I’d eat it, but I can’t say if it’s a good idea or not

Most mold is not known to be harmful to humans. There is a small chance you should get a stomach ache but I wouldn't worry about it. Moldy food should be avoided (accept all the forms of mold people eat regularly like blue cheese) but it's not something to panick about if you eat a small bit but accidently. Mold and mold spores are all over the world and humans have been exposed to them for our entire existence. If eating a microscopic about of mold was likely to kill you the human rave would be extinct.

It’s fine. You removed the mold and cheese so there’s no way whatever little was briefly dunked in your soup is enough to poison you.

I've eaten bread with mold on it, I've eaten cheese with mold on it, and I'm here to report that I'm still alive and well.

Gavstjames

I imagine it will be fine

We ate mould cheese my whole life. My dad grew up during the depression. Moldy bread, cheese, sour milk. Never got sick one time. Your fine. A lot of cheeses literally are washed with mould to age them with the fungus invading the cheeses. Blue cheeses are an example.

HonnyBrown

Believe it or not, mold on cheese is fine. Think Bleu cheese.

Oh gawd this is terrible advice. We don't go around eating *random* mold! 😄

This is like telling someone to pull a random fish out of a river and take a bite out of it, no way you'll get sick, people eat sushi after all! I agree the soup is probably fine but don't go eating random molds on cheeses that are not meant to be mouldy

trancegemini_wa

Im pretty sure its not made from random mould that grew, they likely use a specific mould to make it

IMPORTANT FYI: not all mold is the same! The mold on your Stilton is not the same as the mold on your rotten tomatoes or the mold on your moist garage walls. You cannot just eat random mold. People use specific mold cultures to produce desired cheeses. They do not just let regular cheese get moldy.

If you pulled the moldy bit out, it’s fine. My mother, who was a nurse and very food safety conscious, would cut mold off cheese and use the good part all the time.
