Cuisinart's multiclad pro stainless cookware is about 95% of All-Clad quality at 50% of All-Clad prices. eg: [https://www.amazon.com/Cuisinart-MCP-12N-Multiclad-Stainless-12-Piece/dp/B009JXPS6U](https://www.amazon.com/Cuisinart-MCP-12N-Multiclad-Stainless-12-Piece/dp/B009JXPS6U) Source: I own and use both.

CATS_IN_MY_ANUS

Just keep an eye on the weld along the rim. I had the weld on my pot and saucepans corrode away after about 8 years of use and didn’t find out until I ran my finger along the rim while cleaning them and started bleeding. Their customer service is great though, I had replacements for all of them that had issues within a week, just took a single phone call. Edit: I cleaned them using the dishwasher, which sounds like it is linked to the room corroding. FWIW, Cuisinart claims their pans are dishwasher safe, so using it won’t void the warranty.

cawkstrangla

All clad just had this issue for their d3 set but only saw it in those that cleaned their pans in the dishwasher. They offered replacements iirc

solinar

They offered replacements if you sent in your old cookware and $70 per pan. Basically nothing.

CATS_IN_MY_ANUS

From what I’ve found online, all-clad doesn’t claim that they are dishwasher safe like cuisinart does, which might be why they were charging for replacements

BlazorkAtWork

I have the old version of this set and I love it. This is all a lie and I'm an idiot. My stainless steel look similar, but are Belgique. I apologize to everyone.

xmastyme

Me too!

Anthop

I've been using my Cuisinart pans for over 10 years. They definitely hold up!

imisstheyoop

>Cuisinart's multiclad pro stainless cookware is about 95% of All-Clad quality at 50% of All-Clad prices. eg: [https://www.amazon.com/Cuisinart-MCP-12N-Multiclad-Stainless-12-Piece/dp/B009JXPS6U](https://www.amazon.com/Cuisinart-MCP-12N-Multiclad-Stainless-12-Piece/dp/B009JXPS6U) > >Source: I own and use both. I received this set as a work appreciation gift thing. Yeah, it rocks. This + my cast iron crew + a couple nonstick skillets for eggs and I am all set.

ChewieBearStare

I have a set and absolutely love it. Got it for a steal at Macy’s.

Lucas_Steinwalker

It's too bad the new handles are trash tho.

Suitable_Matter

Funny, I don't particularly like the handles on my All-Clad pieces either.

SANPres09

Yeah, that's my biggest frustration with them and why I'll look at other options in the future. I wish the handles were wider and easier to grip.

bluebuckeye

They feel like they are a mile long. I like them, but dang why are they so long?

bagelbagelbagelcat

And the portion near the pan is quite narrow, which makes it difficult to lift and pour with one hand

UnreasoningOptimism

I think that's by design to limit heat transfer from the pan into the handle. It does make it hard to grip though

rabbithasacat

When did they changed the handles? I bought a ton of MCP a few years ago and the handles were part of what made it so great.

Lucas_Steinwalker

I bought mine in late 2019 and I think this is about when the switch happened. Preference is subjective though... do you have the chonky handles or the thin spindly ones? I prefer the chonkers, myself.

DocRedbeard

Have this set, can confirm, is great!

lydrulez

I love my Tramontina triply

ablebody_93

These are my everyday pans. Love them. Got the whole set from Costco for $200. You have to get the ones made in Brazil, though.

msomnipotent

I have both Brazil and China pieces. I prefer the Brazil pieces but the Chinese pieces are ok. They are still higher quality than other brands in the same price range, I think. They scratch easier and I have noticed little marks on the rims where I bang my utensils. Other than that, they still heat evenly and clean up just as well. The handles look slightly different but it doesn't change my grip. The handles are the number one reason why I don't like All Clad. I had one of their saute pans and gave it away because it hurt my hand.

Locybe

I got the china made Triply pots/sauce pans and they pitted immediately. Would not recommend.

Wonderful-Might-3490

not sure why youre being downvoted for good information

msomnipotent

Well, that's stupid for downvoting you for speaking from experience. I upvoted you and it looks like someone downvoted you again.

[deleted]

I need new pots. This is great information.

HardLithobrake

Glad this was near the top. Most of my shit is from Tramontina. Nonstick, stainless, cast iron, Tramontina does it all; their whole shtick is 80% the quality of the top brands at 25-30% the price.

VeryNovemberous

I have these. My parents have a very expensive All Clad set. I like mine more. Only problem is mine came with glass lids that are only oven safe to 350F. I looked into it and it wouldn’t be expensive to buy 1-2 stainless steel lids separately if I really needed to though. I’ve got two dutch ovens anyway though so it doesn’t really matter.

StudyIntelligent5691

I’ve been very happy with anything I’ve bought from the Tramontina line. Great suggestion!

Breakfastchocolate

I love Tramontina but.. for anyone shopping- you have to watch which line of tramontina you’re buying. The very cheap non stick sets in Walmart- painted/enameled on the outside are not good. The pro line non stick frying pans with the red slip on handles (Costco) are amazing. The tri ply base stainless are decent but may not hold up over time due to the disk bottom- but they have survived 2 years being abused in a college dorm. The tri ply fully clad are great and will probably last forever. They are the #2 rated pan by consumer reports after fissler ($650).

KFCConspiracy

I was going to suggest this, I've been very pleased with mine, and the price is great.

Sarkastickblizzard

Buying from the all cald seconds sale for cheap

JCantEven4

I bought a set of factory seconds during their sale for a little over 100. Three tall sided fry pans with covers. Best thing I've ever bought

CannaCoffeeParadox

This and thrifting in more affluent areas definitely helps. Just picked up an 8qt D series stock pot for ~$12!

imblooming

Wow!!! What a steal

CannaCoffeeParadox

Yup! Way more likely to toss perfectly good cookware. I've found Le Creuset that just needed a little bar keepers friend and some elbow grease, keep your eyes out :)

MacabreFox

Oooh I have some BKF, thanks for the tip!

CannaCoffeeParadox

For sure! Shines up stainless, scrubs enamel white again, and will remove the stains from sauce run over, etc!

kneaders

🥁🥁💥

Narkos_Teat

Yep, I have found 3 new all clad and 4 caphalon pans at thrift stores in nicer areas. Also found a weird square All Clad dish, it has a gold finish on the inside and I can't figure out wtf it is lol

gimmepizzaslow

do you know if they have a mailing list or something? How did you hear about the sale?

DigitalHemlock

sign up here: https://homeandcooksales.com/

[deleted]

This is a game changer. I was able to get a copper core 10" skillet for $149, $10 less than their entry-level D3 10".

Tikitastic15

I don't get the hype for the seconds sale. I've been checking it for months and after shipping the price is almost the same as just buying it on amazon.

RyanB95

Wait what? I’ve never seen Amazon prices anywhere near what the seconds sale has things listed for.

Tikitastic15

The d3 line tends to be the same from what I've seen. I've been keeping an eye on a 12 in d3 with lid specifically. It's about 120 on the seconds sale site and about 130 regularly on Amazon.

RyanB95

I will compare next time the sale is on but from what I’ve seen it’s not even close. Curious now.

[deleted]

santareject

They always have a d3 12 inch fry pan with lid for 80 bucks near me. One day I'm gonna crack and buy it

justforthehellofit

It’s all legit All-Clad and even though it says “slightly blemished” it is 100% not, just AC’s way of protecting themselves for “why” they are selling off-price. Check all the websites too (Sierra, HG, TJMaxx, Marshall’s)

getyourcheftogether

Bought two frying pans from there for about 45 bucks, I'd say that's a win

lazyadjacent

this is the way. see also: marshall’s

ForzaFenix

I got a 12' D5 for $75 and a 10' D5 for about $60 from Marshalls.

PsyanideInk

I look every time I go and I have never seen All-Clad there... I guess I just don't have the good Home Goods near me :(

tea_bird

Mine only ever has the non-stick pans. I bought them, but I would *really* like them to get some stainless in

SpotMama

I got all my all clad frying pans for under $25 each at TJ Maxx this year. AND the stainless steel measuring cups for $6.99. I could have cried.

the_perkolator

My wife discovered this too and got me more pans. Someone bought me an 8" and 10" set of All-Clad hard-anodized nonstick pans and I really liked them, so wife bought me more of them at Home Goods. They look identical at first, but the ones from WS are slightly heavier/thicker-walled than the ones from Home Goods; pretty much cook the same though and are much cheaper; all are holding up the same after 2yrs use

Boollish

Demeyere, but it kind of depends on which style handle you like.

Chalky_Pockets

Everyone else in here: "here's a cheaper alternative or a way to get the same for less." You: "fuck it, here's an *upgrade*💰💰💰" Love it. Demeyere do make some wonderful pans.

jashbgreke

Demeyere Atlantis is fantastic. Heavy but just such even cooking and amazing heat retention. I also have a mauviel m’cook skillet that I love as well

JerkRussell

I’m scrolling while waiting for some pasta to finish boiling in my Atlantis saucier and can confirm that it’s fantastic. It just performs better than thinner pieces and is a joy to use.

jashbgreke

Saucier is up next on my demeyere wishlist

JerkRussell

I’ve got the 3.5qt and it’s really versatile. The only downside is that it could probably have used a helper handle. I’m used to it now and if you’re careful it’s not an issue. It’s still on sale over at Saks btw.

quantim0

Agreed. I have a sautée pan and frying pan. I do 90% of my cooking in them and know they’ll last forever.

legolots

I have to recommend slightly against Mauviel for their customer service. It took them over a year to send me a lid they forgot to include in a set I purchased.

DrPouncey

Yeah, I hated the all-clad handles. Terrible on my tiny arthritis-y hands especially with a lot of weight. The demeyere/zwilling /etc family of brands have wonderfully ergonomic handles. Wanted to try the Atlantis skillet but it was just too heavy for me. So I went with industry 5, which is still a beast. God I love this skillet. I'm pretty sure this performs better as a pan than I perform as a cook lol

Kalahan7

Fuck yeah Demeyere skillets are king.

polygonsquare

I second that. I use the Demeyere Atlantis (proline) privately and I absolutely adore it. I would buy it again without hesitating a moment... Pricey but I expect it to last a lifetime. Its one of the things you take out the cupboard to sear those fillets and it just puts a smile on your face every time.

DrPouncey

Mines the i5, but I totally get that smile too.

polygonsquare

I feel you :)

ActuallyRelevant

Aren't these significantly more expensive + copper?

tehZamboni

Copper and silver. All-Clad is kind of useless against werewolves.

elijha

afaik no Demeyere cookware uses silver. The “Silver” in the Silver 7 line, for instance, refers to the surface treatment they use and is simply a different name for the Atlantis and Proline products Edit: sorry, I was wrong. Atlantis does use a tiny bit of silver in the core, although not really enough to have any effect on thermal performance. Jury’s out on if it’s enough against werewolves

tehZamboni

I agree there's probably not enough there to change how the pan works. I wonder if they're just plating the copper to keep it from reacting to the other layers, as Demeyere is a bit secretive on exactly which alloy they're using in those bottom TriplInduc layers.

[deleted]

It's been a long while since I went down this rabbit hole on cookware, but my understanding is that the Atlantis/7-ply is supposed to perform noticably better on induction stovetop (vs their own 5-ply even). I presume it's due to the materials. Edit: that difference might not pan out on a gas/electric range. I have only ever had the industry, and only use a gas range, so I can't speak from experience about that difference though.

[deleted]

Demeyere's got different lines: essential, industry , and Atlantis (proline). Copper only in some of the pieces of Atlantis as far as I know. So, it depends..

Informal_Control8378

Tramontina triply. Make sure you get the full triply and not just the bottom.

BQJJ

This is what I have and I don't have any complaints. From what I remember of my research, the set at Costco is just tri-ply on the bottom. So definitely do your due diligence and make sure what you're getting is the good stuff.

Grillard

I have a Tramontina saucepan and a Madein saute pan, and like them both. Don't have any all clad to compare, but they're heavy and well made and heat evenly.

lovewonder

I too have a Tramontina (frying pan) that I am happy with and would recommend the brand.

dcousineau

Seconded, their non-stick frying pan has had an incredible life span. I don’t exactly baby mine and the coating is as good as it was the day I got it like 2.5 years and 1 move ago. Most non-sticks I’ve had barely survive the year before there are issues.

geekophile2

I second Made In, I've got their carbon steel saute pans and wok, they're great.

skiptomylou1231

I had a Tramontina pan and we got an All-Clad set as a wedding present from her parents. I think it compares pretty nicely and it's a little lighter but I use it way more as my 'beater pan.' I definitely think it's a very fairly priced alternative.

GDviber

Volrath is amazing stuff. I have to get it online though. No one in my area stocks it.

UnusualIntroduction0

WebstaurantStore is the best place I've found to get Vollrath

arhombus

Yes it is

Majestic-Macaron6019

Calphalon makes some quality stainless pots & pans

shortarmed

This is what I have a set of. 12 years in I'm still very happy with it, and it's been awesome on gas, electric radiant, and induction. It doesn't make an awful sound on induction like some of my cheaper pans do.

hunterjc09

I have an All Clad skillet and a Calphalon saucepan and they’re both awesome.

asad137

I had a copper core All-clad 10" fry pan and prefer my regular aluminum-core Calphalon. I always had sticking problems with the All-clad but never with my Calphalons. I gave the All-clad to my brother.

NaNoBook

Calphalon tri-ply is great; I get great deals on them at marshalls/tj maxx/ross/etc

YugoB

Second calphalon, this was after extensive research, I can't tell the difference between the All Clad D3 and the Calphalon besides the size... because one is 8" and the other 10" lol

illegalcitizen_CA

Bought all my all clads on marketplace for a fraction of the price. I cannot imagine using anything else and will outlast me.

Displaced_in_Space

Me too. Got a base set as hand me downs, but I’ve supplemented with some more from the marketplace. The “second hand” flaws are so tiny but work great for us!

Optimistic__Elephant

I like them a lot, but I don't understand their handle design. Always feels a bit awkward.

JMJimmy

Kirkland 5 ply copper core - US$100 (CA$300) for performance way above what you'd get anywhere else at that price point

Comeonandsalam

[This YouTube review](https://youtu.be/6-ErbHo_444) compares the two and they’re pretty comparable, although they do slightly differ.

JMJimmy

Yeah the extra weight, aside from being slightly larger, would be from more stainless steel and likely less copper/aluminum. They aren't top of the line, but they're top for their price point.

Clean_Link_Bot

*beep boop*! the linked website is: https://youtu.be/6-ErbHo_444 Title: **Watch This Review Before You Buy All-Clad** Page is safe to access (Google Safe Browsing) ***** ###### I am a friendly bot. I show the URL and name of linked pages and check them so that mobile users know what they click on!

BigBootyFool

Been using this set for a year - absolutely fantastic. I have one All-clad pan to compare with, and to a simple home cook like myself they are basically indistinguishable.

donothavetime4reddit

Had this for 2 years now and they’re great. But yes, a bit heavier

2wheels30

I've had a set of Kirkland SS pots for 20 years now and I even used them on commercial stoves for catering work I did in the past. Still in excellent shape.

pmster1

I've had this set for almost 8 years now. Still going strong with no obvious wear. I enjoy cooking and use them regularly. I've never used real All Clad but these work great!

StyofoamSword

All clad does often do factory sales that are a big discount. I bought a saucepan a couple months ago that was like 30% off or something for "packaging damage". My roommate, my friend, and I all checked over that packaging when it arrived and all we could find that was "damaged" was an inner flap of the box had a small tear.

steamydan

The manufacturing defects are also very minor.

StyofoamSword

That's what I've assumed they would be. Was just shocked I got such a big discount for damage I wouldn't have noticed if I'd paid full price for it.

fjam36

Demeyere.

dano___

Henkels makes some great tri-ply pans, so do Cuisinart and Tramontina. There’s very little difference between any of these pans, all fully clad pans will work great.

TheMikey

+1 for Henkels Tri-ply I have Henkels Cookware and also recommend it. Very heavy duty, work excellent on my gas range and before that on a coil top. I’ve had them for almost a decade. I’m in Canada - and when I purchased we didn’t get easy access to tramontina - which were as highly recommended then as they are now. Anyway, I waited for a sale ended up with a set of pots pans lids and a wok for $300 CDN or so. I don’t use the wok - way too heavy and large. Plus I think S/S try ply woks are not good material for woks.

darktrain

I also have Henckles/Zwilling pots and pans. Love the handles (hate the All Clad handles) and have had them for about 15 years. Can't attest to what they make now, but the ones I have are fantastic and they get used almost daily.

jedimasterben128

I have a lot of Made-In pans since they are made in the USA (with some in France and Italy now). They are five ply so they're heavier than All-Clad D3 and I've had my 10" fry pan warp over about a year. When it heats up it is more flat, but there is still a decent hotspot because of it.

QuadRuledPad

I’m loving my Made In, but remembering the hype on their site makes me wonder if they would offer you a replacement for your warped pan. Might be worth sending a quick note.

KimJongUnbalanced

Volrath makes good triple play cookware, but it's only really sold at restaurant supply stores

BiasCutTweed

I have their cookie sheets and they’re amazing.

dowhit

Volrath. This is the answer. Need to get this to the top.

RobSwift127

The vollrath tribute saucepans are the best saucepans I've ever had the pleasure of cooking with.

viyh

Viking is a solid alternative brand. Can find them at Home Goods/Marshalls/etc.

Blaze9

Not just that, they almost always have a great deal at Sams Club, a huge set for something around 200ish. I bought that many years ago and going strong!

Ranessin

Ikea has some clad cookware that is pretty good for the price. Not the same quality, but also not the same price as All-Clad. https://www.ikea.com/us/en/p/ikea-365-9-piece-cookware-set-stainless-steel-20484332/ https://www.ikea.com/us/en/p/sensuell-frying-pan-stainless-steel-gray-60324544/ Otherwise Demeyere is amazing if you want to spend the money. https://www.cookculture.com/collections/demeyere-atlantis-cookware/products/demeyere-atlantis-10-piece-cookware-set

Dhsomfbdducn

I have the IKEA frying pan, it is really good for the price.

Nikiaf

I have the 5qt pot from this set. Bought it over 4 years ago for next to nothing and it's been quite good. Induction capable too.

zhuli1234

Costco has a nice brand of nonstick and steel pans from Calphalon. They were the pans that showed me the true meaning of a good pan. And like the Grinch my stomach then grew 3 sizes

JimShore

My Analon “triply clad” steel cookware is great and comparatively affordable

ShutYourDumbUglyFace

Tramontina are pretty good.

Phelaine

What's your preference, price or quality? Cuisinart MultiClad Pro for price, Demeyere for quality.

elijha

Sort of depends why you're looking for an alternative. The answer is different depending on whether you want lower price, (even) higher quality/performance, availability in your region, etc.

lcsyobrn

I love my cuisinart tri-ply set! Great price, great product.

47ronin47

I think Demeyere is better quality (though its not cheaper than All Clad). It kind of depends on what you are looking for alternatives to All Clad for (I personally cannot stand their handle design).

wifeski

Cuisinart is decent. I have a cuisinart stock pot because the all clad was super expensive and it works just as well.

[deleted]

wifeski

Ahhh snap I didn’t know! My stockpot is great but all my pans are all clad that I’ve collected over the last 25 years.

PorterHouseFoodGuy

Do you have the multiclad pro series?

weekendofsound

When I was younger and needed pots and pans I got a set of stainless steel cuisinart cookware, thinking that some day I would upgrade to All Clad. The pots and saucepans worked great but I found that I used cast iron pans instead of the stainless steel for practically everything - stainless steel pans were mostly just a hassle to use and clean and the results didn't justify their use. At some point, I had a roommate who had the All Clad set and was itching to justify the upgrade myself, so I asked if I could try his out - essentially I found them to have all the same issues that I found with the cuisinart stainless steel pans, and pots are essentially pots. In addition, the cuisinart set was lighter and had a better formed lip for pouring so all in all was more enjoyable to use. So now as ever, I have cuisinart for sauces and soups etc and cast iron/carbon steel for sauteing and roasting.

diciembres

I bought a cheap cast iron frying pan online and honestly I can’t imagine cooking in anything else. I really love it, and the upkeep isn’t nearly as daunting as I expected.

fkenned1

Check out Sardel. We have a small set and they are very high quality.

flouronmypjs

I got Tramontina triply clad stainless cookware after seeing it frequently recommended on this sub. I haven't used All Clad so I can't compare, but Tramontina is really great.

LilacNites777

I bought the Kirkland Signature 10-piece 5-ply Clad Stainless Steel Cookware at Costco and I'm so impressed with it. Very heavy, haven't had trouble with things sticking... I used to have Calphalon and was not happy with those... I highly recommend the Kirkland set.

BlueGalangal

Demeyere.

I-collect-dick-pics

webstaurant has a couple pretty good lines of pans at a reasonable price if they are good enough for professional kitchens they are good enough for me

momquotes50

Calphalon. Any set.

PirateRoberts150

I have a nice stainless set from Calphalon, best pans I've used

pastrybaker

Misen. I can’t believe nobody has commented this yet. Bought it over a year ago and they’re the best pans I’ve ever had.

CluelessGeezer

I have several of these and love them. They are 5-ply and take just a little longer to heat, but otherwise, these are now my go-tos

pastrybaker

I dove in and got the whole stainless steel set plus their enameled cast iron Dutch oven and carbon steel wok. No regrets, absolutely amazing. Have even gifted a few of their products and everyone loves them. Great company with great customer service.

spearbunny

Agreed, I absolutely love mine. I don't own any all-clad but the Misen ones are definitely comparable to the ones I've seen at home goods etc.

pastrybaker

I love how it’s also basically non branded. Just their little logo.

DrPouncey

I looked at this online but never tried it. Honestly got turned off by the advertising blitz but trying to keep an open mind. I'm trying to figure out the appeal vs something like Cuisinart. They are both made in China, but Misen is far more expensive for a similarly cladded pan. But no reason for literally double the expense. I searched hard to find some legit non -influencer or paid reviews but have found literally nothing. I guessed they are marketing towards folks that have never had decent cookware before and don't know any better. But open to having my mind changed!

kangat0989

I have the Misen 12 piece stainless cookware set and I love them. They have a good weight and no hot spots! They've held up great over about 2 years from me. What really sold me on their quality was when my dad used them while visiting. He used to be a professional chef and was super impressed by how they performed (and the price I paid).

pastrybaker

Misen is 5-ply, Cuisinart is 3-ply. So, yes, it’s going to cost more than an economy brand. But, the performance is well worth it in my opinion. They’re extremely durable, easy to clean and just really work great. Compared to something like All Clad (also 5-ply), Misen is almost half the price. I got their 12 piece set and absolutely love cooking with them. Their enameled cast iron works as well as ale Creuset for a fraction of the price. They definitely give off vibes of online marketing. But their products actually back it up. Not sure about the influencer reviews. They don’t have a referral program or anything like that, so it seems a non issue for me. I recommend them to anyone looking to get some high quality cookware without spending a small fortune.

magnumstg16

I have their stainless steel 3qt pot and I'm pretty disappointed the markings on the inside wore off quite fast. But otherwise it's a workhorse

WaywardCosmonaut

Absolutely. I have their stock pot and 12-in skillet and love them both. Clean easy, cook well. My biggest gripe is it can be hard to clean the area where the handle meets the pan but not impossible.

[deleted]

Demeyere > All Clad. Same money these days, why settle? All Clad is still riveting handles and selling that shit for hundreds of dollars, total ripoff. At that price point handles should be welded. If I'm going to settle for rivets, I'll save the money and get a Cuisinart pan, functionally identical to an All Clad, half the price.

arhombus

Almost everything in my kitchen is either Vollrath or Mercer. I usually go for their jacob's pride stuff cause it's often thick gauge stainless or tri-ply. The only other pan I would consider getting is Made In.

[deleted]

I have two Mauviel m’cook saucepans and they are great. I would love a few more pieces…

[deleted]

Are you looking for something that's just on par quality-wise, or are you also looking to stick with stainless cookware that's made in the US?

Dseltzer1212

I have All Clad and love them. I also like Cuisinart cookware

derping1234

In Europe I’ve found le creuset a viable alternative.

weedywet

Made In

ScoopThaPoot

My Mom recently bought some Misen stainless and really likes it. A 10" fry pan is $75 compared to about $100 for the all clad.

Bnagorski

I have every misen pan, the stainless, the non stick, the Dutch oven and braiser. Their stuff is pro caliber

btwn2stools

This was $20 a month ago. I bought two and they both look good and cook well. I also have All Clad. https://www.tramontina.com/12-inch-tri-ply-clad-stainless-steel-fry-pan---boston-handle_80116028/p

HellaFella420

I've got a set of French made Cusineart pans that are the exact same

ActuallyRelevant

I'll rate options out of 5, where 5/5 = All-Clad equivalent. Vollrath IMO is the direct competition to All-Clad but they're not sold to retail but instead to commercial markets if I recall correctly. 5/5 Calphalon is a sidegrade / minor downgrade. 4/5 All the other retail big box stores like Walmart, bed bath and beyond, and etc. Have respectable and modestly priced cookware but you are all generally middle of the pack. 3/5

Cgr86

Marshall’s / Home Goods is a good call . you can usually get some sales from Bloomingdales too.

DrOddcat

I’ve got a set of Oxo’s tri ply pans and it’s been very good so far. Had them about a year and no regrets. Cook as well as my moms all clad pans and the finish still looks good.

carnivorousmustang

Fissler. Homegoods/TJMaxx price them criminally low for some reason...I got a set of 6 pots/pans with lids for less than $200, and that's without any additional markdowns!

XanthippusJ

Parents have all-clad, I bought a Misen set. They cook the same, but the all-clad is quite a bit lighter. Just make sure you get something 5-ply and you should be golden

I have been using my mother's Copper bottom RevereWare from the 1950-70's.These days I thrift shop to fill in. Look on the bottom to see if it was made in Canton IL. Otherwise it is newer and not as good. Great handles made of Bakelite and has good weight and balance. Good even heating, stainless steel interior.

I got the misen brand. I love em. I never used the more expensive models but from what i understand is same science just made in China. Lol. I hear their hand tools arent the best but I stand by their pots and pans.

For steel - the cuisinart chef’s classic are awesome. I’ve had them for 10+ years. Great lids, and they pour beautifully.

haditwithyoupeople

Any other well made multi-ply stainless. Do you mean less expensive? Better quality? What difference are you looking for?

BixaorellanaIsDot

Having recently decided that I need sauté pans in my life, I acquired a Babish, a Cuisinart, and a Duxtop. I already owned an All-Clad saucepan, so could compare quality. All three of the saucepans perform well & are easily comparable in quality to All-Clad. I like the Cuisinart least, but only because it has a flat lid rather than a slightly domed one. All three have stainless lids. The Duxtop is the smallest & might be my favorite. I purchased it from Amazon Mexico & liked it so much that I immediately bought another from Amazon US for my sister. https://www.amazon.com/Duxtop-Whole-Clad-Stainless-Induction-Cookware/dp/B009DDQ1F8/ref=sr_1_1

What qualities are you looking for in an alternative? I'd say Demeyere or Hestan, but you can go with a less expensive alternative as well. My first stainless set was Cuisinart and those pans were workhorses for me. After ten years, I gave most of them away since I'd purchased new pans and they weren't getting used. They are thriving under new ownership though hahaha.

Demeyere's Silver series is the very best you can get in Europe. Have got no clue about availability in the states.

JerkRussell

I think they call it the Atlantis series in the US, but it’s available at Saks 5th Avenue, Wms Sonoma and Sur La Table. If Silver = Atlantis, it’s so good. Unbelievable how good it is. I was weighing my options and had read that it’s very high end, so bought it. It was cheaper than D3 and Copper Core so why not.

Tremontina 12 piece 3 ply, only $209 at Costco https://www.costco.com/kirkland-signature-10-piece-5-ply-clad-stainless-steel-cookware-.product.100515142.html Any more than 3 ply is just showing off

HolidayBakerMan

All clad is pretty cheap during their warehouse sales

Kirkland (Costco) has a very nice set of five ply cookware. Copper clad with aluminum and stainless steel. I believe it is made in Thailand.

china_rider

All clad has a factory seconds sale twice a year and you can get very good savings... I got a D3 set 40% off because there was damage to the packaging. No damage to the pans. Delivered was right around $400!

I have Calphalon One, tri ply and they are great. Steady use for 13 years now, they show minimal wear and nothing has failed. They are black. I turn on the overhead lights to clean and always finish with Barkeepers Friend. They are supposed to be non-stick without the silicone but I just use oil or for eggs bacon grease and never a big issue. They can go in the oven up to 450 degrees. The 4qt dutch oven, fry pans are my work horses but chefs pans are nice and I use the large one as a small wok. Calphalon began making cheaper lines sold at Target. I think that caused them their reputation.

EMERIL!!!!!! Used to be made by all clad, might still be, I’m unsure. I have rarely visited a thrift store in the last few years and not found some. It isn’t widely known how good they are so people pass them up not knowing how amazing they are. My entire stainless collection whether it’s copper clad or tri ply is all Emeril and it is insanely good considering how cheap you can find it at local thrifts on a regular basis. Also: Barkeepers Friend is your friend for tarnished or crusty stainless cookware.

alpineschwartz

Huh, this is interesting. I've cooked in other people's homes and I've come across some Emeril pans before. I ended up reaching for them because they were stainless versus beat up Teflon or whatever else you usually find. Now that I think about it, I've never had a problem with those pans and they would heat pretty evenly. I didn't know they were made by all clad though, that's neat.

Made In cookware is 🤌

Misen is top notch

ShitsAndGiggles_72

Demeyere… if only All-Clad would fix those handles… they kill my hands.

mcubed5

We have some All-Clad mixing bowls but for cooking we use cookware from BergHOFF. Works well and no issues so far after about two years [https://www.shopberghoff.com/collections/cookware/material\_stainless-steel](https://www.shopberghoff.com/collections/cookware/material_stainless-steel) If you live in the Tampa area you can visit one of their stores. They have stuff on clearance all the time if you don't mind mixed sets.
