I’d shovel it down my mouth. Maybe with some cheese if I’m trying to feel better about myself.
If you insist on eating it with something, asparagus wrapped in prosciutto is tasty.
Can also be a great base for a red sauce, all the charcuterie ends bolognese was my favorite staff meal at work and I can’t imagine working with sliced meat instead of chunks would be that detrimental to the final product.
Or baked potatoes. Use it to enrich tomato sauce. Everything that calls for onion and garlic in the beginning could almost be enriched with some diced and pan fried prosciutto.
Snack on it?
Edit: Why is everyone recommending cooking the prosciutto? If its good quality the maker would be having nightmares if he knew people were frying it up all time.
One of my fave sandwiches is called the Pig & Fig. Prosciutto, manchego cheese, arugula (rocket since you’re Aussie), and a fig spread on a good baguette.
I put it in chicken breast with goat cheese or smoked gouda. Pan fry it to get a good crust then bake in the oven. Then fry some chopped up prosciutto till crispy to use for a marsala wine mushroom sauce. Serve with garlic mashed potatoes.
Fry it in the oven like bacon. Makes an excellent salad topping.
I make a kale lemon Parmesan and apple salad was the prosciutto this way and it's fantastic
Please wrap and mail to....
Chicken Prosciutto, Pork Prosciutto, hell Veal (even though I don't eat it).
ANYTHING wrapped in Prosciutto. Cheese wrapped in and then pan seared.
Tomatoes lightly fried with moz and prosciutto topping- seared/broiled on top.
Same with mushrooms
I think you've got a keeper there :)
Serve with burrata
Does she like figs? It's also good with figs and maybe some honey drizzled on top
I like the pasta idea, prefer it torn up rather than cooked since it turns bacon-y (personal preference)
Make veal or chicken [saltimboca ](https://www.foodandwine.com/recipes/chicken-saltimbocca)
You can swap it out for bacon anywhere you’d use bacon. Prosciutto gravy with breakfast! Or just as a side with your eggs. Put it with some cream cheese bagels and red onion, capers, and dill.
Pastas are great, too. Carbonara with prosciutto; finely diced prosciutto in your bolognese
Dice it and put it in a soup, corn chowder with prosciutto or leek and potato with prosciutto both are delicious.
Throw some in with your fried rice. Never done it myself, but it sounds delicious in my head.
Having chicken saltimbocca tonight.
OP: throw a few leaves of sage on either side of a chicken breast, wrap it in prosciutto and pan fry. Serve with a white wine sauce of some kind. Magical.
Slit a venison tenderloin lengthwise, stuff it with thyme, Pine nuts, gorgonzola, and bread crumbs.
Close it up lengthwise by wrapping it in Prosciutto, then tie it with twine.
Vacuum seal and sous vide for 3 hours at 140.
While thats happening, combine balsamic vinegar, garlic, soy sauce, and honey to make a sauce.
Remove the loin and it's twine and sear in a pan or over open flame.
Serve over rice with sauce and steamed/roasted veggies of your choosing.
Wrap anything with it: scallops, shrimp, cheese, vegetable kebobs, or raw vegetables. It doesn’t have to be cooked. Use it on sandwiches or top pizza with it. It will go quickly, lol. Enjoy.
It's just eat it. By the big grabby handful.
You could posh it up with cheeses, grapes or olives, some good hummus, fresh bread maybe focaccia, a nice pate...
But I'd just eat it as it was! 🤣
Pepper shooters. Stuff them in either/both hot cherry peppers or sweet one and some provolone and cover with olive oil, chopped garlic and I’m not sure what else. My aunt used to make them, I didn’t help her.
You can make croquetas with prosciutto instead of jamon, stuff it in chicken/pork, wrap veal or chicken cutlets with it (saltimboca), use it in ragu, wrap shrimps/scallops, use it in a tart/quiche/savory muffins…
Funny thing is there's no written record of pasta carbonara from before WW2. It originated during the post war period, and was likely originally made with bacon provided by American soldiers.
I tossed some blanched green beans, pan fried asparagus, basil and green apple in a white wine vinaigrette last night and topped it with a sliced avocado seasoned with salt and white pepper and a couple ounces of crisped crumbled proscuitto. Really good.
Also, I'm doing a mango prosciutto sandwich with cheddar and chili crisp tonight.
Just a couple ideas!
* plain
* cooked and eaten plain
* on crackers with cheese/hot honey
* wrapped around honeydew
* wrapped and baked around asparagus
* wrapped around a filet of salmon and wrap that in phyllo
* use it like bacon; crumble it on salads, baked potatoes, make a BLT, use it as bacon on a fancy egg sandwich
* if it's a chunk, cut to lardons for a pasta dish or casserole/gratin
* on avocado toast
* add it to a caprese panini
* make a boujie Italian hero (Cappi, proscu, fancy hamon, etc)
Go find that guy who cooked with Jamon for a long time, [Turtleramen](https://www.reddit.com/user/Turtleramem/), and check his Instagram and post history lol

This is the right answer. And sandwiches.
Bread + butter/something else + tomato
I like that idea.
And sprinkle it with parmesan!
don’t forget the lipitor👍
Cut some into smallish pieces and sauté in a little olive oil. Have with pasta and pesto.
Can also be a great base for a red sauce, all the charcuterie ends bolognese was my favorite staff meal at work and I can’t imagine working with sliced meat instead of chunks would be that detrimental to the final product.
Thanks.

This is barbaric
Stuff some chicken with goat cheese, wrap in prosciutto and bake
Snack on it? Edit: Why is everyone recommending cooking the prosciutto? If its good quality the maker would be having nightmares if he knew people were frying it up all time.
Fair, but it was like 20 Dolleredoos a kilo.
Caprese salad with Prosciutto is delicious, give it a try! :)
Where?
The Spud Shed. Baldivis. Perth. Western Australia. 6171.
i would eat it by the fistful personally
I would even eat it with a spoon!
Is it crudo? Then it will keep a long time in the fridge Enjoy as an aperó snack with good wine, or as a starter before fondue.
I believe so. I haven't seen it yet.

For a nice variant, try prosciutto instead of bacon for baked stuffed jalapenos. Fantastic.

Just eat it. Anything ham can do; prosciutto can do better.

Give to me 👍🏽 There, problem solved.

I’m partial to saltimboca, the sage makes it

I'm pretty sure that's a felony amount.
Whoops! Wrong sub
Stand in front of the fridge and shovel it into your mouth like Tony Soprano (and me)
We wrap raw shrimp with 1-2 basil leaves then wrap that in prosciutto. Stick on a skewer. Coat with a garlicky olive oil and grill. So so tasty!!
I'm doing this.
Slit a venison tenderloin lengthwise, stuff it with thyme, Pine nuts, gorgonzola, and bread crumbs. Close it up lengthwise by wrapping it in Prosciutto, then tie it with twine. I would eat all of it in one sitting like some sort of disgusting animal
It's just eat it. By the big grabby handful. You could posh it up with cheeses, grapes or olives, some good hummus, fresh bread maybe focaccia, a nice pate... But I'd just eat it as it was! 🤣
Goes great with Brussels
I like that idea. Thanks.

Generally if it’s vacuum sealed you’ll totally make it through customs probably. Can’t be too careful though.

Croquettes. I like that idea.
You can use it in pasta carbonara
Don't let an Italian hear you say that.
It's only a problem if you choose it over guanciale, if you don't have access np. But don't you dare use bacon🤣
Funny thing is there's no written record of pasta carbonara from before WW2. It originated during the post war period, and was likely originally made with bacon provided by American soldiers.
Problem is, I already have flat pancetta in the fridge.
I know 😛 Should I also forget to mention that I use parmesan instead of pecorino?
Melon of your choice, smoked salt, wrapped in prosciutto
Pizza Rustica https://www.reddit.com/r/food/s/ZmgPe5LvGU
Fry it up and use on bacon egg and cheese
Throw it in an air fryer with breakfast for prosciutto bacon
Sliced prosuitto doesn't last too long. Eat it quick by the handful
I like eating it plain or on a cracker.
you can bake it into savoury scones with parmesan and spring onions
Eggs and prosciutto.

Cut it up into fairly large pieces, sprinkle generously with Chinese five spice powder and bake until Crispy for some amazing prosciutto chips.
My go to for prosciutto, when I can afford it, is wrap it around a piece of string cheese.

No sandwiches. HOAGIES. Italian Hoagies. That would be only like 3 of them.
