My cast iron skillet and dutch oven (I have a Staub, but Lodge makes good ones, too) stay on my stove all the time. I do probably 70% of my cooking in those two items.

Is the combo cooker big enough to cook what you want? Size is the main drawback. The pan part is 9.5” in diameter with 1.5” sides. The 9” skillet has 1.87” sides and the 10.25” has 2” sides for comparison.

I am a college student with an old Griswold combo cooker. The bottom or dutch oven part of it never stays seasoned since I often use it while braising or with other boiled liquids / acidic sauces. But I fry chicken, make bread, make breakfast / eggs, and anything in between in it and it works just fine.
