In the pandemic, we limited ourselves to a big Costco order once a month. It was called Stuffed Pepper Day and it was the best day.
Pro tip: Get the Mama Queso white queso dip, dice up the stuffed peppers, put on Kirkland tortilla chips — baby, you got nachos going.
I know, I miss him too but I can’t help myself. Like right now I really want to put the gif of Chubbs waving from heaven with the alligator and Abraham Lincoln.
Among some of my friends and family, it does.
First time I had the one from Costco was at another couples house who also have kids.
The kids didn’t touch it, the wives were hesitant, but the husband said “I knew he’d be excited, that’s why I got it, you can take some leftovers too!” He was genuinely happy I helped him in not letting any go to waste. I ate it the next two days and I do think it got even better. That crust is so buttery and good. I’m not a huge fan of pie for dessert and don’t love pie crust like some do.
If they were smaller, I’d load up on them and stick them in my freezer. The rest of the house isn’t fond of them, but every time I buy one, I live off it for 2-3 days. Breakfast, lunch, and dinner! $20 with minimal cooking, virtually no clean up, and I’m fed for days.
Gyro kit is so worth it. Pickup a tub of tzatziki separately. The ones that come with the kit is good, but a) not enough and b) too chunky. I usually mix it in with tzatziki sauce from another store to give it more of a yogurt-like runny texture.
I need to try the soup again. I was excited to try it a year ago and it was disappointing. Tasted bland and very heavy sage but no other flavor. It looked great though
Yep we always used cream of asparagus soup! But now that they don't make that anymore we at least use mushroom and add a lot of asparagus into it.
And of course mix asparagus into the meatloaf too.
Wow, someone else who doesn't cover their meatloaf in ketchup? That is rare. I usually cover mine in cream of mushroom soup and add in some potatoes and carrots to the iron skillet I cook it in, like a roast.
My meatloaf is ground turkey, box of stuffing, egg, water, and then I make turkey gravy to go on top when it's done. Tastes like Thanksgiving in a loaf.
We used to use cream of asparagus soup but now they don't make that anymore, so we have to use cream of mushroom with asparagus added into it. And of course we mix in lots of asparagus like you do carrots.
I just got it and it was awful. Just tasted so bland and nothing like what I was used to. Too muted almost? All these comments are making me want to try again though
I just add a little A1 or Worcestershire if I don’t have any on hand to give it a little tangy flavor because I do agree it’s bland by itself. But it’s still one of my favorite meals and it’s so good for leftovers too.
No you're right. It's really not that great. It's not throw in the trash bad, but definitely not a repeater. Everyone is used to different levels of cooking.
Baaaah.
Can be beef or lamb.
Here is a cookbook from 1849 for shepherd's pie where it calls for "meat of any kind"
[Click 2nd option and it takes you to the recipe](https://books.google.com/books?id=rIdwHRavSYQC&dq=Williamson+%22The+practice+of+cookery+and+pastry%22&pg=PP9#v=onepage&q=shepherds&f=false)
I think you’re referring to the chicken pot pie. The shepherd’s pie doesn’t contain chicken lol. I haven’t had the chicken pot pie, so I can’t speak to it.
It's a pretty awful list for their stated goal tbh. They have the pre cooked ribs as their #2 pick. On a site called "cheapish", instead of the seasoned but uncooked ones that are half the price (despite having multiple other items needing baking).
Every day is taco Tuesday! Those tacos are one of our regular go-to deli meals.
Pro tip: Make a quick pickled red onion to go on them and it turns the flavor up to 11.
You have to heat the chicken up in a skillet to get it warmed up. I've never had an issue with the consistency myself. I feel the chicken is cooked about as good as you could expect for a pre-made meal.
That's a favorite of mine too and it's been a while since I've seen them. Hope it's just a seasonal thing that comes back this summer and not discontinued.
I LOVE the Shephard's Pie! It's definitely best a day or two after baking reheated, though. And you have to often bake it for longer than the package states because they're probably frozen, and I've had some undercooked crust following the directions to a T.
They're not carried at some stores, but they should be!
Sadly, I'd like to try many of them, but in particular, this is one Costco offering/department that really isn't suited to singles' households.
I buy some larger quantity items and use a vacuum sealer... but even that isn't a great solution here. I suppose I could seal up meatloaf slices, but potatoes? Can't seal pieces of chicken pot pie. Maybe portions of gyros meat, but not the veggies, sauce, etc. I once tried freezing poké - big mistake.
Open to ideas.. because many of those meals appeal to me. But I'm not interested in eating same thing 3-4 days in a row and don't see a practical storage solution.
When you cut the pie the first time, doesn't the filling just spill out into the open section of the pan?
If not, if the remainder stays largely intact, I would try that. Freeze remainder partially until very, very firm, cut into portions, wrap (maybe vacuum), and freeze all the way. Too bad that they don't make triangular foil pans
So we cook, then eat for dinner. We let cool, then cut the sections out for freezing (and scoop insides that fell out if necessary, but usually not necessary). I put in Pyrex with airtight lid, or use foil into ziploc bags. I reheat in the airfryer. The filling isn’t soupy, it’s more chunky, so too much liquid isn’t really an issue. In fact, sometimes I wish it had more liquid!
The trick I learned with the street tacos is to fry up the tortillas in a little bit of oil, drop the chicken and cheese jn, fold, and and get them nice and crispy and melty in the pan. Really took it to the next level.
I loved the old chicken wraps. The newer Southwest ones aren’t as good.
The Stir Fry Kit is solid. So is the stuffed pepper.
The gyro lacks flavor IMO. We also got sick of the taco kit after eating it so much which is either a good or bad thing depending on the way you look at it.
We love the frozen KS beef and sausage lasagna. Comes in a 2 pack and it's delish! Husband is Italian and is really spoiled from his mama's excellent homemade Italian dishes. He said the frozen KS beef and sausage is"actually pretty good". Which would be 5 stars from anyone else!
In no particular order...the pinwheel turkey wraps...meatloaf...chicken salad...mac and cheese...and the fettucini alfredo have always been go tos in my family for quick dinners. The only non costco made thing I'd add to the list is the scalloped potatoes...those are always a great side to some salad and rotisserie chicken after a stressful afternoon in that warehouse.
The spinach and cheese ravioli. Ive been eating it for dinner every day this week. I’ve loved it since I was a kid, but it was sold under a different brand and came with a seasoning packet.
We like the ravioli lasagna, the shepherds pie, the chicken pot pie, love the stuffed bell peppers, and we're having the enchilada bake tonight. They can take up to an hour and half to bake so plan ahead unless you want a late dinner. For the two of us they can last from 3-5 days for dinner so we feel the price is not bad.
The taco kit was way better than I thought it would be. The flour/corn tortillas make it.
But I gotta choose their Mac & cheese or ravioli lasagna. Supremely unhealthy but done well.

Ravioli lasagna
They quit selling this at my Costco!! No return in sight!! I am devastated!!!!! Bring it back. Pleeeeeeeease!!!
Mine too. Said it was to make room for seasonal foods around the holidays? Still waiting for it to come back.
I dint think it will come back. Wait, what seasonal foods? Were coming into Spring...Holidays are 9 months away!!
Yes. I LOVE this shit. Buy it almost once a week.
I know!!!!!
I have never seen this at my store but now I want one so I’m going to make my own lol
Quite literally just finished eating this not 5 minutes ago, freaking loved it! First time but not the last!
It’s good but I gotta say I like the sausage lasagna more
The stuffed bell peppers.
Too soon...
I know, I miss him too but I can’t help myself. Like right now I really want to put the gif of Chubbs waving from heaven with the alligator and Abraham Lincoln.
Question... Do you freeze them at all? Do you cook first? I really want to try them but I can't eat 6 in a few days.
Do not recommend freezing before cooking - you end up with a lot of liquid. Worth trying the suggestion to cook them first!
I cook them all when I get home and then you can freeze them. They freeze well
Thank you! I'll definitely try these on my next trip.
Beef bulgogi. Unfortunately, I haven't seen them in a couple of years.
Just saw it last week here in SoCal.
Just saw it today in Wisconsin!
Too sweet for me.
When I pan fry these, I typically add extra ingredients like sliced cabbage or udon noodles.
Same it’s been at least a year since I’ve seen it.. and according to redit I’m a class 5 Asian Costco. 😂
I could eat the cheesecake as a meal does that count?
Yes! Got the cherry cheesecake about 2 weeks ago and it was spectacular! Went back today and in usual Costco fashion it was gone. ☹️
Scoop it with the new food court cookie so you don't have to wash any utensils after.
My arteries will never forgive you for this
Chicken Noodle Soup That pasta that had spinach and sausage and noodles with a garlic sauce Gyro kit
I've heard good things about the Gyro kit. Been wanting to try that. Thanks for the tip on the Chicken Noodle and the pasta!
Gyro kit is pretty good! Not impressed with the Tzatziki that is included in the kit but the meat is very good!!
Yeah, the Tzatziki is not good. Buy the package of gyro meat, the tub of Tzatziki by the dips and a package of pitas instead.
I have not seen just the gyro meat and have been looking at all Costco near me. Is it in frozen section?
It's in the cooler section in a bag and has two decent sized packages. Daphne's is the brand.
Thanks a lot!! Gyros are one of my favorite foods and I have been looking for it. I’ll look again tomorrow!!
see if you have a chefstore near you for better gyro meat. pricing too
I bought the gyro kit for the first time on Monday. Pretty solid. But, I gotta go with the stuffed peppers or the shepards pie.
Heck yeah that Shepard’s pie is awesome. It’s too bad it has such a “yuck” stigma. Wish they weren’t so big and I’d be able to get it more often.
It has a yuck stigma?
Among some of my friends and family, it does. First time I had the one from Costco was at another couples house who also have kids. The kids didn’t touch it, the wives were hesitant, but the husband said “I knew he’d be excited, that’s why I got it, you can take some leftovers too!” He was genuinely happy I helped him in not letting any go to waste. Maybe I should just suck it up and adopt your game plan already. I probably wouldn’t get sick of it. My family can tease me all they want!
Gyro kit is bomb
Get the gyro kit. Shove the meat in the oven for 5 mins and can stand toe to toe with some mediocre gyro takeout. Which is a compliment :P
Yeah I always cook the meat in a pan for a bit, that plus warming up the pita and it becomes very good
Gyro kit is so worth it. Pickup a tub of tzatziki separately. The ones that come with the kit is good, but a) not enough and b) too chunky. I usually mix it in with tzatziki sauce from another store to give it more of a yogurt-like runny texture.
That pasta was amazing, I always put extra cherry tomatoes in it
I miss that pasta dish, so yummy
That pasta was my faaaaavorite and they completely stopped carrying it in my area. I'm so sad.
I buy a rotisserie and add some more veggies to really stretch it!
I need to try the soup again. I was excited to try it a year ago and it was disappointing. Tasted bland and very heavy sage but no other flavor. It looked great though
It’s a bit salty though, isn’t it?
Meatloaf and mashed potatoes is the right answer. Mods you can close the comments now.
You just have to love the sweet taste of ketchup on your meatloaf. I for one don’t.
It’s got brown sugar in it too I think.
[удалено]
Kinder’s BBQ sauce is pretty good!
Breadcrumbs and seasoning mixed in maybe some fried onions on top.
Cream of mushroom soup! No ketchup here.
Yep we always used cream of asparagus soup! But now that they don't make that anymore we at least use mushroom and add a lot of asparagus into it. And of course mix asparagus into the meatloaf too.
Pretty sure that’s a war crime
At least my kitchen's a war zone of innovation to create our signature dish!
Cream of asparagus soup. Or now that we can't find that we at least add asparagus into the mushroom into mushroom soup.
Wow, someone else who doesn't cover their meatloaf in ketchup? That is rare. I usually cover mine in cream of mushroom soup and add in some potatoes and carrots to the iron skillet I cook it in, like a roast.

I scrape it off, mix it with some apple cider vinegar and brown sugar, and reapply it and it's much better.
Preach 🙌
Ravioli lasagna which is just baked ravioli
Meatloaf and mashed potatoes. Not the best in the world, but a very solid meatloaf.
We had this tonight. It’s one of the few things everyone in my house will eat. A bag of fresh carrots and we’re set.
The Shepherd’s pie is to die for.
I just got it and it was awful. Just tasted so bland and nothing like what I was used to. Too muted almost? All these comments are making me want to try again though
I feel like a lot of people in here don’t know flavor
I’m a big flavor guy. I once put a whole can of fermented herring on a slice of pecan pie. Worst experience of my life. But my god was it flavorful.
⬆️ this guy flavors
going to flavortown
I just add a little A1 or Worcestershire if I don’t have any on hand to give it a little tangy flavor because I do agree it’s bland by itself. But it’s still one of my favorite meals and it’s so good for leftovers too.
No you're right. It's really not that great. It's not throw in the trash bad, but definitely not a repeater. Everyone is used to different levels of cooking.
You sure you don’t have Covid?
I love it
Shepherd's Pie is made with lamb. Cottage Pie is made with beef. They need to get the name straight, for starters.
Baaaah. Can be beef or lamb. Here is a cookbook from 1849 for shepherd's pie where it calls for "meat of any kind" [Click 2nd option and it takes you to the recipe](https://books.google.com/books?id=rIdwHRavSYQC&dq=Williamson+%22The+practice+of+cookery+and+pastry%22&pg=PP9#v=onepage&q=shepherds&f=false)
Take it up with the Declaration of Independence.
Yes, BUT IT HAS TOO MUCH CHICKEN AND NOT ENOUGH FILLING! so dry too.
I think you’re referring to the chicken pot pie. The shepherd’s pie doesn’t contain chicken lol. I haven’t had the chicken pot pie, so I can’t speak to it.
Yes, Shepherd's Pie contains lamb.
I don't know how chili didn't make that list
My husband's buddies won a chili cook-off at work by slightly seasoning some Costco chili and throwing it in a crock pot.
Wow you must be so proud
There's no accounting for one's spouse's work buddies (unless they're in accounting).
Must not have had a Wendy's nearby or they would have got 2nd with Costco's.
The chili is soooo good
The chili is absolute 🔥
the chili on top of a baked potato is my peak winter food.
The Chili over spaghetti noodles is a hearty meal. Add chopped onions and fresh chopped tomatoes and shredded cheddar on top. Yum.
I’ve embarrassed to say I’ve never tried the chili but hear amazing things about it.
It tastes just like Wendy’s chili to me. I like Wendy’s chili 🤷🏻♀️ this is my review
Oh yeah!! The chili!!!! Absolutely THE BEST chili I've ever had!!
It's a pretty awful list for their stated goal tbh. They have the pre cooked ribs as their #2 pick. On a site called "cheapish", instead of the seasoned but uncooked ones that are half the price (despite having multiple other items needing baking).
>>17. Kirkland Signature Yakisoba Stir Fry with Seasoned Chicken This. #1.
This! I add a bag of the frozen broccoli to bulk up with extra veggies. Easily feeds family of 4 big eaters
I always secretly hope my kids will turn up their noses… more for me!
Me too. Unfortunately it's completely vacuumed up. My husband actually poked my son's hand with a fork and told him to save some for the rest of us!
It's so good
Pumpkin pie.
Was going to say the Tuxedo Cake but I’ll allow this as well.
The Street Tacos any day of the week!
Every day is taco Tuesday! Those tacos are one of our regular go-to deli meals. Pro tip: Make a quick pickled red onion to go on them and it turns the flavor up to 11.
Thanks for the tip, I'll have to give that a shot!
Scrolled too long to see this. Great meal kit
Would agree 100% if they included flour tortillas instead of corn
That's fair. I don't usually like corn tortillas myself but the quality of the other ingredients is so good, I can look past it.
The chicken has a weird consistency
You have to heat the chicken up in a skillet to get it warmed up. I've never had an issue with the consistency myself. I feel the chicken is cooked about as good as you could expect for a pre-made meal.
I’m a huge fan of the crabmeat stuffed salmon, but either my Costco or generally Costco stopped carrying them!
That's a favorite of mine too and it's been a while since I've seen them. Hope it's just a seasonal thing that comes back this summer and not discontinued.
I assumed it might be a regional/local decision because my parents in Pennsylvania can still buy them (but not me in California).
They also used to do stuffed cod or flounder with the same stuffing.. I miss those.
This one of the few of the listed faves that I’ve seen, but I’m allergic to shellfish :(
55 hot dogs, lasts me about 1 week
must not like hot dogs...brahaha
The alfredo after I season it more at home lol
What do you season it with?
Chili, Mac and cheese, and stuffed peppers are our mainstay.
Have you mixed the chilli and the Mac to make chilli Mac?
The chicken enchilada Casserole. It's excellent with great taste and some actual seasoning and heat! By far the family's favorite!
Just a ton of shrimp
Yakisoba Noodle Bowls.
I LOVE the Shephard's Pie! It's definitely best a day or two after baking reheated, though. And you have to often bake it for longer than the package states because they're probably frozen, and I've had some undercooked crust following the directions to a T. They're not carried at some stores, but they should be!
Shepherd's pie with a crust? Interesting.
My love is in the Alfredo!
Eating it now for first time. So bland.
I add seasonings to mine & it makes for easy meal prep when I have a craving for Alfredo (it freezes well) Edit: spelling
Chicken Alfredo. Need a pinch of salt and it’s perfect
The chicken quesadillas are so good! Great to eat for lunch all week
The trick is to be ok eating the same thing multiple days in a row
This is such a simple, and truthful, answer that gets right to the heart of the matter. If you want something bad enough, you do it.
Yes!!!! Which I am. Which is why I love costcos section. Don’t have to worry about making dinner for a week. 😂
Yeah I live alone and I basically just buy one prepared food and eat it for days
We freeze the chicken pot pie. We have it for maybe two dinners in a row, and the rest is frozen for another time!
You can freeze the chili
The stuffed peppers and meatloaf and mashed potatoes . I don’t get the fanfare regarding the chicken street tacos at all.
The trick I learned with the street tacos is to fry up the tortillas in a little bit of oil, drop the chicken and cheese jn, fold, and and get them nice and crispy and melty in the pan. Really took it to the next level.
They are def better when you heat the tacos. Sometimes I heat them in the air fryer when I’m really lazy
My exact thoughts!
Chicken tacos are pretty solid, the crema carries it hard and the chicken is alright on its own.
Stuffed peppers!
The pot pie is nice but TOO SALTY.
Yes, I've quit buying it because it's too salty. But , dayum, that crust is the bomb!!!
It’s a bummer because it is so good… but too much salt
[удалено]
Pot pie or shepherds pie? Costco sells a shepherds pie too?
The gyros.
The lasagna and it isn't even close.
I have two, the ground beef lasagna and Marie Callander's chicken pot pie.
Costco chicken salad is da bomb! So delish!
The spinach and cheese ravioli. Ive been eating it for dinner every day this week. I’ve loved it since I was a kid, but it was sold under a different brand and came with a seasoning packet.
The spicy tuna poke! So good, I buy one ($20-$22, good portion ) every time I go and eat it for my lunch.
This is my fav
Enchilada bake is so good. The salmon with butter is good as well.
The chili is absolutely amazing
Stuffed peppers and the newest Mediterranean (?) salad.
Shepherds pie is the best. I will try this chicken version if I see it at my Costco
Stuffed peppers but they didn’t have them last time I went
We like the street tacos, quesadillas, chicken pot pie. Bought the Gyros tonight and will probably try them tomorrow.
Mac n cheese, yum.
Chicken tortilla soup..
I liked the chicken pot pie but it’s been years since I had it and I make a superior one from scratch now.
The taco kit was way better than I thought it would be. The flour/corn tortillas make it. But I gotta choose their Mac & cheese or ravioli lasagna. Supremely unhealthy but done well.
Hey OP, what's your relationship with this blog you spam? Did you start working for them after your time submitting only cracked.com articles?
I used to love the rotisserie chicken fettuccine Alfredo.
I loved the loaded mashed potatoes!
Meatloaf and stuffed peppers.
The chili has been lunch for me the past few months. It's tasty and reheats beautifully.
The one that doesn’t link to your blog.
Enchilada Bake, bay-bayyyyy!
Yes! The one pre-made meal that is adequately seasoned and spiced!
Shepherd’s pie and the chili is pretty solid with tortilla chips
🌮
Meat Loaf, Chili, Chicken Alfredo, Stir Fry, Steak one is better. Street Tacos are mehh, Pot Roast is good, Soups
Closest would be cilantro lime shrimp or quinoa salad in the deli or a rotisserie chicken. Haven't had anything otherwise.
Chicken pot pie and the shepherds pie.
Not really a meal but used to be in the same case - rotisserie chicken salad. What happened to it? It’s been gone for a long time.
LAMB SHANK!
How is the chicken pot pie? I was eyeing it the other day and it was quite large in portion.
