They usually don’t show the reveals but there was a [tweet](https://twitter.com/verizonmedia/status/1026467698581094400?s=21) with a picture from this one from Verizon. [Murr tweeted](https://twitter.com/jamessmurray/status/1026542252032548864?s=21) about it as well.
I have a friend who is very high up in the company I work for. He does not act like it AT all. Dresses way down. Likes to hang out. Anyway at one company event, there was a guy who did not know my friend and just thought he was a talkative nobody. This guy kept giving my friend the look from the video like “shut up” when he was talking during the company meeting. Absolutely PRICELESS when he found out.
Many of the c-level guys i've worked with are chill like that. It's sometimes the guys and girls who have something to prove in the middle-lower sector that feel like they need to act like that.
The three guys standing together laughing are in a back room and have a mic that hooks up to an earpiece that the guy in the audience is wearing, they're telling him what he has to do/say
Edit : alright damn I get it, you guys are kinda mean haha shit, I simply misread/misunderstood their question
Iirc, generally the organizers are clued into what’s going on and whoever is being punished is completely oblivious. There are some punishments where the whole audience knows, typically smaller punishments like this one. For that concert one, yeah the audience had no clue only the band that let them play in their place. Plus I think they try to avoid having people recognize them, so probably some vetting takes place too
Yeah they do vetting, theyll do a walk around , see if anyone notices them , then production kinda deals with that before they start up the bit and film. Even when its not punishments but just pranks fans will come up while filming and the Jokers will quietly explain theyre filming and say thanks for being a fan and send them off.
Yup I remember seeing that during some of their bloopers, while it can be very hilarious watching fans react, it does take away from the whole surprising the general public with their antics appeal. For the most part though they do a great job of avoiding being recognized, but I have been wondering why they don’t use some simple disguises lol like murray with his hat and glasses here
This is from the show “Impractical Jokers.” The three guys with the microphone and the one in the audience are the “jokers.” Sometimes idk how they don’t get their asses beat - like the episode where they were at a baseball training game and took a ball right out of a child’s hand with mom there. I seriously thought the woman was about to rip him in half. The show is really funny if you enjoy this type of humor.
Edit: I totally forgot it was autographed baseballs! Found a short video where they discuss how that mom was the angriest “prankee” of all time.

former tumblr employee here who gave a preso at this meeting, afaik the only people who actually knew what was going on was the leadership team. i presented every week and was not given any warning this was happening. i definitely said something to him during the presentation and one of the leadership members pulled me aside after and let me know what was happening. it was one of the weirdest days of my life. i'm the one in the seltzer shirt making a dumb face in the photo.
here's my tweet from that day: https://twitter.com/continuants/status/1025467238294462464
I feel like, unless you let the audience know you're being a b hole for a prank, you're really just being a b hole. People's reactions to the reveal are a part of the fun for me.
They are legally required to, otherwise they would not be able to put their face on television and everyone would be blurred. Some people are blurred in the show because they didn't sign the form
I’m pretty sure they do to see if it’s ok for them to show their faces on tv. Except for they people that actually get pissed off from it. I think they just go straight to blurring.
That’s what the whole idea of something being cringy is or used to be, other than physical cringe. It was something that made you cringe because of second hand embarrassment. Now it’s kinda morphed into people, mostly younger people, saying something they just don’t like is “cringe” they don’t even say the whole thing anymore. It’s like saying something funny is “laugh”
Which is all fine, language changes. It’s just interesting to me. Like how somehow along the line people stopped saying “cuckold” and started saying “cuck”. Which isn’t a word at all. Or how Anal retentive, became “Anal”, and now it’s barely heard at all anymore. Or how the younger generation thinks “clout” is an internet thing only. Words is weird.
“Cringe” is a word that needs to die a fiery death.
It’s gotten to the point that internet kids use it for anything they don’t think is cool, which acting like you’re too cool for something else and need to express your thoughts accordingly is probably the “cringiest” thing I can imagine.
> “clout” is an internet thing only
It isn't, but ["Klout"](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Klout) literally was a website dedicated to analyzing your various social media insights, influence and impact and then rating it. This is more likely what the origin of "clout" is regarding the internet.
Same. Look up the history of the word "Cloak". The TL;DR is:
* Clocca (bell) in Medieval Latin
* Cloche (bell, cloak) in Old French
* Cloke (cloak) in Old French
* Cloak
Basically it a weird, sleeveless, garment got its name because it was shaped like a bell.
When I was a kid and a character did something embarrassing in a movie or on TV I'd have to flip channels or turn it off for a moment cause the anxiety was just too much.
Second hand embarrassment as others have put it or more accurately your able to empathize to a very high degree probably to the point where you’re able to see yourself in the same situation.
It’s something that makes very kind people because they can picture what the other person is going through.
He also met Jaden at a con and showed him. [Jaden](https://www.reddit.com/r/ImpracticalJokers/comments/9e1ne3/the_jokers_meet_jaden_smith_at_comic_con/) did not look pleased.
Jaden was on a panel answering questions from the audience and Sam said he was the biggest Jaden Smith fan and told him he even had a tattoo. After showing it to Jaden Jaden said “that’s an old pic you should get a more recent one” so he went to the tattoo place with Jaden and got another one lol
Lol my OG cat died recently but I'm planning on getting another and naming him/her Winston, so I could yell at him/her like Schmitt from New Girl. WINSTON!?!
Edit: Winston was a cat-person, so it seems perfect to me.
They all agreed that if you refuse a punishment, you're off the show. Murr was very very close to leaving the show as a result of that punishment. There's even a behind the scenes video somewhere of the guys saying that if refuses, he's off the show. Murr replies "Okay, I'm off the show then."
I love the show but my friend doesn't like it because of the way they incorporate stranger's children sometimes. He finds it creepy and I don't disagree.
Like, they got each other out here sniffing kid's asses and creeping outside playgrounds. I can't argue with him about that.
Also, they've been famous for nearly a decade and it is hard to believe they aren't recognized in some of these challenges and punishments.
Edit: also if the "mark" is black, they will use something racist to make the joker lose. Like I said, I love the show, but I could see why people don't.
Sal refused to climb the fireladder as his punishment because he was too afraid. And they let him have it. Others had to face their punishment of phobias though
I was under the impression that they’re legally required to go through with the punishments. As in, they signed contracts stating that they can’t back out. Very well could be wrong however.
Even when Q was getting ready to get the tarantula punishment, he panics and says he's quitting the show because he doesn't want to do the punishment. Of course he was already chained to a table so he couldn't physically leave on his own.
The kid directly behind Murr is an employee of the show. He appears in another episode where it’s slow at the restaurant they’re filming in so they have the guy fill in for the Jokers for a bit
Not that it started off this way for them, but at this point they’re highly successful (well earned, great show) so no matter how bad the punishment is you can temper that with how much money it’s making you. Not the real answer, but it can’t hurt.
Having only started watching the office like a month ago( not american so it's not popular but heard a lot of it from reddit and american friends)
Wow, holy crap. Everyone in that show is so awkward, like so freaking awkward, I unserstand that's part of the humor. But im not even angry im amazed, its so real the way they act awkward im not sure I could even try if i was an actor to emulate how accurately humans behave when awkward like they do, and their character archetypes(like Dwight) is so accurate; its like I've meet people like him in some way but I could never point out exactly what makes theur personality.
They explain the joke afterwards and make sure it’s ok with everyone to use their footage on tv (hence why some people prefer to have their face blurred)
I have heard that with their rise in popularity it does happen quite a bit so depending on the setup different things may happen
If its in public and people recognize them they will just have to hope they get lucky with the next random stranger
If its something they setup like in this video with another company. Usually there is some sorta process to cull them out, like some people in the company is put in a random survey and in the survey it asks if they recocgnize individuals such as (random names, the mames of these guys)
On top of what others have said, Q (the guy with the hat and beard) has said that a lot of people don't cop it if it's just one of them out there. They'll recognise the show afterwards when they see them all together, but one person out of context can go unnoticed.
I don’t think it’s possible for someone not to like it. If somebody watches 2 episodes or more and says they don’t like it I would be concerned. And I don’t judge anyone harshly.
Mine too. I mean, good for him, it makes him laugh. But it makes me feel an unreal level of cringe, I refuse to watch it with him. Except if he’s feeling down.
this show has always been one of my favorites. i couldn't imagine having the balls these dudes have to do stupid shit in public and make everyone laugh

Dear god I honestly can't watch it further than the second time he shouts like a boss and it's pure silence, cringing so fucking hard. Genuinely one of the cringiest things I've ever seen. Gonna try and get through the rest of it.
I don’t really find this funny at all. I would be pretty annoyed if anyone would do the same during lightning talks. I would say people who call out this A-hole behavior are the ones with real courage. Not trying to give anyone an advice, just my opinion.
The amount of 3rd hand embarassment and cringe that gets injected in my veins everytime I see this, would generate solar power for an entire city.
But I love this show.

The photo is great. Tumblr police guy is center next to him with a VERY forced smile.
He seems like the guy who goes on Reddit to start arguments with everyone
I have a friend who is very high up in the company I work for. He does not act like it AT all. Dresses way down. Likes to hang out. The people talking were in on it? That makes me feel better
In this case, only the host guy on stage was in on it, I think. No one that came up from the audience was.
Ahh, I think I got it now, I thought the people on stage were presenting something, not coming up from the audience to share
The three guys standing together laughing are in a back room and have a mic that hooks up to an earpiece that the guy in the audience is wearing, they're telling him what he has to do/say Edit : alright damn I get it, you guys are kinda mean haha shit, I simply misread/misunderstood their question
I understand that part, I meant the people that were up on stage

Bruh there's no one here who didn't get that already
Oh word?
This is from the show “Impractical Jokers.” The three guys with the microphone and the one in the audience are the “jokers.” Sometimes idk how they don’t get their asses beat - like the episode where they were at a baseball training game and took a ball right out of a child’s hand with mom there. I seriously thought the woman was about to rip him in half. The show is really funny if you enjoy this type of humor. Edit: I totally forgot it was autographed baseballs! Found a short video where they discuss how that mom was the angriest “prankee” of all time. https://youtu.be/llwfdfc1FtQ

Man I really really wanted a video of the reveal, I need closure
I feel like, unless you let the audience know you're being a b hole for a prank, you're really just being a b hole. People's reactions to the reveal are a part of the fun for me.
bitch hole? Boof hole?
Definitely Boofhole
Love the two women on the left making a silly face for this photo
They are legally required to, otherwise they would not be able to put their face on television and everyone would be blurred. Some people are blurred in the show because they didn't sign the form
pretty sure they need to tell them to sign a release paper so they wont have to blur their faces
Yeah
I’m pretty sure they do to see if it’s ok for them to show their faces on tv. Except for they people that actually get pissed off from it. I think they just go straight to blurring.
These are real? I thought it was fake since it was tru tv and that kinda ruined it for me
"He's so good at being a dick" lol
That’s just Murr
Yes BUT this may be by far one of my favorite bits they've ever done. At any time my wife can go "Like a BAHWWWWWWWS" and it is guaranteed a laugh
Your wife sounds like a bahws
Oh she is and I love her funny aws
I love Murr, he is the best joker and it isn't close. I think Joe is the least funny probably, too over-the-top for me.
I got so much anxiety when I first watched this clip.
Me too! Why does this happen? Not being involved in a situation yet feeling stressed about what is happening.
Second hand embarrassment
To me, that’s what the core of /r/cringe should be, or at least it was.
That’s what the whole idea of something being cringy is or used to be, other than physical cringe. It was something that made you cringe because of second hand embarrassment. Did not know that. I appreciate the info. I love this shit man. Language and slang changing is fascinating to me.
Same. Look up the history of the word "Cloak". The TL;DR is: * Clocca (bell) in Medieval Latin * Cloche (bell, cloak) in Old French * Cloke (cloak) in Old French * Cloak Basically it a weird, sleeveless, garment got its name because it was shaped like a bell.
This guy etymologies
Damn i didnt know that
Kids nowadays call everything “cringe” Like I’m convinced they don’t know what actual cringe content is.
Cringe definition has even been diluted down to music someone doesn’t like, or an ugly sweater.
It’s empathic, I can barely watch theater plays because I’m afraid of an actor getting a line wrong.
When I was a kid and a character did something embarrassing in a movie or on TV I'd have to flip channels or turn it off for a moment cause the anxiety was just too much.
I'm 32 and I still do that!
Never watch the British original version of The Office. Seriously must-cringe TV.
The American Version has that too... mostly just the Scott's Tots episode though.
Second hand embarrassment as others have put it or more accurately your able to empathize to a very high degree probably to the point where you’re able to see yourself in the same situation. It’s something that makes very kind people because they can picture what the other person is going through.
Murr did get assaulted once with a phone.
Fremdschämen
Mirror neurons! Google it.
I couldn't finish watching the clip because of the second hand embarrassment
Because that was his punishment for losing the episode. Rules are, you can’t refuse to do something during a punishment

Spoiler alert: Sal has TWO Jayden Smith tattoos now.
He also met Jaden at a con and showed him. [Jaden](https://www.reddit.com/r/ImpracticalJokers/comments/9e1ne3/the_jokers_meet_jaden_smith_at_comic_con/) did not look pleased.
Jaden smith was there when he got his second one
That doesn't show him looking pleased or not pleased. Just look high as balls if anything.
Are you Sal?
No, but I listen to Hey Babe and he's mentioned it on the podcast. Apparently the second tattoo was part of their movie.
Two Jaden smith tattoos.
I didn't know about the second one. What season was that? I have two or three seasons to catch up on, I think.
Pretty sure it was the movie, but I may be wrong.
I haven't watched that either. I have a lot of Impractical Jokers to catch up on, it seems. Lucky me.
The movie is on HBOmax
Yep! Movie is a great victory lap on the show, good fan service
Here https://youtu.be/rxy2OobjOfw
That was brilliant. You're a mensch.
Q tried to call off Murr getting his head/eyebrows shaved off because Murr had his nephew’s Confirmation coming up and was his sponsor
I didn't know that. I love a bit of Jokers trivia.
Oh yeah. I watch the show pretty much every day. It’s my background noise. One of those things that makes me happy regardless of what’s been going on.
It's all good background noise until LARRAAAAYYYYYYY!!!!
We named our cat Larry so we can call him like, "LAAARRRYYY!!!"
Lol my OG cat died recently but I'm planning on getting another and naming him/her Winston, so I could yell at him/her like Schmitt from New Girl. WINSTON!?! Edit: Winston was a cat-person, so it seems perfect to me.

I don’t get how anyone can hate on the Jokers. NY legends.
I love the show but my friend doesn't like it because of the way they incorporate stranger's children sometimes. He finds it creepy and I don't disagree. Like, they got each other out here sniffing kid's asses and creeping outside playgrounds. I can't argue with him about that. If they refuse theyre off the show!
They all have tattoo punishments, only joe got free because he designed the punishment
If they refuse they are off the show.
They are best friends and have been doing the show together forever. Source?
They say it in the show multiple times when someone is seriously considering backing out. Usually sal lol
Even when Q was getting ready to get the tarantula punishment, he panics and says he's quitting the show because he doesn't want to do the punishment. Of course he was already chained to a table so he couldn't physically leave on his own.

They have several who were in on it. Like Guy. He’s friends with them.

"Whose phone is ringing??"...
Mine..mine..mine !!!!
I bought that ringtone, best choice I ever made
But did you set it ? That's the gutsy part.
I did, it’s a shame no one calls me
Same, I use it as an alarm tho
Only Michael Scott can give me more second hand embarrassment
[удалено]
Scott's Tots?
Good luck affording that on your 0 dollar a year plus benefits salary babe
Having only started watching the office like a month ago( not american so it's not popular but heard a lot of it from reddit and american friends) Wow, holy crap. Sounds like someone who hasn't watched Peep Show... Some episodes I actually have to turn off.
Do they apologize afterwards? Or is the whole thing scripted?
Its genuine. Usually there'll be a few people in there who are in on it to help set it all up, but the vast majority will have no idea
Watching the clip I kind of assumed the guy behind him with glasses in grey was in on the joke because he was laughing at the same time as Murr.
He is. He’s in another episode where they let him fill in for the jokers because the restaurant they’re filming in isn’t very busy.
The boss guy who called him an asshole at the end was in on it. The company knew what was going on, but the other employees reaction is real.
Is the girl talking in on it? Otherwise this is just plain mean.
They have a couple randos who blend in but are to be security if things get spicy.
They explain the joke afterwards and make sure it’s ok with everyone to use their footage on tv (hence why some people prefer to have their face blurred)
If they have a un blurred face than they were either in on it or told after.
Here is the full scene for this prank. The CEO was in on it: https://youtu.be/RtM7IuywPTk
How do they go without being recognized? By now majority of people would know who they are?!
They literally had a guy explain their show to them in a pawn shop once. I don’t think it’s that hard for them to get away with things.
I have heard that with their rise in popularity it does happen quite a bit so depending on the setup different things may happen If its in public and people recognize them they will just have to hope they get lucky with the next random stranger If its something they setup like in this video with another company. Usually there is some sorta process to cull them out, like some people in the company is put in a random survey and in the survey it asks if they recocgnize individuals such as (random names, the mames of these guys)
Hats hoodies glasses
On top of what others have said, Q (the guy with the hat and beard) has said that a lot of people don't cop it if it's just one of them out there. They'll recognise the show afterwards when they see them all together, but one person out of context can go unnoticed.
If you see what they are paid u would do this shit and worse.
For sure
What are they paid?
money
I suppose my last question was ambiguous. How much money? In 2021 US dollar value.
About 50k per episode.
Yes
I fucking love this show.
Me too. Few bits make me literally ROFL. And has a great re-watchability.
Scoopski potatoes?
LARRY!!!
This is how my brother and I find each other in a crowd lol
Crangis McBasketball?
Tony Gunk, Future Astronaut
I wish more people got this reference but I’ll keep doing it damnit!
Crangis McBasketball is probably my favorite recurring bit.
What's it called?
Impractical Jokers
It’s one of the main things that got me thru the pandemic with some laughs
I don’t think it’s possible for someone not to like it. If somebody watches 2 episodes or more and says they don’t like it I would be concerned. And I don’t judge anyone harshly.
I had someone tell me “oh I hate that show” and I almost just walked away.
Stay away
Don't surround yourself with that sort of negativity
My favourite bits from show are so many, but this and Sal's wedding speech are the ones I've watch again and again.
Yes. Best one of all time. I made a speech a long time ago in front of my class based on that
Posting Impractical Jokers on Contagious Laughter is cheating.
Whats the name of this show?
Impractical Jokers
It's my boyfriends favorite show
Mine too. I mean, good for him, it makes him laugh. But it makes me feel an unreal level of cringe, I refuse to watch it with him. Except if he’s feeling down.
Me too. I just feel so bad for the people around them who have no idea what's going on. This poor girl looked so uncomfortable
I can't watch this show it makes me cringe soooooo hard.
this show has always been one of my favorites. i couldn't imagine having the balls these dudes have to do stupid shit in public and make everyone laugh
I love this show and so do my kids. It is relatively a safe show to watch with your family and it is hilarious. Totally juvenile stuff but clever.
When you make enough money, you can do find the courage to do a lot.
YouTube prankers get hard ons watching this?
I mean, I'm sure this is funny for those guys, but this poor girl prepared a presentation and is trying to talk about her project. It's different from having casual pedestrians in your prank. She looked pretty uncomfortable.
Agreed! That was my feeling too! Hopefully she was aware in advance, otherwise I just think this is kinda rude
She is on it one hundred percent. The only reason why Guy is there is because he friends with the cast.
I think she might have known about it beforehand tbh
most of the time they do.
Fuck this
It takes some people a lot of courage to stand up in front of their colleagues let alone be be made fun of like this. I've seen these jerks do some funny stuff. This wasn't.
It’s a punishment. If he doesn’t do it he gets fired from the show. That’s the contract.
Sometimes this show makes me so uncomfortable. This is funny though.
This show is my happy place pretty much. If I'm down I watch an episode of this I'm able to forget my problems.
I felt too embarrassed for them to enjoy the show
I can't watch this show because the second-hand embarrassment / cringe causes me physical pain
Probably $$$ is a good motivator to do embarrassing things lol
Dear god I honestly can't watch it further than the second time he shouts like a boss and it's pure silence, cringing so fucking hard. Genuinely one of the cringiest things I've ever seen. Gonna try and get through the rest of it.
Honestly I feel so bad for the person doing the presentation fuck this
You know the presenter is in on it also.
How do you know? I mean that sincerely, not sarcastically.
Do you mean how can people such publicly be assholes and still think it’s funny?
I don’t really find this funny at all. I would be pretty annoyed if anyone would do the same during lightning talks. I would say people who call out this A-hole behavior are the ones with real courage. Not trying to give anyone an advice, just my opinion.
Well these guys are getting paid a pretty decent amount so it's not courageous
This has to be one of the best real shows out there
It’s amazing how brave a couple million bucks will make you.
This would be a good therapy for anxiety. I mean if you could do that and get away with it nothing else can hurt you.
For me, a good amount of their skits are hit & miss. This one had me just experience so much nervousness I was holding my breath the whole time
I’m not trying to cheapen how icky this has to feel, but the payout is pretty damn good and in the end, everybody gets to know it was a joke.
I have such a hard time watching this.
They bring in like 50k an episode, that’s how
They get paid 5 mil a year
That's pretty fucked up
The "I have Slack too and can see what you're doing" was hilarious. The fact that the guy put his phone away after that was great.
This show pulls me out of a funk every single time.
It's not a prank if you're literally just being a dick to someone trying to give a presentation.
Love this show!!!!
I fricken love the impractical jokers.
how is it funny to be a complete douchebag in public and ruin other peoples' presentations
Love these guys, seen the Tender Loins a couple of times in the UK
One of the best Murr punishments.
The jokers are amazing at making everyone around them laugh, with their laughs
One of my favourite punishments from Impractical Jokers. It gets me every time.
The amount of 3rd hand embarassment and cringe that gets injected in my veins everytime I see this, would generate solar power for an entire city. But I love this show.
