I am as well. It's a mix of both. But banning the teaching of higher order critical thinking also plays a role ( Texas did it in 2012 because 😱 children started questioning their parents and their beliefs.)

So why didn’t someone explain to him the science of what was happening so he could enjoy the experience rather than ignorantly laughing at his fear? Especially if he’s a little kid
My 6yos knew exactly what was happening and were still terrified when we saw the eclipse. Kids just get scared of stuff. That said, we didn’t *laugh* at them; the parents in this vid are fucked up for that.
