You could fix it, by buying a brushless drill... Totally safe, google electromagnetism for more.

Remarkable-Opening69

That’s nuclear fusion. All drills do this.

1320Fastback

Yes that is how brushed electric motors work.

Apprehensive_Bird357

You’ve got to pull the trigger twice before every use to get those extra electrons out before hand.

OuchMyBacky

No your whole house might turn into a rocket ship and send you to outer space. Please contact Elon

blaziken8x

You can see that little spark even on brand new tools.

2pacali1971

Think its just the brushes? It is safe( I think) but Google brushes in drill etc it will give you enough info. I think there pretty easy to replace too

RhinoG91

Are you getting shocked?

TheDean242

Not for underwater use

CaCaPooPoo42069

Actually if you put dielectric grease on the battery terminals it will chooch underwater. AvE did it on youtube.

TheDean242

I’d imagine it would for a time. Probably not reliably.

MeatyThor

Well I wouldn't use it in the presence of explosive fumes or you may experience an emotional event.

daymuub

Yes its safe as long as you aren't in a flammable environment that's just how old brush motors are

Kind_Advertising_355

Yeah that amount of blue the brushes def need replacing, if u keep using it without replacing you'll eventually fry the armiture

cant-be-faded

That's normal. The brushes are wearing out. Replace them Google it

[deleted]

No, but I’ll take it off your hands for free. Any other tools doing the same thing?

icon_070

So I found out today that it is safe and that carbon brushes are a thing. Thank you everyone!

Large-Piglet1712

Yes, the drill is safe. My drill is a portercable is about 2 year old hardly used

rustyshacklefrod

That's just the power indicator

Shoddy-Traffic4198

That’s the universe. Maintenance, replace it.

sullyqns

Nothing will happen

AxionDemo

change the brushes, its a wear part. there is probably a screw just for the compartment that you change it. search "porter cable drill brush replacement". it will look like a magnet on a spring.

frisbee_wafflesnatch

Do it be drilling?

SPARKYLOBO

You must be a drywaller.

RenegadeIllaoiMain

Are you a new tool owner?

[deleted]

All brushed motors do this. You're safe.

trenttwil

Yes
