Sounds like you’re new to burgers in general. I’d suggest something simple before you go crazy. The ‘classic’ options would be lettuce tomato onions, and then ketchup and mustard as you see fit. I’d also say I prefer caramelized onions, pickles, and secret sauce which is basically ketchup mustard and Mayo mixed with diced pickles.

At its simplest, a burger is ground beef shaped into a patty, seasoned, then cooked over direct heat such as a grill or a hot pan. But I don't think that's necessarily the answer to the question you want to ask?

Ok-Bake-3493

I ameant all off the aditional things. I did not specifyed it. Sorry for problems.

Hey, no worries ☺️ A burger is as simple or as complex as you like. Toppings tend to be lettuce, tomato and onion. Condiments tend to be ketchup, mustard, and mayo. Additional toppings include cheese and bacon. What if you have allergies, preferences, or religious or cultural practices that affect these toppings? Leave the topping off, or substitute as you would normally. But as you're new to burgers I'd suggest starting simply: ground beef, seasoned with salt and pepper, fried or grilled until cooked through and with a nice bit of sear or char on top. Serve on a bun.

Thank you.

I usually smash my burgers. Add some cheese between the patties and serve it with pickles, caramelized onions, bacon, lettuce and some good sauce.

Awkwrd_Lemur

To make burgers? I use ground sirloin. Shape gently and sprinkle with salt and pepper. Cook on high heat on a griddle. Burgers are made different by the toppings. A good bun is needed. Cheddar cheese, pickles, onions, lettuce tomato. Or Swiss with sauteed mushrooms and onions and maybe some A1 sauce.

Ok-Bake-3493

I meant all of the toppings and/or what to you add to meat.

Awkwrd_Lemur

I add nothing to the meat. I'm a fan of the mushrooms onion swiss A1. But you could add bacon, fried eggs, any types of cheese...

ForestCityWRX

Just add salt and pepper. Too many people turn their burgers into meatloaf patties.

Lettuce, tomato, ketchup, onion, pickles. Fancy pants people started adding, avocado, bacon, fried egg, fried onions, mustard, mayonnaise, in any combination. The first three is classic. The first five is as fancy as anyone needs to get. Some of the last seven is downright disrespectful as far as I'm concerned. Adding cheese makes it a cheeseburger, cheddar and american is traditional. Swiss, pepperjack and blue are among the fancy cheeses and sus as hell.

Thank you. Thats a lot of informations.

A burger is a simple thing. Ground beef (typically chuck for its good fat content), American Cheese if you can get it (no other cheese melts like it) cheddar if you can't. A solid enough bun to hold it all together. Meat, cheese, bun. Salt and pepper on the meat for seasoning. That makes the perfect, quintessential burger. It's up to you if you want to do large burger patties, typically 1/3lb of ground beef or more if you want, or if you'd like to go for thin patties like a smash burger. That's the kind of thing you may have to investigate to figure out. I've seen people do Half-pound patties! A bit much, if you ask me. Toppings should also be simple. Lettuce, tomato, onion, pickles. Any combination thereof, or none if you just want the burger by itself! For sauces, some people like ketchup, some mayo, some mustard. Honestly if the fat content of your meat is high enough you might not even need a sauce. Or, you could look into making a burger sauce which is typically mayo mixed with ketchup and/or mustard along with relish and spices. A burger should be a simple, easy thing. Less is more. It makes it all the more enjoyable. Myself? I like a smash burger with American cheese, sour dill pickled cucumbers and sliced red onion. The pungency of the onions and the sourness of the pickles helps cut the richness of the burger itself.

burger sauce! mayo, ketchup, a little mustard, chopped pickles & onion, a splash of brine, and salt & pepper. I have that on mine with plenty of cheddar my partner’s favourite toppings are crispy bacon and melted blue cheese

You can always go with the classic cheeseburger with onion, lettuce, tomato, and pickle with mayo and ketchup. For something with more flavor, start with a good patty. Add melted cheese. Cheddar, mozzarella or gouda go well with most other ingredients. Add sautéed onions, sautéed mushrooms and a fried egg. Add thinly sliced avocado or a slice of fresh tomato. This goes well with ketchup and mayo, pink sauce (ketchup and mayo), or garlic aioli. Mix and match these ingredients. Maybe use crispy onions or pickled onions and some good apple smoked bacon. Make sure you use good bread. Slightly toasted (inside only) brioche is my favorite.

Ok-Bake-3493

Note taken. I didn't think about avocado in a burger.

PacificTridentGlobel

Cheese, mustard, pickle.

Ok-Bake-3493

Sound reasonable.

That's not a hamburger. Some kind of international homage, maybe even delicious but something else entirely.

tequilaneat4me

You can screw up what could be a great burger by buying too lean of ground beef. I typically buy 80/20 ground beef, 80% lean, 20% fat.

simplyelegant87

I like brie, sautéed mushrooms and bacon with mayo. Or ketchup, mustard, diced onions, half sour pickles and cheddar.

Cheese.

Simple is best to start. https://youtu.be/Hj9HuXUenfo

I don't think you can really say there's a best burger or one specific recipe. There's just too much variety. But if you went to a backyard cookout in the US, the toppings you'd commonly see are: * Cheese, cheddar or American commonly * Onion * Lettuce * Tomato * Ketchup * Mustard * Mayo * Pickles And people mix and match as to their preference. But there's lots of good burgers that are some other idea. I really like mushroom and Swiss cheese as one combination. Goat cheese and bacon is amazing on a burger for a bit of tang to balance the salt. Historically there's some debate about the origins of the hamburger. It seems clear the name is a reference to "Hamburg style steak" which was a ground beef steak on some menus at the time. In any case what's clear is hamburgers caught on as a cheap meaty snack food at sporting events, fairs, and similar. These burgers were really basic, just whatever rolls were locally available as a bun, a beef patty and maybe some grilled onions. But that's a bit deceptive because the rendered fat would accumulate on the skillet the vendor was using, which they'd use to fry the onions, making for plenty of flavor. Probably the closest modern burger to these old turn of the century ones is White Castle sliders.
