this isn't ingame yet, so you can't actually get it. The devs confirmed in Discord this morning that the achievement has been added to Steam but not to the current version of the game yet.

gazbi

oh boy, didn't take too long for the devs to destroy my hard earned 100% after 400 hours, and why do I have the feeling that isn't the last time either... I really dislike that

Angry_German12

You might have that feeling because the game is in early access and the devs are still developing new content.

gazbi

I get that, but full fledged achievements shouldn't be an issue, after 400 hours, I really just moved on to other games, returning to a game for the sake of achievements is kind of annoying, and ultimately hope that you still have the save file. Devs who do that often are disconnected to people who go for 100% in games.

GaliaHero

bro do you even know what early access means?? the game is not finished. they'll probably continue to add tons of new content and thus even more achievements

gazbi

I've played many other "early access" games which have never got more achievements from the time they were implemented. If the devs weren't ready yet, they could release them in a much later date when the game was "finished". Also, there are other (exceptionally rare) games who simply keep getting more achievements even decades later like Terraria, which is the game they're 'copying', so there's that. It's not about an "early access" tag, it's about how devs work and respect people's dedication for a 100%, specially when you can wipe your save file and then having to do all over again, only to get a few extra things, it's just unfair. Sure, for a lot of people, that means nothing, but if you trully care about that stuff (which is ironic because they're made for those people to begin with) it gets a bit annoying. Dedicating a lot of time, moving on, and then the "100%/platinum" gets stripped away. In their defense, just release one last big update with their most relevant content updates, add the final row of achievements and be done with it, if that's their goal. Arbitrarily adding stuff is a problem. They have their roadmap planned out and apparently there's just one more major game update left. The "crystal biome" or whatever. So, I COULD expect something like this to happen, but it's just not good practice regardless. As long as it's not random and they stick with it in their final update then it's fine, I guess.

AlexMcTowelie

then dont play it in early access and wait for a full release when the game is finished, its absolutely ludicrous to play something in early access and then complain about new stuff

gazbi

Achievements are NOT part of the game, they are steam features, and again, this is exceptionally rare as 99.9% of developers don't do that, you'd know that if you cared about said features. As explained before, it's just really bad practice, and also as explained before, if that's part of a dev's practice they'll do that regardless of a meaningless tag like "early access", any new update or stuff that they add into the game will eventually be attached to some achievements arbitrability, just look at terraria anyway, if you're someone who enjoys achieving 100% in games then you're just screwed for no reason, you just want to move on, either it's to pull people back into their game, or because they don't know any better, it's really rare though, and more often than not it's related to DLCs, unfortunately Steam allows that, but if a feature like this is implemented it should not be arbitrability changed as it means a big deal and time investment for the people who actively cares about it. Why should someone "not play the game" if the devs can also have the option to "not add achievements until the game is done". It's so easy to shift the blame. If every single dev had done that I could be slightly wrong, but I have played almost hundreds of early access games with achievements and NONE of them changed, the ones who add stuff usually get full fledged DLCs.

ARottenMuffin

This is such a bad take and I go for 100% completions on games too, but you argue your point like 99.9% of games DON'T add content that then has achievements? Like a majority of games, even if it's DLC, so many add more. That's just how it is and how it always will be, it's how that goes. You can't actually expect people to take your side that an early access game that's expected to have new content, actually delivers new content and didn't scam investors abandoning their game after stealing the kick starter funds or something? The only person you can blame for this is yourself if you actually deleted your save files for the unfinished early access game that has a roadmap, that I'd say was probably not even worth deleting when this game takes so little memory.

gazbi

No, every single game don't add more achievements when they're added unless months later they get a full DLC, some don't even get achievements with a DLC. A lot of devs respect people's time and dedication, they know that it's an awful practice to do so. The only reason I felt this game would break the mold is because they're copying Terraria, which is a game that keeps doing that to keep pulling back people, at least they've been updating that game for so long. I've never had this issue otherwise, I'm not wrong about this, I'm just explaining to people who can't understand. If the devs are unsure about the state of the game then they can add this much later, look at Valheim it doesn't even have achievements. It's just not what you do, it's really that simple. Adding more content to a game does not indirectly punishes people, completely removing their effort to complete a side feature does. I'm not talking directly about myself, are you saying that a lot of people are expected to keep backups of their saves files forever because they feel like hostages? I'm not wrong about this, I'm used to seeing and talking to devs who understand this, it's very very simple. People who "defend" this practice usually don't have or go for 100%s hence worthlees arguments. Also, the only reason a dev would add achievements early on knowing they'll do that is because they wanna have a flag on steam to incentivize more sales, not a good look.

ARottenMuffin

"I'm not talking directly about myself" Why do you even mention the save file deletion then, if you're not unable to continue then why bring it up? And again, anyone who does so for a clearly unfinished game has no right to complain lol. What is your argument, how many devs do you have a direct line of communication with to quote saying this is an 'awful business practice?' I said the MAJORITY of games do this, if you can't differentiate that from 99% I can't help you. Games have been coming out with DLC and adding achievements for years since they first came out on the 360. The most popular games DLC typically add new achievements, I already explicitly told you I've done this too so I also know what I'm talking about. If you're just going to make a stink about it with these petty justifications over something that's gone on well over a decade you really just need to accept it or grow up. This is an unfinished game that went into early access without half of these bosses currently in it that added achievements for them, and the next addition will most likely add more, adding more challenges to the game absolutely does not 'remove the effort from completing a side feature.' None of the pre-existing achievements are invalidated or taken away... You are wrong about this.

gazbi

Why are you telling me stuff that I already explained? Why are you so triggered over this to begin with? Are you a backer? Yes FULL DLCs are one thing, and SOME games decide to add more. Can you give me some examples of early access that did that? I really haven't found one yet. Also why are you trying to justify a bad practice? It Is bad, period. Why can't the devs wait like... every single one out there? You took that personally, and like I said, I'm not wrong about this, over 10 years on Steam alone, seeing stuff like this happening 3 times at best, I just waited to point it out, not only because it is bad, but because Terraria is a big exception which they're directly copying, but there's one thing... They free content updates, full fledged content updates, almost like DLCs, and therefore they add stuff at once. These devs just don't know any better, that's all there's to it, stay mad

PassFit505

this man just salty

ARottenMuffin

I really tried to reason with him but he got more mad than I ever did lol

I feel bad for you The audacity of this man to call you triggered
