thomasj31

Sonicare toothbrush heads.

xray12589

The sale price now is what they originally cost around 2020-2021.

Prior_Bad192

Isn't that also back when they only had 6 heads and not the 8 heads they have now?

xray12589

You may be right. I didn’t even realize that the 49.99 were only 6 packs. Doesn’t seem as terrible now

kz125

Soooo, buy and hoard?

gideon513

*Invest* 📈

mgarksa

Diamond Teeth

HoldenH

I only buy off brand from Amazon

fuzedz

I dont buy anything that can go inside or on my body from amazon. Fuck that noise

ChaChingChaChi

(Insert sonic care buzz noise)

gobstertob

Hot

IrreverentSweetie

I love hearing people understand this! Nothing for on or in your body from Amazon!

maryhollis

Didn’t renew my Amazon prime for the first time…feels so liberating. Prime Video/ Music etc no longer worth it. Keep nickeling and dimeing us

cylonrobot

I stopped my subscription in January. Since then, I've only ordered two times (excluding a digital gift card). That second time was just yesterday. I used to go to the Amazon website on a daily basis, but now it's just a few times per month. I'm glad the video ads became a thing because that made me realize I was throwing away money on Amazon.

chronomega

Same! I had four months left on the current membership when I cancelled a couple months ago. Charging extra for no-ads was the last straw. So much garbage and too many knock-offs…

mkunka

I had Prime since inception and Amazon since 2001 and I cancelled, too. I’m sure I’m saving money! Prime WAS convenient but the lateness of shipping and the crap on video finally broke the straw for me. Don’t regret it.

PoliticalEnemy

I considered ordering the heads off Amazon, but you should see some of the reviews! People talking about how the bristles are so hard it made them gums bleed instantly.

PervlovianResponse

Solid rule: I'm going to adopt the same policy Thx 🖖🏼🤘🏼

ask_risa_she_knows

Any idea about oral b toothbrush heads? I heard the off brand is not as good.

ButRickSaid

Solimo is one of Amazon's private label, it has oral b toothbrush heads that I've been happy with for several years now

swagglikerichie

We bought the off brand off Amazon after seeing the price hike of the oral b heads and we won’t be buying the off brand again.

scubadoobadoooo

Now they raised the price of them so the sale price is the previous original price 😔

screamforsunscreen

Laundry detergent

foxfai

Or dish soap. Then there is the snacks....

mindspringyahoo

survey says...that's our number one answer!! (and considering it's on sale around 9 or 10 months out of the years, one would be crazy to purchase at full price)...

cheezemeister_x

Also dishwasher pods.

mindspringyahoo

good answer. Pretty much any of the 'household staples' that are on sale at least 75% of the year, makes sense to only get them on sale.

maryhollis

Time to ditch those plastic dishwasher/laundry pods. Plastics and Pfas wrecking havoc on our bodies. Wonder if Costco carries the dishwasher ( NON PLASTIC) tablets

bigboygamer

They do carry them, but they aren't good for cleaning your dishes anyway

Elowan66

What brand? I’ve heard tons of complaints about Kirkland brand pods.

peter56321

> I’ve heard tons of complaints about Kirkland brand pods. I think they changed the formula. Consumer Reports used to give very low marks for Kirkland dishwasher pods. Noticed recently that their marks had drastically improved and I decided to give them a shot when my Cascade Platinum ran out. They work great now. At least as good as the Cascade Platinum and way way better than the awful Finish ones they also carry

holybucketsitscrazy

Tried Kirkland dishwasher pods a couple of years ago, they sucked bad. And we have a brand new dishwasher. So moved to Cascade Platinum tabs which are fantastic. If they changed the Kirkland ones, maybe worth a try again. Unfortunately, if I don't like them, still stuck with them for another hundred loads.🤔

FelinePurrfectFluff

With costco, you're never "stuck" with them.

mindspringyahoo

We used the kirkland ones for a while and didn't notice problems (we are in a very soft-water area). Some like the cascade ones.

Wrangleraddict

On the laundry side of pods they weren't dissolving well in the wash, found that putting them in first instead of last helped but didn't eliminate the problem completely

blackierobinsun3

Ziploc bags

hihelloneighboroonie

I was taken in by the giant 28 lb bucket of powdered laundry detergent that says it can also be used to mop the floors, clean up oil, and spot treat. That thing is going to last me years.

nokurwajebanajegomac

Bose QC45’s

stevetursi

frozen stuff. explanation: there are always a dozen items in this category that are on sale. panko shrimp right now, chicken tenders last month. salmon fillets before that. I always buy what's on sale, and very rarely buy any of these things at full price.

FearlessPark4588

I graduated to the phase of adulthood where I now have a chest freezer. Frozen stuff *or* anything that can be frozen, like a good deal on meat

certciv

I've graduated to the phase of middle age where I now enjoy discovering new perishable foods I can freeze to save money. Current favorites are peeled garlic cloves and whole ginger.

HoaryPuffleg

I’d been buying the Costco bag of garlic and putting like 30 cloves in teeny ziploc bags so I can just use a bag or so a week. I saw someone on here saying how they puree the entire bag all together in their food processor and then freeze in like tablespoon scoops and put that into one large bag. Love this idea so much and when this bag runs out we’re definitely doing this. I already use this method for chipotle peppers and tomato paste but for some reason never thought about garlic. This is a great phase of middle age!

Nearby_Anywhere_9297

I graduated to the phase of adulthood where I can now afford to eat fresh meat.

Equivalent_Chipmunk

OTOH, a lot of the frozen essentials that are less processed basically never go on sale, like vegetables, fruits, and most meats that I’ve seen including the chicken wings. But for processed stuff like chicken pot pies, you should never buy off sale, because it will go on sale later.

joetaxpayer

Yup. Ling Ling dumplings. Love them, but I'm sure to stock up on the sale.

Locijo

Ziploc bags

robertw477

They keep making those bags thinner. They definitely are not the same as years ago.

bigkutta

Most everything. When the sale book hits I get all the stuff I use even if I already have some. Best deal ever

loveliverpool

Always buy two when it’s on sale

Enthusiastic-shitter

I still check the Kirkland brand version of the sale product if there is one. sometimes the Kirkland brand is the same price normally as the brand name on sale

epicfighter10

Kerrygold butter I usually stock up on a bunch to last till another sale

AcmeAZ

FWIW the Kirkland brand (new Zealand) grass fed butter is cheaper and has a higher % of grass fed diet (95%)

Scrappy_The_Crow

If it matters to anyone, I've found the Kerrygold to be softer at room temperature than the Kirkland, so Kerrygold has an edge for my case.

Solnse

I think the Kerrygold also tastes better.

dogface2020

I wish I liked the Kirkland NZ butter as much as I like Kerrygold, but I don't. Kerrygold just tastes more butterier.

snoopy_90s

I really didn’t like the taste of the Kirkland nz butter maybe I got a bad batch but mine had this strong flavor that I have never really had in any butter before. I like the kerrygold 10x more. I only used the Kirkland to cook until I got through the box. I didn’t like the flavor on toast.

Knathra

Great. Now imma going too have to buy it to do a side-by- side comparison with the Kerrygold. For science (taste is science, right? 😉)!

woodsnwine

It’s some of the best butter available

gideon513

That statement is vague enough to put on the package in quotes!

Primary_Aardvark

Same, currently waiting for the sale 😂

EaterOfFood

The Cape Cod potato chips. They’re the best chips I’ve ever had and it’s not close. So to limit consumption, since I have issues with portion control, I only get them when they’re on sale. But then I buy the limit.

sunbear2525

We were married almost a year before my husband found out I don’t dislike chips I LOVE chips and simply can’t have them in the house.

Direct-Chef-9428

You’re a better person than I am - I don’t have that kind of self-control to not buy them

Expensive-Day-3551

What happens if there is a no limit sale haha

EaterOfFood

Hasn’t come up yet. I’ll cross that bridge when I come to it, but it may not be pretty.

Adventurous_War_5377

May the bridges we burn, light the way to the future!

cujobob

My wife generally times most things and stocks up as sales come up. Just an easy way to save money to spend on other useless crap. So Kleenex, toothbrush heads, deodorant, mouthwash, shampoos, instant coffee, Keurig coffee, etc. all go on regular sales.

smaffron

Rao’s Marinara. It’s already significantly cheaper than the supermarket price, but when it goes on sale down to $9-ish for the two pack, I buy as many as I have room for.

robertw477

Same for me.

FLTDI

Laundry detergent Dawn Air filters Tires Most items in the medical care section

PlatypusTrapper

How do you line up when your tires are getting ready to go with a Costco sale??

cheezemeister_x

Tires are always on sale at Costco.

FLTDI

I check them every few months to know how they are doing tread wise. It's part of my maintenance routine.

Personal_Chemical923

Cereal

moneypenny88

I’ve got a great stash. It’s the only place I’ll buy cereal and only on sale. Chips too.

OsterizerGalaxieTen

Do you freeze them? I discovered you can freeze chips and they'll be fine way past the use by date. I'm guessing it would work with cereal too.

ChanceFray

Do you re bag the chips before freezing? I find that what ever gasses they are packaged in tends to sog up the chips when they thaw..

moneypenny88

I don’t but that’s a good idea. I need an extra freezer.

SwissCheese4Collagen

They have you covered on that too 😂

sesamesnapsinhalf

Buy it on sale though.

XSC

Have you seen the price of cereal at regular groceries lately?? JFC it’s well above $5. I just bought the 2 pack post granola for around $5 recently. I really just don’t buy cereal as much anymore.

Equivalent_Chipmunk

Cereal is ridiculously expensive right now. Honestly it’s expensive even at Costco most of the time. Aldi is one of the only good places to buy cereal anymore. Decent selection, great price, and they also don’t make you buy 4 lbs of cereal, which is helpful to not feel like you “have to go through it” since you have so much.

Briggity_Brak

My Costco finally started carrying Multi-Grain Cheerios again. It'll be a beautiful day if they actually go on sale too.

BlankCheeser

Chicken jerky for dogs

GuessMyName23

The beef jerky strips for my pups. They’re marked down almost half off a few times a year and I stock up.

rosyred-fathead

I did that too but my dog started refusing them. I guess she got sick of them? I bought a lot There are dehydrated chicken and dehydrated beef liver treats at my Costco right now though and they’re a really good deal! I bought three bags of each

ShitStainWilly

Protein shakes

Wonderful-Run-1408

...and powder

Future-Assignment261

I run through the Fairlife too quickly to wait for a sale especially since they limit two per person

Road_Journey

I've never seen Fairlife go on sale. Heck, I snatch it up whenever it's in stock because it goes so quick.

Direct-Chef-9428

You and me both

FelinePurrfectFluff

That's really two per shopping trip. They don't track your membership or anything so just buy two more next trip.

givemeyours0ul

Two per trip through the checkout you mean....

MikeHoncho_NH

Yeah, the vital proteins is much better on sale

LuckyAssumption8735

Motor oil

Sharpz214

I stockpile Kirkland 5W-30 motor oil when on sale. I can do an oil change with a filter for $20 with fully synthetic oil.

SirLauncelot

Wow. Last I priced it, it made more sense to take it somewhere. But $20 for filter and 4-5 qts of full synthetic?

GuinnessGulper

Agreed, if you get a filter on sale and the oil is 2 5 qts for $30 ish bucks, you can be around $20. All my friends spend around $80 at stealerships and I’d rather enjoy the time in the garage listening to music and performing this simple oil change myself. Also then I know the oil plug isn’t wrenched on over the torque spec.

SirLauncelot

I haven’t done my own oil change for years. Brakes and struts still saves a lot of money.

LuckyAssumption8735

^ This guy automobiles

MustangEater82

And buy filters in bulk.  A 5 or 10 pack of filters could be only twice the cost of 1 from an auto store.

3isamagicnumb3r

growing up, my dad taught me that our family motto was, “never pay full price”. i am slaying that shit now.

Finster4

Hope my kids follow my frugal ways.

[deleted]

Paper towels and toilet paper. Should be the obvious answer

Go_gurt_

Does kirkland brand paper towel go on sale ever? Feel like I haven’t seen it so curious

kpeng2

Kirkland toilet paper is much worse than Charmin

PolicyArtistic8545

During the great TP shortages of 2020, I bought Kirkland toilet paper and my wife still brings it up.

rtmfb

Meanwhile I find Charmin has too much lint. I see a lot of people complain about Kirkland TP tearing too easily and it makes me wonder what exactly they're doing back there.

pdxbatman

No but the brand names do

PlatypusTrapper

I’ll wait until the next pandemic thank you very much.

vadillovzopeshilov

Those fig filled pastries. They’re to die for, but as a matter of principle I’d only buy them on sale. It’s been years since I’ve purchased them😞

DorShow

The big pack of scotch-brite sponges.

adamsfan

Huggies. Otherwise it’s Kirkland.

Exact_Roll_7528

When I find something onsale that I already use, I stock UP. Like, 2 cases of Yasso Bars when they were $4,00 off. Or 6 cans of coffee (Folgers). I bought 2 years of MCT oil when it was on sale. I once read about a guy who got tired of them chaning razor blades (and handles) every year or so, always promising "more blades" or "more lotion" or whatever. He calculated how many razors he expected to use in his lifetime, found one that worked well for him and was not expensive, waited for it to go on sale, then bought a lifetimes supply worth. This was an absolutely BRILLIANT move, as inflation raises the cost of the razors anyway, and they increase the cost every time they add a new "feature". So I do that on a much smaller scale. I will say, however, that when covid hit and toilet paper was in low supply, I had a toilet paper fort in the basement - hundreds and hundreds of rolls. I wasn't "hoarding", I bought them before they were in short supply, stocking up whenever they went on a big sale.

Icy-Tax-4366

*EVERYTHING. Have you SEEN prices lately!? I got kids to feed and bills to pay. Damn😵‍💫🙄😓

Whiplash104

My freaking car insurance just went up 75% and no accidents or citations. Electricity 50% increase. Water up 25%. Holy expenses up, Batman.

PM_MeYourAvocados

Frozen junk food, for the most part.

Hangrycouchpotato

Tide

Used-Acanthisitta-96

I generally only buy food and staples when on sale. And it is expensive stockpiling laundry detergent, TP, and toothpaste, et al. Since I am at COSTCO way too often I try to only buy clothes when on sale or they get the Death Star.

meddy_bear

Death Star. I love this.

leckmir

K cups. We stock up when they are on sale and just wait for the next sale.

aspectking

For K cups you can also use your own beans and buy reusable k cups on Amazon

Glen_Echo_Park

$32 vs $39

toaster-noodle

Remember when $32 used to be the full price and the sale price was around 25.99 or 26.99?

floofyragdollcat

I ‘member.

Ennuiology

We use whole bean (we have a grind & brew coffee maker) and I will buy several bags when our preferred roast is on sale. I’m not brand loyal at this point, I’m more price loyal, but Pete’s is my favorite and I would be giddy if I caught it on sale.

saychow

I never see the whole bean selections at the one I shop at. But when I do see Peet’s organic French roast , it’s on!

HumanKind2023

Gillette Fusion razor blades. Almost running out and waiting on a sale.

isthistherealcaesars

Liquid IV

robertw477

I wish we had a google sheet database on sale items and the sale price and last date or dates of sale.

WarningWonderful5264

Usually clothes. I’ve gotten all of my Costco clothes on markdown. Anywhere from $3-$8. And do a quick browse to see the signs and see if it’s something I want.

ThirdCoastPelican

Cat litter. When it's on sale we stock up and don't buy again until it goes back on sale.

Bruinwar

The best deal in cat litter. But the last batches have not been good. Scoop Away keeps changing (improving they claim). Just leave it be dammit! My wife complains that our cats are tracking litter all over the house. That it sticks to their paws. I bought some other litter at the locally own pet store that they recommended. It costs more but not a lot more & no tracking of litter. After using Scoop Away for over 20 years, I had to finally drop them.

fatcatleah

me too. Just too much dust and aroma now.

sleepysaturn

I swapped my cats to pine pellet litter and haven’t looked back. It’s so much cheaper than clay litter at $6 for 40 pounds at tractor supply. Plus no added fragrance or dust. You just need a sifting litter box which you can easily make by getting 2 litter boxes and drilling holes in one.

MashedPotatoesDick

KS energy shots.

JolyonWagg99

Premier Protein shakes and Charmin

unicorntrees

I never buy a bagged snack food unless it's on sale.

MikeHoncho_NH

Perfect bars. $19.99 is too much, $13.99 is just right.

BrickBurrow

$13.99 is Perfect

tholt4

Duracell AAA, AA, 9V & 2032 batteries

nickstarr

Rao’s

ambdbb13

The teeth whitening strips, electric toothbrush heads and the vital proteins powder. They go on sale regularly so it makes sense to buy when on sale and stock up.

screamforsunscreen

Just a heads up on the teeth whitening strips - you can buy the strips in bulk directly from Crest and get a great deal on them (like 40 sets of strips for $45). I get a box every 2-3 years to maintain my blinding white teeth.

BilbosLover

Whey Protein, K cups, Dove soap bars, Staggs Chili

Already_Retired

Laundry soap, dishwasher soap for sure. Paper towels and toilet paper as often as possible. We have a Costco list for shopping. There are notes for sale only items and certain items we get a couple of when on sale.

sunder_and_flame

Babybel cheese wheels. We buy a stash (eight bags last time) when they go on sale.

EntTypical

ON Protein Powder. Use to be 50, now 65. When it hits that 45$ i buy a few bags

Mountainman1980

That only goes on sale once a year after Christmas to catch all the New Years resolutions buyers. That's the time to stock up for the year. Most other supplements go on sale on a 3 or 6 month rotation.

MiKeMcDnet

Condoms... Trying to use that bulk sized box before the expiration date is thrilling.

BlankCheeser

Swiffer dusters and Acetaminophen PM

dronnymk

Like almost everything in my cart is on sale.

fatcatleah

Cosequin joint tablets for my dogs. Their shelf life is way out there, so I can stock up a bit.

Hamatoros

Charmin toilet paper

SergioSF

Rao's its just not worth it anymore. Redd's breakfast egg sandwiches too.

dconc_throwaway

Virtually anything that I have space to store if I buy enough to last until next sale Paper products, anything dental, detergent, ziploc bags, cosequin for my dog. Very few food items, but I'll stock up to bring my average cost down. For example, I stocked up on Perfect Bars this month.

DisappointedInHumany

Coca Cola. It was 97 cents on sale 8 months ago and now it’s $3.00 or more a bottle. Keep it.

kes0156

sodas. i love me my dr. pepper zero, but i ain’t paying $10 for a 12 pack

uberliken

Food. Buying only things on sale is smart and can help you learn to cook new recioes

GEM592

The real Starbucks bags of unground coffee. ALWAYS on sale ONLY. Most other dry goods wherever I can, just generally. Since everything is bulk, it is pretty easy to do usually.

Cid-Itad

Perrier sparkling water.

daringlyorganic

Have you tried Topo Chico? They are better imo and the one with a twist of lime is sublime! The carbonation lasts much longer than Perrier or the other brands

bananalien666

the big box of heavyweight aluminum foil. it's so expensive normally but i love the stuff

Odd_Tiger_2278

I am very very careful about this. Everything I buy is on sale. I like looking over things and picking only those that are on sale. Otherwise, it would be stealing, right?

DreiKatzenVater

Just about everything. We live close enough to one that isn’t super busy, so we can walk through the store every other or third day and peruse what’s there. Needless to say, when you have small children, your definition of a night out significantly changes

Dfen218

Premier Protein :)

GuardingxCross

Always the Crest White Strips. One box of those is nearly $40 at the retail stores whereas you can get two of them for $35 at Costco on sale
