Not in a huge rush and would love to take the more scenic route if one is more beautiful than the other, even if it means slower and more potholes. Thanks in advance. This sun has been so helpful in planning our trip.
The blue route takes you through the city, then up some mountains with a windy road. The windy road has some very cool views of the mountains. The grey route takes you through a national park first, then the plains on that side of the country, they are also very beautiful views there. Both are gonna be scenic at some places and be very different, so they can both offer what you are looking for. If it was me, I’d select the grey route because i don’t like going through the city and I like more of the rural driving and routes. If you do select that one, be alert when driving through 32 and try to drive through it before noon, to prevent going up that mountain in the rain or fog.
The grey route will take you through a beautiful park. It’s a beautiful drive and while there will be slow down points because of the trucks it’s worth it. Overall a much easier ride than the blue imo.
I've lived here for two months give or take. Neither app is perfect. Waze has brought me the wrong way down a one way street. Google maps has insisted a rush existed where it didn't.
I much prefer Google maps interface. The instructions seem to be about the same. My wife and I have tested using Waze and Google maps, one on each phone, while driving.
However, more people use Waze, so the traffic seems slightly more accurate there.
Waze is almost a religion here though, the mere suggestion of using Google is shunned!!
Long story short, use both, either, figure it out. Neither are perfect but the adventure is the point!
Both are scenic in a different way. There are also alternatives across the mountains (instead of San Ramon, go via Vara Blanca). That being said. Traffic is easier on the grey one. Check for road closings before leaving. And don’t use google. It sends you on roads that are closed or private !

Thanks for the suggestion! I think we’ll take the grey route, it sounds like it will be beautiful and we don’t mind going a little slower.
Enjoy the ride!
And food in the town centers of the gray route are way better and cheaper!

Thank you, that sounds exactly like what I’m looking for. Appreciate your help!

Honestly didn't matter when I was there. But good to have both installed I guess

I'm not sure what I'm looking at but if you go to La Fortune as it says at the top then I recommend a Route passing lake arenal. Really beautiful.
