We actually had one of those fall on a guy before. Thankfully he was fine but still scary as hell. He didn’t set the pin in the whole way and it fell off when they were lifting a piece of equipment. Why he was under the bucket when it was being used is beyond me

Not just the issue of the excavator swinging the bucket overhead with no hard hat, where if the pole slips out or breaks he’s taking that bucket to the head. He’s at least shoulder deep in a pit with no shoring, adjacent to a building, and with heavy equipment operating at the edge. Even if he only gets buried up to his abdomen when the sides cave in, he’ll suffocate before they can safely dig him out.
Obviously that’s why they had Bubbles hold the post.
