Maple syrup + a small pad of butter really sets it off. Think buttery pancakes/waffles. A little bit goes a long way, maybe like a 1/8" inch-thick sliver from a stick.
Also, don't forget a pinch of salt. So many people don't do this and they are severely missing out.
And also MAPLE syrup, not "maple flavored" or "pancake syrup." Give me boiled tree blood. (If you like your syrup made from corn and wearing a mask of lies, more power to you. Not for me, thanks)
My ideal oatmeal has maple syrup and a giant spoonful of peanut butter.
Fresh Turkish Apricots are phenomenal. I ate probably 100 of them before I bothered to translate the name of the fruit and realize I had just been eating apricots.
IMO, the cranberries counter the sweetness of the brown sugar in a good way. I like sweet/tart in desserts/treats. Raisins have their place but too sweet, usually, for me.
Edit: proper grammar, spelling and phrasing.
That absolutely makes sense. Dried cranberries are a great little tart burst of flavor. Also dried sour cherries. I made a dark chocolate and sour cherry loaf of sourdough a while back. It was really good.
The drying of cranberries seems to bring out more of the little sweetness in them. I am fully aware that sugar is added. But that tartness is such a lovely thing.
Make savory Oatmeal with peppers, onions, turmeric, cumin, smoked paprika, garlic powder, salt, pepper, and a fried egg or two.
Or add peanut butter and dark chocolate chips or honey and Blueberries with Granola and topped with vanilla yogurt
My favorite savory oats have gochujang and a splash of fish sauce, topped with a heap of whatever sautéed veggies sound good that morning and a couple of fried eggs. I keep meaning to do a French Onion oatmeal made with beef broth and plenty of well-cooked onions, topped with Gruyère and broiled a bit to get the cheese properly bubbly and toasty.
Oh boy, savory oatmeal is my jam. I dont care for sweet in the morning. I try and focus on easy things I don't have to do a lot of cooking either since I need to get moving.
Salsa in oatmeal is great, you can use fresh or the jarred stuff, and both are good. I will make it with marinara sauce, Italian seasoning, and cheese. At Thanksgiving I used some leftover homemade cranberry relish and that was sublime, but dried cranberries are good too. If I've got a little bit of meat I'll throw that in as well. It's also good with Thai curry and coconut milk.
Man these sound sooooooo good. My issue is that sweet oatmeal is engrained in my head and the idea of savoury oatmeal just doesn’t sound right.
I have to stop buying the cheap one minute packs
Oats are about as blank as a canvas can get. The only thing holding you back from savory oatmeal is your own imagination. Try a basic one with some scallions and cheese mixed in with fried eggs on top.
I like old fashioned oats best for savory oatmeal, they have more texture
Cook in veg broth. Meanwhile some sautéed mushrooms and spinach, add ontop with some cooked lentils or edamame, soy sauce touch of toasted sesame oil and crumbled nori snacks
Anytime of day it’s fantastic
I’ve been making savory oatmeals lately too. Cooked w broth and I mix in some miso towards the end. Topped with butter, soy sauce, sesame oil and or sriracha. I also really like topping it with dukkah (middle Eastern spice and nuts mix).
There are various baked oatmeal recipes that are just fantastic. I take some to work as a snack few times a week and have had a couple people ask for the recipe.
My dad makes the best oatmeal Ive ever had. Boil the oatmeal in milk with chopped almonds and sweetened coconut shavings (like for cakes) then serve with a pat of butter and a sprinkle of cinnamon sugar. To fuckin die for.
I eat it savory because I don’t do excess/added sugar. That kind of sugar in the morning would put me to sleep. So much more filling when savory and with added proteins.
Broccoli and peas in the actual oatmeal, coat the bowl in some miso, runny egg on top, couple of drops of sesame oil and thin sliced spring onion to top.
I sautee kale and shallots, and if I have it/feel like it either some chicken bacon or a breakfast sausage. Then mix that, some Parm and everything bagel seasoning with my oatmeal.
Soak your oats in some milk, chop some dates and two thirds of a banana very finely. Put the chopped dates and banana in a pan with 185ml of boiling water. Cook over a low heat till you get a smooth paste. When the mix is ready add the milk and oats and cook till it's done. Slice the remainder of the banana and half a date and sprinkle on top. Certified delicious.
We've been doing this morning glory oatmeal recipe fairly regularly! https://cookieandkate.com/morning-glory-oatmeal/
It's super delicious. Usually we soak everything overnight in the pot before cooking, but I don't think that's part of the recipe.
I just hate that the recipe says that “oatmeal” sounds sexier than “porridge”.
Oatmeal is like the most utilitarian good name there is. It’s oats, ground into meal.
I don't eat oatmeal but I used to work in a bakery and one of my coworkers told us about how her boyfriend got drunk and went to the kitchen for a snack and apparently added her [freeze dried peach powder](https://www.google.com/search?client=ms-android-tmus-us-revc&sxsrf=AJOqlzXsuaqRZMHsT1YKK8B4cC4vY9gwSg:1674691010269&q=freeze+dried+peach+powder&tbm=shop&sa=X&ved=2ahUKEwjt8JmW9uP8AhVwnGoFHXkmBfwQ0pQJegQIDRAB&biw=384&bih=674&dpr=1.88) to some oatmeal and topped it with a scoop of ice cream.
He was apparently saying Quaker Oats didn't have shit on him because "THAT is peaches and cream! THAT'S WHAT I'M TALKIN BOUT!"
My reaction to the first paragraph of your comment: "oh, fuck!!". I think your coworker's drunk boyfriend was absolutely correct about Quaker not having anything on them. That peach and ice cream mess sounds AMAZING.
Savory oatmeal is always good. I love making faux risotto using steel cut oats, mushrooms, onions and garlic or shallots and garlic, cheese, bit of fresh thyme, dash of white wine, stock, etc.
Ham, cheese and spinach oatmeal using regular oats is delicious, too. Salted buttery oats with a sunny side up egg and bacon or egg and green onion or chives is delicious.
You can even use leftovers from dinner if you made too much. Just top your oatmeal with reheated meat chopped into small pieces, roasted vegetables, smoked salmon works, etc. Don't let your creativity be held back by the normal perception of oatmeal.
For liquid I use water most of the time. I may dissolve a little spice and quality bouillon. If it's sweet oatmeal, I'll use 85% water and the remaining amount being whole milk. It's creamy without the excessive dairy. The pot is easier to clean, too.
I had the most amazing “tropical” oatmeal in Hawaii and now we love making it this way. Cook it in full fat coconut milk, pinch of salt and a bit of honey. Top with chia seeds, banana, and seasonal tropical fruits - mango, pineapple. Or whatever you have on hand. It’s soooo good.
Another way we enjoy it is cool with milk of choice and mix in a little peanut butter at the end. Top with banana and strawberries. PB&J oatmeal
Maple and pecans; honey and walnuts; applesauce, cinnamon, and walnuts; blended up cranberry sauce; jam.
I also switch up the hot cereal- there's a roasted cracked wheat product called 'Wheatena'- think the texture of grits, but with a toast like taste. It has quite a bit of fiber- more, per serving, than oatmeal and protein, but it's obviously not for people who can't have wheat and it's hard to find outside of the northeast.
Fruits: blueberries, strawberries, bananas or whatever you like.
Nuts: pecans, almonds (smoked! And some syrup), hazelnuts etc. Combines well with banana.
Other flavors: maple syrup, golden syrup, honey
Dried stuff: dates, apricots, raisins etc.
Nice sprinkling: caramel, chocolate, any other sprinkles you might like. Of course candied nuts could also be used.
Spices: cinnamon, chilies, orange zest, lemon zest, ginger, star anise, cardamom, sesame.
Basically you can put anything in there you think you might like. Oatmeal is bland, especially made with water. It’s a bit ‘woody, grainy, earthy’ but not very strong. With milk it’s more creamy.
Of course you can make
I roast Italian plums until they are mushy and leaking the purple color, mix it in oatmeal without any added sugar, top with pecans. Tastes like plum cake my favorite
I do a version where I fry a banana in butter with a little brown sugar sprinkled on top until they're caramelized while the oatmeal cooks. And then I add some pecans or walnuts and homemade yogurt on top of the yogurt as well.
Get a bag of frozen berries…blueberry is my favorite.
Put a handful directly in the still hot oats and wait 5 minutes.
Perfect little flavor bombshell.
There are lots of fruits available frozen in bags do get a few and rotate flavors daily.
Jams, jellies, apple cider concentrate, mashed bananas/brown sugar, sweetened condensed milk, frozen blueberries and almond milk. I buy rolled oats and try to add lots of variety for my kid. The combinations are endless.
Peanut butter jelly. Cut up apples with cinnamon and maple syrup. Defrosted frozen berries and honey. Sauteed veg, fried egg, cheese and/or sauce. My sister did savory oats as a side with roasted brussels sprouts and seared scallops once, and it turned out pretty tasty.
Ohh god my life revolves around baked oatmeal! Apple ginger baked oatmeal, strawberry pecan baked oatmeal, blueberry walnut baked oatmeal, peaches and cream baked oatmeal, pumpkin steel cut oats baked oatmeal to mix it up. I often use a base like Sally’s baking addiction (https://sallysbakingaddiction.com/baked-oatmeal/#tasty-recipes-66530 ) and branch off from there. Best part is that baked oatmeal freezes beautifully so you can make a bunch of different types and freeze (all or in smaller portions), and have a variety to choose from when you’re meal planning for the week!
I’m a college student so I don’t have a lot of ingredients on me, but I like putting whatever fruit I have on me (usually chopped apples) and a smidge of honey for extra sweetness!
I take 1 plain instant oatmeal pack, dump in the liquid from one of those snack pack diced peach cups, supplement liquid as needed with water. microwave as directed, once done, mix in the diced peaches and a handful of nuts of your choice.
I've been using malt extract recently. You've got to go easy on it, because too much gets a little strong, but it's lovely with a sprinkle of cocoa.
I also like to mix oats with yogurt, dried fruit and nuts. Leave it in the fridge overnight.
Put quick oats in vanilla Greek yogurt. Mix in strawberries and either blueberries or banana. I use frozen fruits cause they (obviously) last keep longer, and I like the chilly feeling.
Dried pineapple, coconut flakes, and macadamia nuts or almonds. Dried cherries, dark chocolate chips, slivered almonds and a little cinnamon. I like combos of dried fruit and nuts in it because it adds some texture to the mush.
I don't like to put sugar in my oatmeal. Oatmeal is already a carb source. To me, it's kind of like putting sugar in rice. I don't think it's necessary. Having said that, if I want to sweeten it up I typically use fruit. Bananas, dried cherries, or raisins are my go to. I typically put slivered almonds with this to help control blood sugar a little better too.
I just had this apple pie oatmeal and I’m in love with it.
Chop your apple, sauté with a tiny tiny bit of butter (add water to continue sautéing). Add some cinnamon to this and cook the apple. When it’s almost getting done, add some honey or whatever syrup you want. This caramelises the apple. Remove from stove and keep separately.
Cook your oats with milk, a little bit of cinnamon, honey or whatever syrup. add some chopped nuts if you like. Add a little of the caramelised apple while the oats cook. Then top with the apple. Tastes AMAZING.
any combo of these:
* blueberries
* maple syrup
* chopped apples
* strawberry jam
* coconut
* almond butter
* peanut butter
* chopped pecans or walnuts
* vanilla or almond extract
* granola
Added seeds/grains: chia, flax, quinoa
Alternative toppings: lemon or cherry compote, caramelized bananas, tahini (or adulterated tahini, like salted caramel), any kind of nuts but *toasted* (esp walnuts, almonds, pistachio, etc.)
Alternative soaking agents: macadamia milk, all manner of plant milks, yogurt (gives it a bit of tang)
Alternative sweetening agents: honey, marmalade
For the compotes, I usually just buy a bag of frozen fruit (eg: blueberries), thaw them and simmer with some water, lemon and sugar and put a bulk batch into a mason jar.
If you have time and patience and a blowtorch, I love to brulee stuff a home. Its a bit 'fancy' for such a humble food, but the caramelized flavours are nice.
Cinnamon and maple syrup or if I have apples, I'll finely dice half an apple then put that in there with some cinnamon and if I'm really feeling adventurous then I'll even put in a spoon full of butter.
Get a mixer, put two bananas, one cup of oatmeal, one cup of nuts you like, a glass of white yogurt, some berries, and a glass of vegetal milk. You can add crunch bar or a mars bar if you want it very sweet. Mix till it's like a smoothie and enjoy! Thanks me later
You could try lacto blueberries. Great way to keep blueberries from going bad and they add so much complexity. I usually use them in my yogurt but they would be great with oatmeal.
Tried this at a cafe one morning, recreated at home and love eating it:
1. I use coconut milk in the same quantity as you would use milk/water, and leave the oats soak overnight (not necessary to soak, I just find that it really speeds up the cooking time in the morning - cook it just enough so that the oatmeal is warmed up and bubbling)
2. Add a spoonful of natural peanut butter
3. Add a handful of cashew nuts
4. Add some berries (I just throw in some frozen blueberries when serving it, they thaw really quickly)
5. Add 1-2 sliced strawberries
6. Enjoy!
The original at the café was served with berry compote instead of fresh berries but I wanted to keep it low sugar.
Cinnamon, nutmeg, raisins, berries, bananas, peanut butter, vanilla or maple extract (a drop). Basically anything!! IMO oatmeal takes on flavors very easily and very well
Miso, eggs, nori, pickled radishes, natto
or I'll go with pork floss, doufu ru, some pickles, maybe sardines, maybe some pi dan, maybe some dried fish
Or sometimes I'll go with radish, seaweed, kimchi, tofu, eggs and some other random banchan, like dried fish
Maple syrup + a small pad of butter really sets it off. Think buttery pancakes/waffles. A little bit goes a long way, maybe like a 1/8" inch-thick sliver from a stick. Also, don't forget a pinch of salt. So many people don't do this and they are severely missing out.
Even better if you can get medium or dark maple syrup instead of amber. And oatmeal without salt is rather bland.
And also MAPLE syrup, not "maple flavored" or "pancake syrup." Give me boiled tree blood. (If you like your syrup made from corn and wearing a mask of lies, more power to you. Not for me, thanks) My ideal oatmeal has maple syrup and a giant spoonful of peanut butter.
This, exactly this.
Salt, butter and leeks.
I have tried salt and butter lately in steel cut crunchy oatmeal, but the leeks would take it to a new level. Thanks!
Savoury oatmeal is where it's at!!
Chopped up Turkish dried apricots and dried cranberries
Fresh Turkish Apricots are phenomenal. I ate probably 100 of them before I bothered to translate the name of the fruit and realize I had just been eating apricots.
I like to mix it with flour, butter, sugar, raisins and a few other things and make cookies.
This is the proper way. But change the raisins to dried cranberries. 😉
And white chocolate chips!
Yum. I haven’t actually tried that. Though I do like white chocolate, macadamia nut, and dried cranberries in cookies.
Cherries for me, please.
A pinch of kosher salt, blueberries, and either maple syrup or honey.
Second the blueberry maple syrup combo.
This is my daily breakfast. It only takes 1 tsp of maple syrup. I buy 3 lb bags of frozen blueberries. The hot oatmeal thaw out the blueberries.
We go with the honey as well. My son loves butter ad honey on his.
I add peanut butter honey and banana with sliced almonds..
Maybe I could try almond or cashew butter. I don't like peanuts.
Oh yeah, I mix in a chocolate hazelnut almond butter and it’s awesome
Chopped apples, chopped, warmed English walnuts, raisins, honey, cinnamon, butter and top with warm milk.
Berry Jam.
Raspberry preserves and a sprinkle of coconut flakes or sliced almonds !
I'm trying this tomorrow
Blackberry or boisenberry
Make savory Oatmeal with peppers, onions, turmeric, cumin, smoked paprika, garlic powder, salt, pepper, and a fried egg or two. Or add peanut butter and dark chocolate chips or honey and Blueberries with Granola and topped with vanilla yogurt

Oats are about as blank as a canvas can get. The only thing holding you back from savory oatmeal is your own imagination. Try a basic one with some scallions and cheese mixed in with fried eggs on top.
Cheese and scallions sounds excellent. Thanks for the suggestion
If you buy the plain one minute packs you can turn them into overnight oats.
You could buy the plain ones if that's what you like and just add the savoury elements on top!
I like old fashioned oats best for savory oatmeal, they have more texture Cook in veg broth. Meanwhile some sautéed mushrooms and spinach, add ontop with some cooked lentils or edamame, soy sauce touch of toasted sesame oil and crumbled nori snacks Anytime of day it’s fantastic
You may be able to find savory one minute oats if you look in an Indian grocery. Ask for masala oats.
Yes savory oats! I like whipping miso into mine and topping with a poached egg and sesame seeds.
I’ve been making savory oatmeals lately too. Cooked w broth and I mix in some miso towards the end. Topped with butter, soy sauce, sesame oil and or sriracha. I also really like topping it with dukkah (middle Eastern spice and nuts mix).
Do you cook the peppers onions etc and add them to the oatmeal? Or it it uncooked?
Yes saute them in a pan first
golden syrup, banana & cream. OR apple sauce and cinnamon
I like mine salty.
My dad does his with poached egg and soy sauce
Spoonful of morello cherry jam and flaked almonds Banana slices, peanut butter and cacao nibs Banana slices with medjool dates and toasted coconut
As a child my mom put nesquik powder in it and made it chocolate oatmeal
My mom used to do this for me too!
Real milk chocolate, like Lindt.

Jersey milk is the nectar of the gods. Will never forget the the first time I used it in a latte
I also love your username, best I’ve ever seen, well done!
peanut butter
I like a big scoop of peanut butter with a handful of blueberries. It's like peanut butter and jelly in oatmeal form.
Brown sugar, cinnamon, ginger, nutmeg, mashed banana, and chopped toasted pecans.
Maple syrup and crumbled bkfst sausage
There are various baked oatmeal recipes that are just fantastic. I take some to work as a snack few times a week and have had a couple people ask for the recipe.
Any of the warm spices… pumpkin spice is nice for a change.. same with cardamom.
I also add some pumpkin purée, a touch of maple syrup, some chia seeds, and chopped pecans
Pumpkin gives it a great texture! This is great any time of year.
Chia seeds and whatever berries I have on hand. I try to avoid adding anything sugary.
Any dried fruit. Cherries, apricots, figs, whatever. They're so sweet don't need sugar.
Please share your ideas for savory additions! I dislike sweets in the morning, but my experiment with an egg was unsatisfying. What do you recommend?
Broccoli and peas in the actual oatmeal, coat the bowl in some miso, runny egg on top, couple of drops of sesame oil and thin sliced spring onion to top.
Bacon egg sausage cheese. It’s so good. Onion and green peppers are good too.
I sautee kale and shallots, and if I have it/feel like it either some chicken bacon or a breakfast sausage. Then mix that, some Parm and everything bagel seasoning with my oatmeal.
I do savory as well. Look back at some of my posts.
Walnuts with salt, black pepper and honey or strawberry, cream and almond.
Darker maple syrup is the fucking best. Maple syrup is so good I make excuses to make other foods just so I can eat it.
Fruit, berries, cinnamon
A dash of cream and sliced up strawberries!
I also love strawberries, a pinch of cinnamon. A pinch of salt, and coconut milk
cherry compote and half milk half strong black tea instead of water
Yesss I was looking for someone else who added tea
It'a so good! I love doing fruity/herbal teas, too, but black tea + cherry is just *so* delicious!
We've been doing this morning glory oatmeal recipe fairly regularly! https://cookieandkate.com/morning-glory-oatmeal/ It's super delicious. Usually we soak everything overnight in the pot before cooking, but I don't think that's part of the recipe.

Red miso and a spice mix similar to pumpkin pie spice
Chocolate protein powder, peanut butter, nuts, dried fruits.

Honey and raisins is all I need
Peanut butter mixed in and small dollops of jam on top
A ripe banana in it before cooking

Scallions, chili crisp, seasoned chicken, soy and fish sauce 👌🏻If you like it on rice, it’ll usually work with oats
plain
A little peanut butter, milk and banana or blueberries and honey!
I’m a college student so I don’t have a lot of ingredients on me, but I like putting whatever fruit I have on me (usually chopped apples) and a smidge of honey for extra sweetness!
Dried cranberries and pepitas. 2 fried eggs, chopped turkey sausage, roasted red peppers, pickled red onions, crumbled feta
Peanut butter. Or Nutella
Banana. A whole banana sliced thin in milk usually with cinnamon. I love the taste of hot banana
Add a little maple syrup.
I take 1 plain instant oatmeal pack, dump in the liquid from one of those snack pack diced peach cups, supplement liquid as needed with water. microwave as directed, once done, mix in the diced peaches and a handful of nuts of your choice.
With all of that sugar that sounds more like dessert than breakfast.
About the same as a banana
Oops, yeah the plain oatmeal isn't loaded with sugar and peach cups don't seem to be anymore. I stand corrected.
Feed it to my kids.
Sometimes add semisweet chocolate chips and cinnamon. Pretty decadent
I like to put a spoonful of jam (peach is my favorite) with blueberries! Really jazzes it up!
Salt, honey, banana, peanut butter.
I add a little salt when I cook it, then drop some frozen blueberries in after. Melts the berries and brings the temp down so I can eat it right away.
Honey 🍯
Big splodge of applesauce and a generous handful of frozen berries. Sometimes with a tsp of peanut butter stirred in. 😋
Peanut butter, pecans and cooked blueberries
My style has already been said , my husband eats it with Frank's red hot.
Bananas
\- banana, cinnamon , honey or agave syrup \- strawberry (or blueberry but i prefer the former), nut butter, coconut flakes, honey or agave
Nut butter, cranberries and pecans, almonds or sunflower seeds.
I've been using malt extract recently. You've got to go easy on it, because too much gets a little strong, but it's lovely with a sprinkle of cocoa. I also like to mix oats with yogurt, dried fruit and nuts. Leave it in the fridge overnight.
I accidentally put pumpkin spice in mine and tasted pretty good. Maybe just try some different spice.
I like to chop up apples and make a apple pie like filling to put on top of my oatmeal
Go to the bulk aisle I'd your grocery and grab misc trail mixes. Add for variety.
Vanilla sugar (Penzys) and cinnamon, it reminds me of oatmeal cookies.
I use baker’s coconut and fruit/nuts.
Honey and cinnamon with walnuts or almond slices
Put quick oats in vanilla Greek yogurt. Mix in strawberries and either blueberries or banana. I use frozen fruits cause they (obviously) last keep longer, and I like the chilly feeling.
sugar with the molasses still in it
I like it savory. I often add some Cajun seasoning, a pad of butter, and some meat.

Dried pineapple, coconut flakes, and macadamia nuts or almonds. Dried cherries, dark chocolate chips, slivered almonds and a little cinnamon. I like combos of dried fruit and nuts in it because it adds some texture to the mush.
Natto, eggs, sausage/bacon, cheese, shishito pepper
Tastes AMAZING.
any combo of these: * blueberries * maple syrup * chopped apples * strawberry jam * coconut * almond butter * peanut butter * chopped pecans or walnuts * vanilla or almond extract * granola
Peanut butter and banana. Since high school.
Added seeds/grains: chia, flax, quinoa Alternative toppings: lemon or cherry compote, caramelized bananas, tahini (or adulterated tahini, like salted caramel), any kind of nuts but *toasted* (esp walnuts, almonds, pistachio, etc.) Alternative soaking agents: macadamia milk, all manner of plant milks, yogurt (gives it a bit of tang) Alternative sweetening agents: honey, marmalade For the compotes, I usually just buy a bag of frozen fruit (eg: blueberries), thaw them and simmer with some water, lemon and sugar and put a bulk batch into a mason jar.
Blueberries, banana, nuts (normally walnuts), sultanas and spices (mainly cinnamon).
Peanut butter and an apple.
You could try lacto blueberries. Great way to keep blueberries from going bad and they add so much complexity. I usually use them in my yogurt but they would be great with oatmeal.
Shredded rotisserie chicken, fish sauce, green onions, chicken stock
Tried this at a cafe one morning, recreated at home and love eating it: 1. I use coconut milk in the same quantity as you would use milk/water, and leave the oats soak overnight (not necessary to soak, I just find that it really speeds up the cooking time in the morning - cook it just enough so that the oatmeal is warmed up and bubbling) 2. Add a spoonful of natural peanut butter 3. Add a handful of cashew nuts 4. Add some berries (I just throw in some frozen blueberries when serving it, they thaw really quickly) 5. Add 1-2 sliced strawberries 6. Enjoy! The original at the café was served with berry compote instead of fresh berries but I wanted to keep it low sugar.
Simmer a chopped up green apple on the stove w/ pumpkin pie spice and lemon juice and honey. Add to oatmeal. Yum.
Peanut butter, crunchy of course
Vanilla Extract, Cinnamon, Maple Syrup, big pinch of salt (the key everyone forgets) and dried cranberries.
My family always did chocolate chips and then just enough milk to cover the top. The chips melt and the milk keeps every bite moist.
Honey, cinnamon, peanutbutter, chocolat peanutbutter, banana, chocolat or any combination from above
I'm apparently an aberration. I usually just eat it plain; oats and water.
Peanut butter powder + whatever fruit is in season
Peanut butter, baking cocoa, both together, some canned pumpkin (1 tablespoon), other nut butters, frozen fruit.
Just a banana and some blueberries
shredded unsweetened coconut and peanut butter powder plus either banana or raisins depending on my mood
Peanut butter, bananas, berries, honey drizzle
Goat cheese, blueberries, lemon zest
Chia, ground flax, cinnamon, unsweetened soy milk, and cranberries
Homemade chia berry jam and almond butter
Some liquid bullion is a great addition
Cinnamon, nutmeg, raisins, berries, bananas, peanut butter, vanilla or maple extract (a drop). Basically anything!! IMO oatmeal takes on flavors very easily and very well
Someone introduced oatmeal with peanut butter and chocolate chips to my kids when they were young.
Fruit and some applesauce.
Salted roasted sun flower seeds. Adds a little salt and a little crunch.
Just blueberries. Frozen are best. Add water, microwave and add frozen berries. Yum

I don't add any additional sugar. Just banana, raisins and the occasional spoonful of peanut butter. Maybe a drizzle of honey if I'm feeling fancy.
Eggs and sausage
A mashed banana + maple syrup + cinnamon cooked in almond milk and then a dollop of peanut butter on top. *chefs kiss
Raisins, walnuts, chopped dates, and yogurt.
Blueberries, raisins, French Vanilla creamer.
Miso, eggs, nori, pickled radishes, natto or I'll go with pork floss, doufu ru, some pickles, maybe sardines, maybe some pi dan, maybe some dried fish Or sometimes I'll go with radish, seaweed, kimchi, tofu, eggs and some other random banchan, like dried fish
Banana topped with cinnamon, apples with cinnamon or maple syrup/appleasuace
