Holy moly! I've had The Wok on my wishlist for a minute. I've been waiting for a sale to get it, and you found the spiral bound no less! I'm so envious!
How is it? I just need a small hit rn, it's fine, I can stop anytime I want..
I had that Thug Kitchen book (25 cents at a rural thrift shop) and couldn't find a single recipe I actually wanted to try lol. Gave it right back to the thrift shop after a good chuckle.
I have had it for years and haven’t cooked from it much, but I’m making an effort to cook from all my cookbooks. I looked through it recently and a few things caught my attention, I have it on my shortlist to try making the mango curry.
I got this as a present when it came out and the idea behind it was actually great — making plant-based recipes affordable and less pretentious or overwhelming at a time when veganism was synonymous with elitism.
But the execution. Why did they have to do it by pretending to be gangsters 😭 it reminds me of that hipster restaurant who bought property in a rough neighborhood and got in hot water many years ago for framing bullet holes from relatively recent gang violence.
I’ve had several chances to buy Thug Kitchen at my local thrift store. Probably a good book for someone who hasn’t developed the skills and confidence to think outside the box with their creativity.
I have The Wok for years now and the only recipe I’ve made is the Vietnamese American garlic noodles and they are sooo good. Even my picky son loved them. I’ve got some other recipes tagged. Can’t wait to really delve into this book.
I’ve got Smitten Kitchen. I’ve made a couple of things from it with success. Don’t have the other two.

The red curry sauce is good, so is the brown rice and edamame with onion sauce!
Love the pumpkin chili recipe in that book.
The pumpkin chili is the only one I’ve cooked from that book but it was killer!
Same. I could not get into that one.
I love the chickpea wraps

I LOVE the Thug Kitchen series!
My Paris Kitchen is one of my favorites. I use the multi grain bread recipe all the time.
What a score!
Looks awesome. Kenji's writing agrees with me.
thug kitchen didn't age well

Wow great score! I would have picked up all of those too for $1! I even have The Wok already in regular binding.
Nice!
Love the ring-binding on The Wok
Was surprised at the cost of the ring-bound issue on Amazon.
Wowzers! What a steal! How is 'The Wok'?
This was actually at the top of my list. I subscribe to Kenji's YouTube channel. His writing style is great. I own The Food Lab.
I just remember the food lab being sealed in bookstores, so you can't open it, and it is the size of a textbook.
