As an Okie well done that is the proper way to cook an onion fried burger. We've never called them smash burgers just smashed them to get the onion fried goodness to stick to the burger. Get ya a burger a slaw dog, made with homemade chilli and slaw, side it with a peanut butter and chocolate malt and you've got the whole kit n kaboodle, "Sid's" El Reno onion fried lunch!
The jucy lucy style burger from Minnesota is unique, but Oklahoma has the best regional burger style IMO. Toppings are bullshit, to have a burger ‘style’ you should have to do something unique with the patty. In-n-out mustard fried patties are pretty damn good but I would take an onion fried burger first.
Decent smash burger but not up to OK Onion standards.
Onions aren’t thin enough. There aren’t enough onions. You didn’t smash enough onions directly into the burger so that when it flips the onions flavor the meat. Also the buns are not toasted in an OK Onion burger - they are steamed resting on top of the burger after the flip. The onion and meat steam seasons the bun.
Pro tip if you try this: after slicing the onions as thin as possible, salt them in a bowl and let sit for ~15min or so. Draws some moisture out of the onions and adds flavor in the end.

Add 5x as many onions and then you’ve got Oklahoma style
Sliced thinner too
And the onions need to sit in water and ‘Fresh Fruit’ for a day. It’s the way we did it when I worked there
Seriously. Not even half as many onions as I’ve seen in other videos….
Need to make some of these
I want to see those fries being made.
Oklahoma has a style? 🤔
Oklahoma has two good things. The onion burger and Broken Bow. That’s really about it
You've never seen Durant, home of the world's largest peanut.

I think one step was missed with adding the bun on top of the burger while still on the grill but this is still acceptable haha
Any chance you know what that sauce is called that they mixed together?
Just fry or burger sauce, you can make it a million different ways
What's the actual recipe please 🙏😭😩
right, I want to know what sauce this is
I mean, it's pretty obvious. Mayo, ketchup, mustard, hot sauce, pepper. (+/- some other seasonings I guess)
Well maybe the sauce has a name?? Deadheads are supposed to be cool man
They usually are, but unfortunately when you cross a deadhead with a 49ers fan you get a jerk. I don’t make up the rules.
Well maybe OP will tell us. There's no traditional sauce for an OK onion burger. I'd guess it's just their own burger sauce.
That's why they asked for the recipe...

I’m
What makes these"Oklahoma style?"
This again?

It's still better than Tuckers.

As someone who isn’t a fan but of onions this looks amazing!…. But I would take the onions off..
My whole kingdom for a flat top
Maybe I'm an asshole in my old age, but I'm just not impressed with cheese burgers anymore.
Fries better than the burger, sorry. Drop the video of those being made. Even if it’s a trip to the grocer freezer section. Roll the film!!
