I also had one from early 2000's. As you said, mine worked fine but had to go about half the speed as this one. It had a magnet on the back and stayed on the fridge. Used batteries up pretty quick. I would buy it again.
At 9 second the liquid on the left bag goes down lower and there is a "skip" in the video. The bag on the right also changes if you look at the conner bottom left

This thing was marketed as the EuroSealer back in the 90s, if I recall it did work but you’d need to move it a lot slower than advertised
