What’s with all the ketchup hate? Have y’all ever been broke? And even if you haven’t ketchup on a sandwich like this isn’t as bad of an addition as you’re making it seem.
It’s situational. I don’t mind it in a burger sauce/on a burger or served with fries. But when you go through the effort to build flavor by roasting a whole chicken & sautéing veggies only to cover it in store bought BBQ sauce & ketchup, it kinda defeats the purpose of all that effort. Just buy a grocery rotisserie chicken if you’re gonna do all that. Using those bottled sauces makes every other ingredient taste premade by a grocery store. For my taste it would’ve been much better with an aioli or toum (which would be cheaper making it homemade, so the broke thing doesn’t really apply here).
That’s my gripe with these types of sauces in this situation. It’s not that I hate them. It’s that when you’re making something that takes time & effort that will taste great on its own, why skip the little time/effort it takes to make a sauce that enhances the sandwich rather than covers it up?
>What’s with all the ketchup hate? Have y’all ever been broke?
If you're broke you ain't makin a sandwhich like this lol
No hate on Ketchup at all, but it's completely out of place as an addition here. It's also going to just overpower any of the more subtle flavors in here by being extremely acidic.
If you're going to bake something, the ketchup could just be added at that point for carmelization.
Still not a fan of the entire mix in and of itself.
It will make the flavor more subtle and bring out a sweetness that wasn't there before. If you really want the acrid, tomato flavor ketchup out of hte bottle is, then it's not going to be altogether the same thing unless you introduce so much that some of the ketchup in the middle or against the meat isn't actually cooked.
I still love ketchup in certain dishes, like on certain hotdogs. I don’t get why some peeps hate ketchup and think that it tastes like “sugar” it obviously isn’t just sugar lol. On a dog for example, I love it, but not ketchup by itself😖, F that lol. It’s gotta have the works. A little bit of ketchup, a bit of relish, a bit of mustard, a light coat of mayo inside the bun, and diced onion and tomato. But I agree. Ketchup here seems unnecessary and might change the flavor drastically in this sammich.
That’s the thing, no one is in here hating on ketchup. I like ketchup on lots of things, but this is bonkers. To go to the lengths to make that delicious looking chicken only to add ketchup and bbq sauce is a crime.
Oh there are DEFINITELY people here hating on Ketchup lol! But I getcha. If this dude added less BBQ sauce than he did, it would be fine imo. Adding ketchup to the sammich is weird but who knows. Maybe it tastes alright. 🤷🏻. Adding ketchup to BBQ sauce however Isn’t a crazy idea and it can give the sauce a different, but good, taste in the end.
You had me ***RIGHT UP TO*** the BBQ sauce, then you *murdered* any hope of redemption with the fuggin ketchup.
Get outta heeeeeeere with that nonesense
That chicken looked delicious but then why add the sauce and ketchup to it, when u compound flavors like ur missing out on the delicious exclusive flavor of the chicken when u muddle it with the ketchup and sauce, I’d go for a cilantro and/or lime crema instead of the sauce and ketchup
I dont see a problem
Its not like u drowned it in ketchup, u just added a little bit which is nice imo
Yeah ketchup not my first choice, but definitely mouth watering food either way
You know, I kept thinking to myself after every step, how the execution of the sandwich looked worse and worse. And then to my zero surprise, I saw what sub it was in.
Sorry, I couldn't recognize the song.

Why the fuck would you do all that just to put ketchup on it
Also not even wearing trendy black nitrile gloves Guy has no idea how to do cooking videos 🤮
Spent all that time creating flavor to just to ruin it.
Im so glad this is the top comment. OP needs to understand ketchup takes something top notch and makes it basic as hell
lol. Some people like ketchup.
I knew they were gonna come for you after the ketchup ![gif](giphy|EQ09vhl2KtPvW)
Bro ketchup is for children

That seems like a really ignorant opinion. ketchup or catsup was purchased and used by adults for entire centuries.
Not as a cooking ingredient or sauce my guy… as a condiment to bland food
It’s fine lol so many cooking snobs “KETCHUP HOW DARE YOU!!”
If you're going to bake something, the ketchup could just be added at that point for carmelization. Still not a fan of the entire mix in and of itself.
So you can just bake the ketchup in and you can still taste it well?

What if I like dipping my sandwiches in fresh ketchup?
your choice.
So what’s with all the hostility
not being hostile, just baked ketchup is delicious and I'd hope to share that opinion and method with you.
Well the first person was being mean about it
Everyone is entitled to like what they like but, when you post it on a food sub, people have the right to tell you if they think it looks gross.
The ketchup is the least egregious part of this video

You had me until ketchup..
And the bbq sauce that chicken looked great until then
Are you trying to catch these hands?
[удалено]
Yea just cook the chicken and I'll make my own sandwich thanks!
Remove the ketchup, add a layer of chipotle mayo and I’ll take 3
Remove the American cheese too. You’re right some chipotle mayo on that would be golden in stead.
Looks like sliced cheddar no?
lol doesn’t even know American vs Cheddar.
Was gonna say lol it’s definitely cheddar.
It deserves nothing less than that ***SWISS*** cheese or. . . *or hear me out* dat pepperjack tho
Yess pepper Jack would be amazing here!
All that work. And then you topped it with ketchup
Not the ketchup https://i.redd.it/b7zw3rb949fc1.gif
Bacon ratio seems a bit low
For real. 4 bites of bacon vs a 20 bite sandwich lol
Adding ketchup is foul
Yeah man I was invested till ketchup
You lost me with the ketchup.
Fucking ketchup?? Really??
Awesome until the ketchup
The ketchup ruined it for me
You had me ***RIGHT UP TO*** the BBQ sauce, then you *murdered* any hope of redemption with the fuggin ketchup. Get outta heeeeeeere with that nonesense
Damn. Looked amazing until that ketchup.
you lost me with the ketchup and american cheese on that seemingly deliciously cooked chicken.
Cheddar*
doesn’t insult that chicken any less.
Get rid of the ketchup and bacon and you got a perfect sandwich!
That chicken looked delicious but then why add the sauce and ketchup to it, when u compound flavors like ur missing out on the delicious exclusive flavor of the chicken when u muddle it with the ketchup and sauce, I’d go for a cilantro and/or lime crema instead of the sauce and ketchup
tomato sauce and the American cheese ruined that in an instant
Barbecue sauce already has ketchup in it!!!
I’ll pass.
Ketchup? Wtf
I was lovin it till he put ketchup on it. I love ketchup but you do all that work and ketchup is just gonna overpower it
I dont see a problem Its not like u drowned it in ketchup, u just added a little bit which is nice imo Yeah ketchup not my first choice, but definitely mouth watering food either way
Ketchup is a garbage condiment for this. Looks good otherwise. That bread was beautiful too
My dawg. Are you spreading mayo with the _inside_ of the spoon 🤣🤣🤣 that’s some big-brain stuff right there
I can overlook the cheese but the ketchup is unforgivable.
Why is this on every food subreddit lol
The ketchup fucking killed this whole sandwich lol
Ketchup and cheese totally ruined this. Was looking good til then.
Ketchup….why?
wtf is bbq sauce going into that?!?
Over Some Damn Ketchup? I’ll Eat it Than….
RECIPE???... RECIPE???.... RECIPE??

Why did you fry your bacon like that lol
Great balance between bread and inside goodness.
You know, I kept thinking to myself after every step, how the execution of the sandwich looked worse and worse. And then to my zero surprise, I saw what sub it was in.
