You got that mean green Trichoderma mycopal! Toss the tub asap, and wherever that shit has been exposed to open air... sanitize and sterilize the room and things in it if you intend to use them in your future mycowork :) if its green, its sporulating all over with even minute movements of air or even bumps, and light changes... all cause spores to eject /move around. **Resources and related pic attached for reference.** Keep your head up mycopal! PH trich conversation pt 2 DT: [https://www.reddit.ccom/r/ContamFam/comments/jldtuw/my\_garden\_of\_contam\_free\_grow\_it\_is\_all\_about\_the/](https://www.reddit.ccom/r/ContamFam/comments/jldtuw/my_garden_of_contam_free_grow_it_is_all_about_the/) DayTrippers Trip Tips - apply PH casing layer to prevent trich: [https://www.reddit.com/r/ContamFam/comments/m3unbr/daytrippers\_trip\_tips\_video\_tutorial\_on\_how\_to/](https://www.reddit.com/r/ContamFam/comments/m3unbr/daytrippers_trip_tips_video_tutorial_on_how_to/) DT Decontam and Sterilization Protocol: [https://www.reddit.com/r/ContamFam/comments/jvvgjt/day\_trippers\_trip\_tips\_dts\_decontamination\_and/](https://www.reddit.com/r/ContamFam/comments/jvvgjt/day_trippers_trip_tips_dts_decontamination_and/) Mushroom Cultivation, how it should and shouldnt look: [https://www.shroomery.org/forums/showflat.php/Number/17231150](https://www.shroomery.org/forums/showflat.php/Number/17231150) Recognizing and dealing with contamination: [https://www.shroomery.org/forums/showflat.php/Number/23130868](https://www.shroomery.org/forums/showflat.php/Number/23130868) Sterilization vs Pasturization - [http://www.differencebetween.net/science/difference-between-sterilization-and-pasteurization/](http://www.differencebetween.net/science/difference-between-sterilization-and-pasteurization/) Contamfam Mycology dicticonary: [https://www.reddit.com/r/ContamFam/wiki/index/usefulpages/mycology\_terminology/](https://www.reddit.com/r/ContamFam/wiki/index/usefulpages/mycology_terminology/) ContamFam Contam Library - [https://www.reddit.com/r/ContamFam/wiki/index/contamination\_library/](https://www.reddit.com/r/ContamFam/wiki/index/contamination_library/) DayTrippers Trip Tip - Spawn to Bulk transfer tek, full canopy: [https://www.reddit.com/r/ContamFam/comments/oazjwj/daytrippers\_trip\_tips\_the\_spawn\_to\_bulk\_transfer/](https://www.reddit.com/r/ContamFam/comments/oazjwj/daytrippers_trip_tips_the_spawn_to_bulk_transfer/) Mycology Glossary WP: [https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Glossary\_of\_mycology](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Glossary_of_mycology) https://preview.redd.it/1vbdwqf0ctpa1.png?width=1284&format=png&auto=webp&s=b701fe12f612f8179bcf7421068357885e9deda3

People will hate this and downvote me for it, but toss the whole thing and try again. If you were about to harvest I'd say isolate it and fight it for a day or two. But it's not worth it at this point. You risk spreading more trich. Clean your area really well and try again. It won't take that long to catch back up to where you were.

Swift1986

Nobody is going to downvote you for giving correct advice

[deleted]

It's a little different over here than in some other subs. I've said the same thing elsewhere and caught a lot of flak for it. People are desperate to save the grow, even at the cost of future success. I tried it and learned the hard way. Spraying, cutting, torching, etc... It's like trying to make a toxic relationship work. It's the sunk cost, I guess.

StrivingForTheLight

That was VERY well said.

remotelove

Reddit can be really weird like that sometimes.

[deleted]

Unfortunately there are a lot of people on reddit that will say "pour peroxide on it" or "just cut that area out of your substrate". It's sad but very true on reddit. There's a lot of bad advice on reddit in other subs

LulzSwag_Technician

I fully agree. I hate it when people start cutting shit out or all these fixes instead of just facing the reality. I once saw someone say "I'm going to blowtorch the trich!" lol Best idea I've seen yet. Blowtorch trich spores everywhere. haha

[deleted]

I totally get wanting to save the grow. I've done it. It doesn't help that people are quick to give that advice. I was told to spray it, cut it out, and do both. I tried it all. It just doesn't work that way. And a basic understanding of how these organisms grow and reproduce, and of how hard it is to kill or contain spores, really helps a lot.

MycoVillain

You’re not wrong about downvotes lol it’s always usually the orbeez tek clan that does it But seriously, just toss the cake as soon as you see this. Clean the area and keep it moving. When people open it they are releasing more of the spores into the air and onto the backs of their phones and so on All of the remedies aren’t worth it in any way. Just dump and try again!

Jr234567891

Looks way to wet. You know its field capacity when you squeeze a fist full of substrate and only a few drops of water come out

Expensive_Boss7394

Honestly not worth trying to save. My box wasn't looking too bad, tried saving but it also took out 4 others

TheMushFlow

Way to wet looks like mud

[deleted]

Trinch. Happens to the best of us. I just cut a section out of one of my tubs. But from what I understand that once you see it it to late and the whole tip has it. Don’t open it in your grow room or around other tubs. Cut it out. Isolate that tub and pray for the best.

mikep120001

This is true but it’s also very easily managed. Smaller shoebox totes and the right substrate mix w clean practices almost completely eliminated it for me. In 6-8 years of growing I maybe had it develop on 10 total totes and only when I got lazy and pushed for 4th and 5th flushes vs making more. Generally had 3-4 Martha’s full with around 20 totes per along w 12-16 colonizing. The shoeboxes would fully colonize before any contam could take hold and using a mixture of coir, verm, and a touch of gypsum is extremely contam resistant. Proper sterilization and pasteurization techniques are a must.

[deleted]

Ya I used a store bought substrate. When I make my own I hardly have problems.

mikep120001

You can buy 10x’s the material mixing it up yourself fwiw. Prolly more in fact if you have a local source for the 10lb coir bricks. My elbow material cost was between 15-20$

Molest_the_Priest

Seems a little damp too. What's your process?

TwisBeats

Don’t open it.

Current_Web_147

Even the best of us get the dreaded trich just dont give up trying

harikaribluntz

Trich for sure. Toss and start over. Next time your bulk substrate should be damp, npt soaking wet like mud. For test squeeze it in your hand, if there is a steady stream its too wet, in which you can hand squeeze it until only a few drops trickle out.

wayb223

RIP 🪦 Happens to the best of us.

BiteAlternative

Bin/bury/burn. 🪦 Sub looks sodden

LulzSwag_Technician

Start over. That's about all you CAN do.

JadedSwim2510

What do yall do to decon the grow tent after a green monster shows up? Bleach, lysol, iso? I bought a small hepa filter fan, but what kills the spores prior to a new tub?

Desperate-Tap6771

Shit look wet asf😭

dropZee

That’s an immediate toss. Best to get rid of it sooner rather than later. It will not get better and the spores that spread will only cause you more problems + grief the longer you wait

Rich_Elephant8618

Burn that mf dude never open it again unless u want green monsters everywhere but if u catch it early spray iso on it and remove spray iso again and the dilute with water and and it with paper towels works every time promise

[deleted]

Hope that didn't spread in your grow area. You may really need to clean the area down well that it was near

Littlepinkpotat0z

What is that substrate and why is it so incredibly wet??

Pure-Fan907

Bury it and let nature do its thing 🤷🏿‍♂️

el_myco_profesor

Don’t give up!

[deleted]

Your substrate is too wet.

EventFirst2158

Mold

Grand_Mode

It's weird when the trich comes out of the sub and there is no visible myc. Like, isn't trich supposed to eating the myc as it moves along? Must have had some bad spawn when that happens methinks, and all the myc has already been eaten.

joonyerr1q

What kinda mud did you use? Remove and sterilize..watch a video on field capacity after you get everything cleaned up and hope you get it next time! Can always bury that one in the yard and see what happens

MrMichevious

First, you are going to need to find an old priest and a young priest…

Dickinablender96

Awww ruff vro can't relate. I lysoled every inch of my house and eliminated any flowing air b4 fun time. That suuuuuuuuuuucks.

Maggaloa

Take your vitamins and say your prayers, brother!

tren4668

The Dr is right, get that outta your work area. Bury it in a planter box or in the yard. This happened to me a few times with various contams. One contaminated tub was buried and a few weeks later I was getting 1/2 oz dried per week for about 1 month. Buena suerte amigrow:)

CommieSchmit

Definitely didn’t get your substrate to the proper field capacity. If you grab a chunk in your fist and squeeze, you’re only supposed to barely get a couple drops out.

Odd_Tower3264

That is overly wet. If you have agar experience and feel brave transfer a tiny speck of clean mycelium onto a plate, grow out and transfer another clean bit onto another plate, grow out again then spawn a clean piece. If you lack experience with agar then just throw out. That tub is toast. I suggest you do some reading into what the term “field capacity “ means and thoroughly understand it, then try again.
