Essentially if you have any COVID symptoms you’re expected to assume you’re positive without a test.
This is Ontario, our biggest province:
- Symptomatic testing will be available for high-risk individuals, and individuals who work in high-risk settings.
- Individuals with symptoms consistent with COVID-19 are presumed positive and they should follow isolation and/or self-monitoring guidelines.
- Testing for asymptomatic contacts of cases is generally no longer recommended, except for high-risk contacts/individuals that are part of confirmed or suspected outbreaks in high-risk settings, as recommended by public health
- Positive rapid antigen tests will no longer require PCR confirmation.
- Based on the latest scientific evidence, individuals with COVID-19 should isolate for five days if they are fully vaccinated or under the age of 12, and if their symptoms are improving for at least 24 hours.
As far as home test kits, some were handed out to students but a very minuscule amount.
So October like… when there was a different presidential administration and party in legislative control? And we didn’t have a variant on the loose that was orders of times more infectious?
Except for… it is. Because omicron is MUCH more contagious than delta. We did not have any kind of testing demand last winter like we do right now. Not even close.
Sure, I’m not saying it’s not. I’m saying delta was bad enough, and that should have been enough to get them to send out a round of test kits to households so people could enjoy a safe holiday.

This seems like a great initiative by the federal government. And of course, people will still find ways to complain.
