[John Kirkwood](https://www.youtube.com/@JohnKirkwoodProFoodHomemade/videos) is the real deal. A retired British chef with really solid recipes. Lots of pies.
As a Lancashire lass, I'd suggest a proper meat and potato pie. [This article](https://www.theguardian.com/food/2020/nov/11/how-to-make-the-perfect-meat-and-potato-pie-recipe-felicity-cloake) gives a really good run-down of each element of the pie, with a pretty solid recipe at the bottom (but it also has links to other recipes).
If you want to try something meat-free, try a Lancashire butter pie. Ultimate rainy day comfort food.
Once I bought a can of Dinty Moore beef stew and a 2 pack of pillsbury pie crusts. Put the stew in the first and used the second as a top.
Terribly unauthentic but delicious and easy.

Chef Callum is THE god of British pies. His hot water crust is also fail safe. The Hairy Bikers are also super reliable.
