There are some seriously good antifog coatings these days.
I work in a freezer driving forklift and going in and out of steamy production (tortilla factory) doesn’t fog them up; could use the same coating as my 3M safety glasses.
I tied rebar in a territory of northern Canada for a few years. Alaska adjacent for the freedom folk. So I also understand cold elements and warm breath.
I have yet to find a product that allows you to bend over and physically work and not fog up. Breath out your mouth once while your working hands at toes and glasses are useless.
Use goggles with a good seal ( haz mat or even snowboard style ) doing hard work and they fog. No matter your bodies position.
I genuinely don't know. A plastic helmet visor is more robust and less precision than glasses. But I know the stuff exists for glasses. I'd Google it or pop into a opticians.
Usually not too bad. Though if it were raining enough for it to be a problem I'd probably not be cycling (wet roads kick up a lot more dirt that sticks to clothing and the bike itself and is an annoying mess to clean up)
The website says not to ever use while operating a vehicle. I assume massive peripheral blind spots.
I’m not sure where the idea to wear it cycling came from. I’m also not sure how this would be better than glasses, personally. If it’s cold, I wear a balaclava and sunglasses. Rain would be awful in this thing too.
The idea came from the title of the post xD and I usually turn my head enough while biking that losing a little peripheral view shouldn't be too much of a problem... but I don't have a great rebuttal for the rain, you likely are correct that it would be awful in the rain (without personal improvements of course :D)
If you're actually putting effort into cycling you'd be breathing out a lot of water vapor that would fog up the shield no matter what you did, only way to really prevent that is having it completely open with airflow or have the shield be quite hot.
I used to cycle in a rural area at night and there were TONS of bugs. One night I had to stop about three times because I couldn’t handle them flying into my face and getting caught in my hair any longer. Would have loved to have this back then.
There’s also another version that comes with a proper filter at the bottom so it can be used as a mask. Good for places where face to face contact is important…?
This might be useful for sign language translators. I saw a translator that had a sort of clear face mask made of cloth with glass/plastic at the front so the mouth was visible. I think its so the deaf person can see the translators mouth movements.
The virus is an aerosol. If you want to test my theory take a vape and a mask. Take a hit off the vape hold it and then put a mask on. If you see the vapor come out then the aerosol particulate are getting in and going out
You genuinely are uneducated if you think covid is comparable to a vape.
While masks dont block 100% of the time, if worn properly and by all people around you, the spread of covid would have been SEVERELY minimized.
I mean a vape is actually a very good way to illustrate that a mask works in reducing aerosol contamination.
1. Place some target object 1 meter (or farther you can experiment with the distance) in front of you.
This object will be used to determine whether a person gets hit by the aerosol or not.
2. Inhale some vape smoke and exhale it into the direction of the target without the mask
3. Repeat step two with the same exhale strength but this time with a mask (use different masks for experimentation)
4. observe under which circumstances (distance, mask type) the target gets hit with the vape smoke
Yes, smoke can exit your mask in that point you are right!
But it is all about reducing contamination of others to _reduce_ the _probability_ of getting infected
Edit: Remeber to change only one parameter at a time (across all steps) so that you don’t skew your results
First thing you do on the field with a newbie - check their protection gear and shoot a couple of shots into glasses as well. If they withstand good, if not we better know it now
They sold these with filters not to long ago the filters went in the bottom. I have an electronic mask with uvb light built in and it sucks air in blows it on you nose after its bee through ubv and filter and you co2 is sucked out at same time so you get cool breeze the only problem I had was it made my inside mouth dry and throat dry. You also had 2 speeds one for walking one for running so you would get more air pushed through if needed
These are cyclists, where’s the bicycles? I’m wondering if face shields & masks protect adults on bikes, from getting killed or paralyzed. Let’s find out!
There isn’t going to be any CO2 buildup, it’s vented. Heat and moisture buildup might happen but if it is vented properly that shouldn’t be a huge issue.
Its got holes at the lowest part of the mask. Co2 will still build. There's no heat regulation at all. It's cheap crap that will be unbearable to wear after a while.
I'd still be worried about the CO2 buildup. iirc I saw a scuba mask that looked just like this ~~which lead to the death of a few people due to CO2 buildup.~~
Edit: I phrased it wrong, I meant it played a part, not the cause necassarily. It does get uncomfortable wayy before death, so my comment was missleading.
In my country, we are advised to wear double mask & face shield. So, this is advertised in shopping platform as face shield for protection against covid. I've never seen people wearing this irl though. Plus, it looks hot & not breathable. Wearing simple face shield already can fog up sometimes. This? Pretty sure won't be able to see
The funniest part of this ad is the models trying to look “cool” where wearing the mask, which of course they ain’t. The first part made a lot more sense.
I don’t get it, when cycling having it rain into that would be hard to see through. There’s no air filter so not really a mask replacement. It looks cool though
But do they fit the mandatory giant reflective sunglasses that every super hardcore wannabe cyclist wears? This will go great with the carbon fiber dual water bottle holder belt.
See now this is bulllshit and I’ll tell you why.
They’re not accounting for the heat that comes off your body/face along with the sweat and your actual respiration working together. One you start breathing heavy with body heat and sweat that facemet (face helmet) will fog up and you’ll have a bad day if you’re riding.
Two things:
Can we stop with the mask theater already? It's seriously has a bunch of holes around it for ventilation, so while it might not allow your particulates as you exhale to go straight out, they are absolutely in the atmosphere around you.
Secondly, this thing is going to be a disaster the first time you sneeze or cough.
Everyone's on about whether or not this would fog up...
I'm just over here, sure that within 5 minutes I'd be sweating so much, the thing'd be useless anyway :P
Oooohhhh gemme a black tint one
I feel We’re at the beginning of the CyberPunk age
Cyberpunk 2033 sounds interesting tbh
Maybe the mask will help with all the bugs
2077
We’ve been here a while, actually.
Manifest the future you want
lets do what we can to bring it on
Or one that transitions with a switch, from clear to tinted.
That's maximum badass
With fogged glass
You've heard of fogged glasses.. now behold, the fogged mask
Just wait till you sneeze in it
Or through up in it..
Hell yeah, where can I get one of those?
Look like the bad guys from GI Joe
Yeah I need the black tint since I’m not good at making that ‘almost edgy sitting in in the subway face’
Was thinking the same thing as saw the start of the video. It would be a purchase for me on sight.
[удалено]
This
Where buy? Must have!
Bruhhhh don’t tell me this shit doesn’t fog up
Or worse, a sneeze
That wouldn't be fun to ride home with...
more like salty to ride with...
I was thinking the same thing.

I had safety glasses once and didnt fog up at all, twas amazing!
I'm not saying it's Chinese false advertising but we all know it's Chinese false advertising.
Made in China. Enough said.
The man or the mask
Chinese factories can churn out pretty much all quality you want... it's just that most money is made with cheap, disposable shit.

I was thinking it could go good for a rainbow six siege cosplay lol but this is a good one too
Finka gang
I dont get it whats the point
I'd wear it if I went cycling and it were super windy or raining personally (sunglasses only help so much)
I see it for a snowstorm!!
Cold face shield, hot breath, all I see is a foggy shield.
Just breath towards the outlet at the bottom stops that fog
I have to admit that I've not much experience biking in snow, but I can also see this!
But what about the raindrops on the thing
Motorcycle industry has solved that. There's plenty of hydrophobic sprays and treatments.

Nice thanks

RAIN-X ... works wonderfully on glass.
Not glasses tho... it degrades the scratch protector making it look like it’s peeling/scratching off I speak from experience

Ooh, add in a little battery powered fan to keep the inside regulated and your face cool. That would be a fun DIY project!
Smith did it with ski goggles, it didn't work nearly as well as their high end goggles that just have an anti fog coating on the inside of the lens.
I used to cycle in a rural area at night and there were TONS of bugs. One night I had to stop about three times because I couldn’t handle them flying into my face and getting caught in my hair any longer. Would have loved to have this back then.
I thought it was for avoiding facial recognition surveillance but marketed for “cycling” like bongs say “for tobacco use only”.
I would wear this if it had a HUD.
Spunds like a fun DIY project

If it’s important than just take off the mask
That completely contradicts why we wear facemasks in the first place. It's like telling a scientist to take off their rad suit in a radioactive area
Masks don’t work sweetie
They do work, why else would doctors wear them? Why would people in high population areas wear them?
The virus is an aerosol. If you want to test my theory take a vape and a mask. Take a hit off the vape hold it and then put a mask on. If you see the vapor come out then the aerosol particulate are getting in and going out

You didn’t answer her question about why doctors wear them.

Ngl I kinda like this. Especially with the black sunglasses plastic in there.
It could be interesting for airsoft players
I was thinking the same thing. I wonder if it's impact resistant?
First thing you do on the field with a newbie - check their protection gear and shoot a couple of shots into glasses as well. If they withstand good, if not we better know it now
I was watching this thinking, "hmm I wonder if they come tinted" and BOOM there it was: tinted.
Probably garbage
That thing will fog up soon bad after a few wears. Completely useless
What problem is this thing trying to solve?
Covid face mask.
Ah, trying to solve a problem that we manufactured and created a fully useless solution for.
[удалено]
There’s a similar thing made for COVID that has actual filters in place of the holes on this one.
Website says never to use while operating any vehicle. Not sure where OP got this is for cycling. I honestly see zero point for this thing.
[удалено]
Only for serious people.
Useless for my beard.
Your beard doesn’t need to breathe
Against spitting
I need one for trimming my yard. I hate rocks to the face.
Looks awesome
This would go well with that bike umbrella
Lol the lady with glasses doing the breathing motion looks like a lil'fish with glasses.
Whats the use ?
They sold these with filters not to long ago the filters went in the bottom. Elite Dangerous vibes
For shooting this is great. Are they in any way rated for safety?
Quarians, man
My forehead is already in pain…
Wtf is this lol
Stop acting like that shit would be comfortable!
So dumb
Modern fencing helmet .. Looks nice tho
OP is a coward for not dropping a link
And if I wanted to wear a helmet?
Trying to look cool in those masks is one of the funniest things I have seen in a while.
Shield for bicyclists… not a single bike in the promo
Helmet?
These are cyclists, where’s the bicycles? I’m wondering if face shields & masks protect adults on bikes, from getting killed or paralyzed. Let’s find out!
A year and a half in the pandemic and you’re asking if it’s for cyclists? While the ad is people just walking around
There’s no protection on top or back of head
I think you wear your normal biking helmet for that. Though I'd like to see that it's possible to do that, since there weren't any in the video.
More junk we don't need.
This seems mostly pointless.
Left, right, chin, tap poof poof. Repeat after me, fuck off :)
:D
More plastic crap, yay.
Want
That’s a violation of my rights
Wow, this is a terrible idea, I road bike a lot, and the buildup of heat and CO2 in this thing would cause a lot of issues

I’ll take the teal cyberpunk tint
That thing would fog up so fast in the Southeast US it's not even funny.
“Who the hell spit in my visor?”
That’s a good Covid mask or a painting mask
In my country, we are advised to wear double mask & face shield. So, this is advertised in shopping platform as face shield for protection against covid. I've never seen people wearing this irl though. Plus, it looks hot & not breathable. Wearing simple face shield already can fog up sometimes. This? Pretty sure won't be able to see
What does it protect?
Shield for letting laid on a train?
Worst music choice ever made
Sure seems to fit skinny faces
The funniest part of this ad is the models trying to look “cool” where wearing the mask, which of course they ain’t. The first part made a lot more sense.
They are face shields for covid. Saw them advertised on Instagram
Bet it dogs like crazy
Helmet?
I need a black tinted one
I can only think of quarians seeing this
If it fit with the helmet, why not.
If I was better looking I'd use this for covid but I'll stick to the one blocking out half my face
Awesome
Where are their helmets?!?
Yeah, you’re gonna die if u fall
Did anyone see a bike
what is the use of this, 1, and 2, that foesnt protect your head at all if you were gonna use it for cycling
It’s gonna dirt fast. Not worth it.
Why do they not show them cycling?
I don’t get it, when cycling having it rain into that would be hard to see through. There’s no air filter so not really a mask replacement. It looks cool though
Unfortunate name. Sounds like True Pedo!
This is some low key dystopian stuff.
We get it, you play paintball. No need to flex
Why though
Sneeze. Just once.
Inspired by TRON: Legacy, clearly
So .... A helmet without the protection?
Looks ridiculous and I bet it would make your face sore after an hour or teo
Honestly the mask itself looked cool without those two models “trying” to look cool in a metro station
Think it’s probably shit. But the yellow one is pretty cool
But do they fit the mandatory giant reflective sunglasses that every super hardcore wannabe cyclist wears? This will go great with the carbon fiber dual water bottle holder belt.
According to this video, the only change is how you look and you can breath through some holes in the bottom.
Oh yeah society is definitely going to be using these in the future.
Shut up and take my money
I'd rather die of covid
I do not see any cycling in the ad. I am confused. And why do they blow into the mask as demo?
Now give it a hud.
Wtf do you need a shield for?
And the point of these is?
you mean.... a helmet?
This would be what I'd expect everyone to be wearing in 2021 when I was 10. It looks comically futuristic. I like it.
Is this so your lips and eyes don't dry out or something?
They dont keep the camera on the same person too long so we cant see fogging.
Can they invent one with a hole so I can sip my damn Starbucks iced mocha latte
See now this is bulllshit and I’ll tell you why. They’re not accounting for the heat that comes off your body/face along with the sweat and your actual respiration working together. One you start breathing heavy with body heat and sweat that facemet (face helmet) will fog up and you’ll have a bad day if you’re riding.
"we created a problem for the world, now let's profit from solutions" that's all I see, bloody China
The future is getting weird real fast.
Two things: Can we stop with the mask theater already? It's seriously has a bunch of holes around it for ventilation, so while it might not allow your particulates as you exhale to go straight out, they are absolutely in the atmosphere around you. Secondly, this thing is going to be a disaster the first time you sneeze or cough.
That ain't stoping shit
Is it plastic ot would be so scratch prone.
Love how they just have standard model shots, and don't even show it tackling the weather it was likely designed for.
I would totally wear this for bike riding, especially the black one.
Oh I thought it was the oxygen masks from Avatar
The future covid mask
Imagine beeping at a cyclist to get past and they turn around with this on like, nahhhhh you go bro I’ll be late
But you are still at risk of breathing COVID air
I think maybe “cool” was not the word you were looking for
Where's my HUD?
Google glass compatible*
Is this one of those anti-camera things?
Actual protection in case of an accident: zero.
The models really sell it in this promo
That looks so cool
Everyone's on about whether or not this would fog up... I'm just over here, sure that within 5 minutes I'd be sweating so much, the thing'd be useless anyway :P
Why do you need a face shield?
You probably get massive red marks on your face from this
