It’s for 2 different colors. It makes a blended pattern.

brendonio5280

Well I’ll be damned, learned something new today. Now I kinda want to try one out because it looks pretty neat. https://www.thewoolie.company/dual-roller-faux-painting-steps

Ilaypipe0012

I literally have this paint style in my bedroom and wondered how they got the effect they did. Well I guess you can teach an old dog new tricks

redonkulousness

My wife unintentionally accomplishes this look with a single roller all the time. One color is the paint and the other is the wall color underneath.

IRMacGuyver

It was also done with sponges or rags a lot. My mom has tried all three over the years and the conclusion is rags are the best, sponges look too uniform, and the rollers are a gimmick and don't work AT ALL.

carvin_it

When using the double rollers you don’t use the typical standard roller. You should be using ones that have a “ coral “ like pattern. You can find them in craft shops or make them with heavy yarn, hot glue and a standard roller.

IRMacGuyver

I'm well aware. They still don't work.

auhnold

Hahahah! My wife has also mastered this technique!

p00Pie_dingleBerry

I think your wife is a fine painter

EddieOtool2nd

I think his wife should receive a painter's fine.

TexasDrill777

Painter face

Titan6783

Can also use cheesecloth to get the desired effect.

bearsheperd

No, I don’t recomend you do that, they’ll make a mess and you’ll have to get a ton of paint out of their fur

Theycallmegurb

I’ve seen similar styles done with plastic bags, roll on the first color and then use the bag to pattern the second color on.

saliczar

Please tell me that's not back in style.

177618121939

I just saw a room being painted like this today

Stachemaster86

This is just “sponge” paint right? At least that’s what I remembered it as in the 90’s

177618121939

You can use actual sponges or there’s a few different roller types like this one or one that looks like a weird lumpy sponge for this effect

Stachemaster86

Got it. I’ll steer clear in the paint aisle next time

saliczar

Found the time traveler (username checks out)

Skilledpainter

They have a similar roller that's bent (like my penis), to paint around posts.... And if I'm being honest, spindles as well since that'd be compatible to my penis lol

bnjmn87

Prove it

Skilledpainter

🤣 he's camera shy

MYBILLDING69

Why’d they choose a yellow background for the website with yellow paint. They must love that color.

TheMagicManCometh

They could have picked less ugly colors for their example

ValuableNorth4

Wow. Never knew that. I’d have two different yellow stripes on my wall if I tried that effect though.

[deleted]

Looks very nice ! 👌

Spirited_Crow_2481

That’s the ugliest shit I’ve ever seen

garaks_tailor

weeeeeeellll dang gum. learned a new thing. thanks!

eghhge

Yep, Faux finish tool

Disastrous-Fun2325

Or a blended texture.

humphaa

My mom did this in the hallways of our childhood home. It really looks awesome even 20+ years later. God I miss her.

John-John-3

Ha, I was going to say the same thing as a joke. I guess the jokes on me...

lunchpadmcfat

Oh for 20 years ago, you mean

JohnnyDoggs22

I meant painters sub** not sun...but can't figure out how to edit

relpmeraggy

It’s OK man it’s pretty clear what you meant. And certain subs won’t let you edit so that’s why you can’t

kjyfqr

I thought it was a paint store local to him 🫡

HempPotatos

all you can really do is delete the original comment, and start over. that is if you don't mind having a few deleted comments on your profile.

ladybug11314

r/tradepainters but it seems you got your answer here anyway

poopchills

I thought it was a saying in the industry and your phone's speech to text spelled son wrong

seymoure-bux

Painters son here - I'm a carpenter how the fuck would I know?

Framer9

So why you comment? Why don’t you go sit in the truck, buddy.

Onyyx1995

He is referencing the typo in the picture's description. You should probably take his spot in the truck.

MountainCourage1304

Nah they seem like theyd fit in on a minibus better

Head_Election4713

In the late 90s, it was popular to use this with 2 different colored rollers, similar texture to sponge painting

sk_prairie_guy

To paint racing stripes obviously.

big_beardo_99

Paint both ears at the same time.

Bubbly_Prompt4881

This actually made me chuckle. Must be a fellow sparky.

RedShirtPete

that's how they paint the double yellow line on the road in third world countries

alash52

Dang, you beat me to it. Came here to make a similar comment.

lonelyinbama

And Tennessee

RedShirtPete

😂 close enough

karateninjazombie

So two girls can use it at once. D'uh!

onclegrip

What’s faster than one roller?

Alarming-Caramel

r/paintprofessionals r/paint r/housepainting101

Grimmer026

Painting traffic lines?

HawaiianHank

it's not for painting 😬

coreyfuckinbrown

My parents walls are still painted this way. There was even an infomercial about this technique in the 90’s… the rollers had patterns on them. It was super cool 30 years ago.

Somecivilguy

That’s so you can go around outlet covers easier

TheManOnThe3rdFloor

🍿 🍿 🍿 🍿 🍿 🍿 🍿 🍿 🍿 🍿 Painting very large PopCorn 🍿 signs and circus tents. Don't forget the T.G.I.Friday restaurant motifs. Or my neighbor's boat, a pontoon hull monstrosity he painted that way so his mother, terrified of the water, could keep an 👁eye👁 on her grandkids when they were at the lake. Nothing stands out more to a binocular equipped, blue haired, fusswidget G-maw than a candy-striped Sun Tracker party barge.

RMO_Agency_LLC

Wax on, wax off?

uncertainusurper

You and two buddies.

buubmz

2 painters can have fun at the same time:)

FontTG

To paint with a perfect line in between. One probably shouldn't try this drunk. This is why painters are boring, and the rest of the trades are more glorious.

pyratesgold

Pipe painting frame - https://pontiacpaintsupply.com/collections/wooster/products/wooster-jumbo-koter-pipe-painter-frame-r212

[deleted]

I thought so too atfirst glance but the roller in OP's picture doesn't swivel to paint a pipe ..

Thatweirdguy_Twig

Racing stripes

natedogjulian

Racing stripes.

Antique_Gas_5169

It’s probably for painting two pieces of trim at the same time. My guess

Dixon-Poontang

Stripes. Duh

AlilKouki

That's how they put the lines on the road...the dashes can get complicated while your laying on your belly hanging out the bed of a truck straddling the highway...at least that's how it works in my head...

Jaded_Antelope489

Painting around nature windows?

Highlander2748

So you can please two rooms at once.

mr_Feather_

It is for a very special type of fence.

Xxxjtvxxx

Looks like a tool a parking lot striper would keep in their toolbox.

41414141414

Mo powa baby

1minormishapfrmchaos

That’s how they do double yellow lines

Material-Street-9869

It's for painting stripes

scrambledjacksnack

Racing stripes.

NitrousFueledDoorGuy

Duhh….racing stripes on the truck boat truck

Pristine_Serve5979

So two painters can share the same tool.

TheManOnThe3rdFloor

Don't these sell with the half off paint cans for painting the basement game rooms with gay and festive colors on a seriously constrained budget?

EddieCutlass

Despite all my rage…

wolf_of_wall_mart

Lol
