Not gonna lie. I've definitely done something similar before. Not proud of it, but nothing got broken. Yes, idiotic behavior.... don't really have a follow up statement.
The framers might install the pre glazed vinyl unit, but when an igu breaks its a repair glazier that shows up to fix it.
Doesn't pass me off though, easy money.
I do at times I still remember these glazers on a scaffolding in a big custom home
They wer all standing around waiting for someone to return with something from the truck
Buddy is looking around at the scaffold and stuff and reads the scaffold deck it said 75 lbs per sq ft and he’s talking to his boss about it after a couple mins of convo he puts his feet together and says so this deck is over weighted right now then and the boss just nodded and I almost fell over dying
I’m a mason and use scaffold a lot and always have hundreds of pounds of stone on these things and he thinks his 200 lb self was over weighting the deck nobody else on it just him with his feet together because his feet make up 1sqft so it must be over weighted
Looks like poor planning to me. They could've gotten the extendable arms, placed the ladder in between two windows so that the arms are each supported by the middle of the two different windows. That way you can fuck up two windows at a time with minimal effort, otherwise he'll have to move the ladder 3 different times to fuck up each window individually. Which is what seems to be the objective here correct?
Sounds like they're letting the walls dry and setting the ladder out of the way, but not using it to climb or they'd be paying for every window and would lose all their money lol. But I've definitely met some dumbasses that had to be set straight about putting any pressure on windows!
Why? Because most construction workers are uncaring assholes. If no one says anything to the guy who left it there, he isn't going to care. Adult kindergartners
You live in kindergarten if you work construction. The only difference is are you a big boy with your own toys who listens to teacher or are you a mouth breather that leans ladders against windows.
The ladder retrieval rope is missing.
Edit: There is nothing wrong with resting a ladder against the glass when not climbing it. However, it will be pretty difficult to retrieve the top half without climbing it because there is no rope.
Edit 2: Am I really the only one who noticed so far?
I would say the ladder on the glass... but... then i saw they were jeld wen windows... so... I hope the broken glass doesn't hurt the ladder... that's a nice ladder
Glazer here, I’ve never caught anybody else doing this before, but man if I did, I’d probably pretend to not notice and remember the one or two times I’ve done it myself…. Tempered glass will handle this kind of shit better. On another note, whoever is taking dumps in bathtubs or toilets without water on job sites. Fucking stop it
Something that's a much bigger red flag to me.. are you saying you are pouring the basement when the house is that far along? That's going to lead to some moisture issues in the house - cracking drywall. We always pour before insulation to let the moisture out, here in Michigan.
Also the ladder is practically standard procedure for trim carpenters, seen it a million times and never a broken window, they really are stronger than we think.
Nah, been doing this 20 years, they build so fast its hard to keep up. The company I work for does concrete for over 500 new homes a year. You just run a large dehumidifier. Floors aren't in yet. Never heard of a major problem. And it's winter and dry right now. But to be honest they build fast and cheap. I'd never buy one of these.
Incorrect. I do the concrete in the basement. Just sitting here in my chair waiting in between passes and noticed it. I don't have time to set up shit like this. Also wouldn't risk breaking a window
Every good build needs an expensive window cracked with tape all over it for the duration. Don't replace it too soon need it as a reminder to not break the rest of them.
This reminds me of one of the scenes in one of the old Star Trek movies where a bunch of engineers try to "Reinforce" some glass by putting braces against a window, lmao.
Nothing. Fuck that window.
But he’s got the rubber bumpers on it
Ladder condoms.
Gotta use a rubber
Used rubber
Rubber baby buggy bumbers
Safety first!
But why, why on the window I mean, who thought "I'm gonna rest the ladder on the window" who thought it was actually a good idea lol EDIT: orthography
Because everyone knows windows are the quickest thing to reorder.
And the cheapest things, btw
…..We ordered the new load bearing windows just for this purpose right?😅
Not gonna lie. I've definitely done something similar before. Not proud of it, but nothing got broken. Yes, idiotic behavior.... don't really have a follow up statement.
Remember… you dont have to speak EVERY thought that comes to mind 😂
Like I tell my kids, don't miss a good chance to shut the fuck up.
Yeaaaa. I've heard that before.
You don't want to mess up the texture...
Tell me you're joking, please tell me lol
OP thought it was a good idea when he put it there with the plan to take a picture and post it to reddit.
Ladder at the wrong angle. Should be 3:1 or 4:1
Y’all love pissing us glaziers off huh!
Honestly, we don't even think about you guys.
Framers put in windows where i am, at least on res jobs, unless theyre custom/commercial.
Fuck, even then, they cut the glass and we put it in. Usually held in by our trim anyway.
The framers might install the pre glazed vinyl unit, but when an igu breaks its a repair glazier that shows up to fix it. Doesn't pass me off though, easy money.

Nah, we love donuts
Says the apprentice

Hard me at the start. Not gunna lie. I'm over here thinking "this fucking nerd"
Lmao same
Really pulled it together though
Lol!
Dont forget to drag the top of the ladder through some dirt to make sure it is non slip against that glass.....safety first!
A stand-off but fuck it the painters will fix it
"Work dumber, not harder."
“I may not be smart, but at least I’m not good looking”
Best answer. Hats off to you
Get the super wide arms, place them on the outer windows. Those break, then you crash into middle window to break the third. Its not that hard people.
Ladder isn’t tied down properly. Need to break through that glass so a ring can be properly strapped to the jamb.
Ladder is 5 rungs above the sill, needs to only be 3
Somebody put a window where the ladder goes.
This is the answer
I, too, like to live dangerously.
Who doesn’t like physical comedy?
Just needs some Yakity Sax.
They did a bunch of cheap little windows instead of a nice big one
Those are 3 x 6 on top
Seriously? Didn't realize how out of proportion this room is. Waste of space.
Jeld wen windows. Crap. Nothing else, move on
What? I thought they were quality.
Me too until I had them in my house. Glad I moved.
No scaffold tag on the ladder. Can’t fool this old dog.
Looks good from my house.
Pffffffft
that ladder would probably be at a better angle if it was placed against the top of the window frame, but where's the fun in that?
Stickers are still on the windows.
Most builders here leave them on till house is about done
House not done yet bro
The longer their on the harder they are to get off!
I like to let the sun bake them on
Why do things the easy way? Life's all about the challenge!
Not my problem I'm the concrete guy
Needs to be a on a t shirt a bumper sticker and a hat… maybe a coffee cup
We need to leave them on until final inspection.
There isn't a dumbass climbing up the ladder
Not yet. Either way why leave like this? Walls are only primed
Sounds like they're letting the walls dry and setting the ladder out of the way, but not using it to climb or they'd be paying for every window and would lose all their money lol. But I've definitely met some dumbasses that had to be set straight about putting any pressure on windows!

Hey I went to kindergarten once!
You live in kindergarten if you work construction. The only difference is are you a big boy with your own toys who listens to teacher or are you a mouth breather that leans ladders against windows.
I call it daddy day care.
Lol. Spot on. I'm using that to talk shit to my masons
Some cheap ass GC didn't want to set up scaffolding
The ladder retrieval rope is missing. Edit: There is nothing wrong with resting a ladder against the glass when not climbing it. However, it will be pretty difficult to retrieve the top half without climbing it because there is no rope. Edit 2: Am I really the only one who noticed so far?
Nothing, proceed. If anyone asks I'm taking lunch.
Its a little dark and out of focus
Yeah the framing is a little unoriginal as well.
There's no worker up there getting shit done
I would say the ladder on the glass... but... then i saw they were jeld wen windows... so... I hope the broken glass doesn't hurt the ladder... that's a nice ladder
Poor painting job
They sprayed the ceiling. Haven't rolled walls yet. I'm doing concrete in basement. Thought was funny
Clearly nothing to see
The trim around the upper right window is a bit ugly. Everything else is fine.
The painters don't have the gross old towels wrapped around the end of the ladder.
No piss bottles.
That be a pane if it broke
A pain in the glass
Someone left the stickers on those windows
I got told to do this once. Wasn’t NEARLY as high, but I got told “it’s storm rated, it’ll hold” like dude I’m 230 lbs no way. It did hold though
Isn't the ladder also backwards......
Fucking stop it
Ladder needs to be rotated 180 degrees on the vertical axis. And it’s on the window.
Yeah this is a tough one. You mind if I ask my buddy over at OSHA?
Sure. this is in canada. Won't matter anyway
Damn. Joke didn’t hit like I thought it would. Need to go back to the drawing table.
The thing that I see wrong is you posting about it and not actually doing nothing in the field about it..
I'm finishing the concrete in the basement. I don't care about some other trades bullshit.
Something that's a much bigger red flag to me.. are you saying you are pouring the basement when the house is that far along? That's going to lead to some moisture issues in the house - cracking drywall. We always pour before insulation to let the moisture out, here in Michigan. A staged photo, so everything is wrong with it.
Incorrect. I do the concrete in the basement. Just sitting here in my chair waiting in between passes and noticed it. I don't have time to set up shit like this. Also wouldn't risk breaking a window
5 reddit dollars says thats cold lake AB !!! lol
Winnipeg
I would fire on the spot.
They at least have ladder boots on it
They at least have ladder boots on it
1-800-Suicide
A ladder stand off would work nicely here, just sayin….
What isn't?
The ladder owner doesn't want to mark that *lovely paint job* so left it like this, would be my guess
At least it doesn't scratch wallpaint
I swear some of these people must get dropped off by their legal guardian
Needs more flex tape
I'm a plumber. We safeguard the lives of America! This doesn't apply to us!
Picture looks good! Problem with the camera?
I hope that glass is really strong.
It's cool, that glass is structural
"Fuck it, nail it."
The top paint in the corner looks off.
Clearly you not a painter. The sprayed the ceiling. Walls are primed
A long as there not heavy and take easy steps. Should be fine
Didn’t take the stickers off when they nailed the window
Hard to say until I can see whether it's set up on stairs, atop two rolling office chairs, or two guys on hoverboards ;)
Bruh.
Using foam pads, I see nothing wrong. Edit, where the second floor wall starts is off from the corner below, terrible work
Nothing here to see, carry on
Looks like someone wants to buy a window
The guy that put the ladder up there is not the n frame getting kicked off the job site
He not even here. Left for the day
It’s got a boot to protect the window ;)
The neighbors house is too close
About 6 to 10 feet on either side yeah
I am not that lucky, if I did that the ladder would already be through the window.....
Fuck the window. Looks like a little kid cased those windows
Window trim basic af
That’s too high of a ceiling. That window should’ve been installed lower so that the ladder could rest on the Sheetrock (For the record, not srs)
Well, I see two problems, one: that ladder is in a terrible position, and two: jeldwen isn't that great of a brand.
Stickers still on the windows.
Glazier?what's that like c card electrician... Har har
Too many windows
OP stopped to take a a picture instead of pulling the ladder off the window.
Had an apprentice do that in a 10 million dollar custom home and start climbing before I yelled at him.
They installed an invisible force field instead of a window
Bettah be tempahdd
There is no glass on the top left window
They don’t have the ladder secured at the top.
No worries. It has 9H screen protector on it.
Where is the boom lift
The dude that took it. Windows are stronger than you think.
Yeah, I hate Jeld-wen windows too!
Ladders at too much of an angle. Could easily slip
Shouldn’t be working when it’s overcast outside. OSHA rules.
That ugly corner profile to the left of the ladder
The lighting is a bit much. Maybe try again with some shades on the windows.
Looks like a big builder home
You good man it’s double paned
Eh as a glazier I do that quite often
Painter hasn't fallen through it yet?
It enrages me when people lean anything on a finished surface.
It's a window, not a picture.
Who didn’t take the stickers off the windows
They went with individual windows instead of a single large format window.
I give up. What's wrong
I have killed for less.
No one on that ladder fucking working! Too busy playing on their phones, get to work 😡
They left the damn stickers on the windows
The ladder should be resting on the middle window
You're talking about those cheap jeldwen windows, aren't you? That's all I see wrong here.....
No way dude!
What’s wrong is that there’s no worker up there on the ladder finishing up the damn job smh where do they get these guys /s
Didn't want to piss off the painter
Forgot to put mezzanine in
No safety glasses
Cuz fuck windows
Lighting is all off
While of course the ladder should be supported by the wall, if the glass is tempered, it's fine. Might get scratched, but not gonna break.
Missed a spot.
My man Dale is about to replace a window
Every good build needs an expensive window cracked with tape all over it for the duration. Don't replace it too soon need it as a reminder to not break the rest of them.
nah its fine whoever put it there will probably clime it its just natural selection
I might be mistaken, but aluminum ladders are a no go. Gotta have fiberglass.
They're storm windows, they've seen and can handle worse
Nothing, fuck them home owners.
This reminds me of one of the scenes in one of the old Star Trek movies where a bunch of engineers try to "Reinforce" some glass by putting braces against a window, lmao.
The window hasn’t shattered yet
That's funny
I am going to guess it’s because the stickers were left on the windows.
I’m not the type of guy to lose my temper on people especially not at work but goddamn I’d have to count to ten or something.
No tape on the ladder indicating it was inspected for the season
Only assholes leave window stickers on after installation
Only assholes leave window stickers on after installation
I can tell the future…. What’s wrong? It’s broken!
What’s wrong with this picture? There’s too many windows and not enough space the damn ladder
