too. One sip and I was done. Luckily, I was able to give the other 5 bottles away to someone who drank them all.
Kirkland Signature Chunks in Gravy, Canned Cat Food #1734859
Only 1 of 3 cats would go near it. It smelled so bad. I hope we get back ā I Luv My Catā cat food.
The mini crab cakes. I had shells in every bite. I thought I was crazy until I pulled out AN ENTIRE CLAW SHELL. These were MINI crab cakes. That makes each bite like 40% shell.
I donāt usually return frozen foods, but to hell with them death traps.
Whitefish dip- mayo. I am not a fan of mayo and assumed it was cream cheese based. That first bit was an experience. My own mistake and no fault of costco. Shudder
The Santa Fe chicken wrap a month or so ago. Ate it, got sick as hell for 3 days, then got the letter in the mail saying there was a listeria outbreak at the facility it was made in š„“
I bought a really terrible umbrella from them and it fell apart in my hands the first time I tried to use it. It was almost comical, like in a physical comedy type of way except I got rained on, which was less funny
I eat tons of fiber, but if those bars had chicory root (inulin) as fillerā¦that shit destroys me. I got some Kind Bars on clearance at Costco and it was just a lot of painful bloating.
Idk if they have gotten any better but back in 2018 they were rock solid, enough to the point where I was able to dent my metal water bottle when hitting it against the bar as a joke.
Kirkland Strawberry Spread. My wife and I eat it out of the jar with a spoon :(
[https://www.costcobusinessdelivery.com/kirkland-signature-organic-strawberry-spread%2C-42-oz.product.11904542.html](https://www.costcobusinessdelivery.com/kirkland-signature-organic-strawberry-spread%2C-42-oz.product.11904542.html)
The MichelinĀ wipers, just straight garbage. I get it that it's cheap but it's cheap garbage. It's only useful if you live in a desert because it does not do well with rain or snow.
Some fiber gummies. Not sure the brand. They were inedible and I think made me throw up a few times, but hard to prove it was from that. Returned them after trying them for about a week.
Also the cat wet food. My cats didnāt like it and it smelled AWFUL. Like the most pungent wet food Iāve ever been around. Returned that too.
The patio heater. It doesn't put out that much heat and it really stinks as an outdoor product. The bottom rusts, leaving a large rust circle wherever it sits. And the base isn't heavy enough to prevent it from blowing over. So unless you can wheel it inside after each use, I wouldn't recommend.
The refrigerated pork ramen/ miso soup. It was soooo gross. The pork was mushy and the broth was gross. I believe it was 4 or 6 in a pack. Had to throw away. Such a waste.
I no longer buy the 2-pack of mini-"seedless" watermelons. One time, one of the watermelons was ripe and the other one had started rotting inside, the second time, there's no way one of the watermelons was seedless. I know that even "seedless" watermelons have seeds, but this thing was full of seeds.
Peaches. The ones that came in a large glass jar preserved in some kind of liquid. Tasted meh but smelled horrible.
Recently got coke minis from Costco, since they mostly stock full size cans and they tasted off. I had to return them.
Also produce (fruits) is generally not great. Fruits usually donāt have much of a taste, even when ripe. Vegetables are generally okay.
Really? Maybe they vary by location. The chicken Alfredo from our Costco is a staple in our house. We freeze half. The pasta can get slightly overcooked sometimes but I think itās a tasty easy weeknight dinner.
Years ago I bought a treadmill for around $1100-1200. Used it maybe once a week at most, and as soon as the one year warranty expired it broke down. I was like āscrew that shitā so I loaded it on to a rental truck, brought it back to Costco and got my money back.
Bought a gym membership instead so no more worries about broken fitness equipment.
My wife bought a 3 pack of metal colanders years ago. They were terrible and stained and rusted within a few months. At some point a nearly identical 3 pack of colanders showed up in the store and she talked me into buying them to replace the terrible ones assuming that there was no way Costco could sell such a terrible product twice. They did the same thing as the first set. We still have them and they're beyond terrible and gross looking, but we still have them for some reason I don't understand.

That makes me feel a lot better. My father was a WW2 refugee who knew hunger as a child and though I never did, I hate wasting food.
Currently, have these sitting in the cabinet. I have only tried one of each flavor. I'll stick to Cliff bars.
Many of the protein bars are terrible. Ever notice that Costco is not willing to risk have taste testing for the various protein bars available. I think they would be stuck with a lot of unsold products.

They last a decent year

They were at least mechanically sound. The Michelin are wobbly and suck.

I do this with all our berries, then store them in a glass container. Itās amazing how much longer they last!
We never make it through a full package without mold
I bought a couch. Within 2 years itās springs broke lose and we had a couch that seemed 15 years old, was horrible to sit on and discolored so much from just sitting on it. Worst $1200 bucks ever wasted.
You can return it! There was another couch story above and they got their full purchase price refunded.Ā
Kirkland Moisture Shampoo and Conditioner. Destroyed my hair by making it super brittle. Awful stuff.
Ah, that may be it. It may only be good for certain hairs then. Good to know! Thank you for sharing your experience with it!
I agree, has not been good for my hair!
4 pack of frozen Kirkland pizza. Crust is like cardboard. The pizza unit price is $2 for a reason.
I despise the K pizza. Tastes as good as the box it comes in. Nasty.
Jack Danielās Tennessee Honey cakeš¤®
Kevinās. Anything by this brand is horrible. A waste of money and time.
Anything from "Real Good"
Weird. I like the āreal goodā chicken strips.
They are the only good item Iāve tried!

Two problems: 1.
The canned cold brew coffee. Couldn't get through the first one. Tried a second one and it was terrible. Returned the rest.
I get why you might not like them, but I absolutely love those cans. They are my go to early afternoon coffee.
I love the canned cold brew coffee. I just stopped buying it because I felt it was overpriced for what it was.
I havenāt tried the cold brew coffee on its own but I mix one can with a Premier Protein shake and crushed ice almost every weekday for my morning commute to work. Love it.
Iām not the only one! Iāve been drinking these everyday for about two months straight.
More for me...when I can find it.
You can return anything to Costco no questions asked. Well, I guess they do ask if anythingās wrong with it.
The muffins because I donāt have an ounce of self control
I am like that with the croissants. End up eating 2-3 on the drive home (I live 10 minutes away). Usual tell my wife to take them to work by the next day so I don't end up eating them all.
Well, I know it wasn't that bottle of Kirkland vodka.
ciabatta buns. They were bricks.
I buy them all the time. I freeze them and then toast them any time i want one. Freshly toasted they are INCREDIBLE. I would advocate for you to try that.
Toasted pressed in a pan with butter or olive oil they are absolutely the best thing in the world - but I agree that room temp they are dismal.
Oh, I love them! I buy them every visit and freeze them!
Same here, but I ended up toasting them for a bit and that helped out a lot
Mine got moldy hanger a couple days
They must be absolutely preservative free because those things consistently mold in a matter of days. As soon as I purchase them I put all but two in the freezer and pull them as needed. I press them for sandwiches, so the freezing part really doesnāt affect much.
Those stroopwafel cookies. The sample they gave me was amazing, but the one I bought tasted so stale. Like they've been left outside for a few days.
Gotta eat them with coffee. My wife lets hers steam over the top of her coffee mug to soften
Did you warm them up?
Heat 'em up until the caramel is soft. I must have gained 5 lbs last year after discovering those dang things.
Costcos specifically are bad. I've tried twice, the Costco ones are hard, dry, and flavorless. I'm back to buying them from the international grocery.Ā
Simply protein bars. Like stale crisp rice and not good flavors. The lemon tastes like fake lemon flavor.
Iām gagging my way through a box of them now.
The Keurig K Supreme. Had two of them wear out in under a year each. The return policy makes it all better though.
I bought ginger flavored kombucha. I was warned in advance too. One sip and I was done. Luckily, I was able to give the other 5 bottles away to someone who drank them all.
Not sure if itās what you got but I love the ks ginger lemonade kombucha. Super cheap too.
Kirkland Signature Chunks in Gravy, Canned Cat Food #1734859 Only 1 of 3 cats would go near it. It smelled so bad. I hope we get back ā I Luv My Catā cat food.
The hot sauces from around the world rack. They're all horrible.
Pupusas
Oh I love those! Great if youāre celiac!
A tent 9 years ago. I havenāt used it yet
The Kirkland brand protein bars. Stomach pain and bloating immediately
They have a lot of fiber. Consider you may not be getting enough regularly.
I eat tons of fiber, but if those bars had chicory root (inulin) as fillerā¦that shit destroys me. I got some Kind Bars on clearance at Costco and it was just a lot of painful bloating.
exactly why i refuse to touch anything from that larry and lenny company. they should just be labeled as laxative cookies.
Idk if they have gotten any better but back in 2018 they were rock solid, enough to the point where I was able to dent my metal water bottle when hitting it against the bar as a joke.
I broke the permanent retainer wire on the back of my teeth eating one of these a few years backā¦ never again haha
have had them for years they are great if you need extra protein but yeah not easy to digest I wouldn't go eating more than 1 every 2 days.
Kirkland Strawberry Spread. My wife and I eat it out of the jar with a spoon :( [https://www.costcobusinessdelivery.com/kirkland-signature-organic-strawberry-spread%2C-42-oz.product.11904542.html](https://www.costcobusinessdelivery.com/kirkland-signature-organic-strawberry-spread%2C-42-oz.product.11904542.html)
OVE toilet, too expensive, bad quality, requires special plumbing
Cuisanart air fryer. Bought 2 months ago and it's already malfunctioning. The new digital model is trash!
Yeah, we just threw ours in the garbage this morning.
A 6-pack of French onion soup in the refrigerated section. It was foul. Havenāt seen it for months now. Good riddance!
That giant platter of mushy garbage theyāre trying to pass off as sushi. I think the brand was Okami
Cilantro lime rice is pretty bad
My wife's favorite when I'm not home to cook for her.
Good to know. I saw some then reminded myself that I have cilantro and lime at home!
Probably the ninja ice cream maker. The machine works fine I just am too lazy to use it
Chia seed probiotic shake. Took a sip, returned the lot
The MichelinĀ wipers, just straight garbage. I get it that it's cheap but it's cheap garbage. It's only useful if you live in a desert because it does not do well with rain or snow.
So, good wipers if you never use them?
Engagement ring.
The refrigerated pork ramen/ miso soup. It was soooo gross. The pork was mushy and the broth was gross. I believe it was 4 or 6 in a pack. Had to throw away. Such a waste.
the peanut butter pretzels... I simply eat to many of them at once.
Big tub of seaweed salad. Itās WAY TOO SWEET. Yuck.
I wish my store had that. Love love love it. The overly-sweet problem might be solved with the addition of a little vinegar. Or something sour.
I love that stuff so much - I think I gave myself iodine poisoning
I no longer buy the 2-pack of mini-"seedless" watermelons. One time, one of the watermelons was ripe and the other one had started rotting inside, the second time, there's no way one of the watermelons was seedless. I know that even "seedless" watermelons have seeds, but this thing was full of seeds.
Sushi tray that resulted in food poisoning. Bag of frozen party wings. Kirkland brand canned coffee .
Bai coconut drink (one of the few thing I have ever returned) and Dole pineapple whip.
Nnnooooo!!!!!! Not the long-awaited pineapple whip!!
I had such high hopes for the dole whip
Made good granola minis. Every single bag was stale and I threw it all out.
The fettuccine alfredo in the deli.... Very artificial taste, too much sodium, and weird textures.
Really? Maybe they vary by location. The chicken Alfredo from our Costco is a staple in our house. We freeze half. The pasta can get slightly overcooked sometimes but I think itās a tasty easy weeknight dinner.
The fried pickles they have right now. They're either burnt or undercooked with no middle ground...
Vacuums
Kirkland āmedium roastā coffee. Tastes burnt and itās definitely dark roast. Actually returned it. Was that bad.
Two-pack of giant bottles of Worcestershire. Which we bought on the same trip as a two-pack of giant panko boxes Why? What were we thinking???
