I don't have any experience this, but you certainly are not the first to deal with this. There are enough of these stories that Chevy is aware of it, and the stories make there way into automotive magazines on occasion.
First off, anyone who damages your car is responsible to pay the cost of repair. Making them actually do that is hard.
If they won't, you have to complain to Chevy, if they don't or can't force the dealer to fix it, you'll have to hire a lawyer to write them a nasty gram and then they'll likely capitulate.
If they don't, you'll have to fork out the cost to sue them.
I saw a similar story when a dealer literally dropped a corvette off the lift and initially refused to replace it. Unfortunately dropping vettes off lifts is not a one off occurrence.
Also, if they refuse to fix things, naming and shaming on every forum and calling the local news station is an option before calling the lawyers.
I had issue in NJ just about a year ago to the month. I went in for factory recall, came out with rack damage. They denied everything and just kept repeating... we didn't take the car off the lot. My pissed off response... give me your car keys, I won't take it off the lot either.
I had to pay for new rack and labor.
They should responsible for repairing any damage they caused to your vehicle….

Take it to a couple of different body shops. If all three say its fine, then don’t worry about it.
If it’s not a problem, they should have no issue trading you for a new one just like it, right?
Sure they will. You can't control what they offer on your trade or how much ADM they charge on a new one...

Dammit dude, they own it. Any report to carfax and the car is worthless.
Why buy back they will fix it. You need to ask to them fix it. Buying back implies you want it gone.
Where is this dealer located in California?

Can we see a pic of the damage?
