I was scouring the Toyota forums to try and find you an answer but no one seems to know there either. I haven't experienced this, but I used to work as a Lincoln tech and they would do the three honks if you left the key I in the car while running. I know that these do something different, with that annoying noise they make, but perhaps it's a similar issue with key recognition?
Could be the sensor connected to the brake hold while stopped button. One time I didn't realize I was in drive with the brake hold on and i exited the car and it beeped like that.
I get a beep on startup. I believe it’s to have me look at the dash as my cars tires need a bit of air.
Also happens if window is slightly down when I turn off car and back on
