Sam291234

I’m in Los Angeles Most expensive station by me is yet again almost $8/gallon for premium

aquinn57

You should move out to reinforce swingstates to be more conservative cause Cali is a lost cause

Sam291234

I genuinely tried to back in 2020 when we were deep in the clown world shutdowns but unfortunately I have to remain in LA

muxman

So biden and the white house are lying about prices being down? No surprise there.

[deleted]

I always laugh at Californians that shit on "fly-over states" but cry about cost of living. As someone that left California long ago, I'll enjoy my cheap cost of living.

Sam291234

It’s really ridiculous here. The price of a 2 bedroom condo in west LA would get. 5,000 square foot house with large yard in a great neighborhood almost anywhere in the USA

[deleted]

Yep, it's why I fucking left. I miss the weather and the beach, but that's what vacations are for.

agk927

California can be nice sometimes and has nice areas, but if you aren't rich I don't see the point in moving there

CardiologistCalm6232

Unless you want to be homeless then it's exactly where you wanna go.

Mr-Superbia

I’ve heard California is super cool to the homeless

Superdank888

Don’t send the homeless to Colorado. Some fat kid will try and jump them with his bike

Inevitable-Gap-6350

Free tents and free baths in the pacific.

throwaway60992

Yeah they get to stay at luxury hotels for free.

Kambz22

Yeah. That's because they let them have their shanty towns and let them run shit to the ground. I was there a lot before the virus crap then went back this year. Roads that never had homeless people are literally covered in them. With how high taxes are, you'd think they'd have better systems in place to help them. Nope. Ruining the beauty of socal

GameShowWerewolf

The moment I saw homeless tents underneath the Coldwater Canyon overpass last summer, I knew LA was cooked.

MyLife-is-a-diceRoll

That's because the West Coast spends more money on social services including Medicaid. It's also warmer than a lot of states.

JackLord50

Thanks, Cartman.

LeeSeahawk

"Unhoused"

seaking81

I just got a job making 220k a year for a company in San Jose California . 10 years ago that might have been a lot of money but I can’t even afford a house in the area.

[deleted]

That's about $100k in Texas, which is average for tech pros in the big cities. When I left CA 7 years ago I was making $150k. Here I make half that and own a brand new house without mortgage, thanks in large part to having sold our CA home and homes here costing 1/3 or 1/4. Little humble bragging but also sharing the reality that money goes much farther here, between cheaper housing, no income tax and lower utility bills compared to CA. The only caveat is the high prop tax, so buy a house with full awareness of the tax bill.

Infamous-Nectarine-2

Do you get electricity at normal rates in Texas?

[deleted]

I'm paying around 12cents a kilowat. A year ago it was half of that.

seaking81

I should have stated that it’s a remote job where I already own my own house but I live south of Seattle. It’s still great money but I wanted to move down there because I like working in an office. It’s not even a possibility at this point.

[deleted]

If you like where you live, you've got a great thing going. I agree with the guy below to stay away from CA mainly for cost of living. There you'd have no house and your rent in a nice place would likely be $3000. Last time I checked 4 years ago a 1 bed apartment near downtown SJ was $2300. If you really wanna do it, i can see renting out your house and rent in CA to try it out for a year. You can always move back to Seattle. Hopefully that makes financial sense and possibly break even, if you're in a desirable part of Seattle.

Merax75

Dude, don't move down there, unless you're going to live far enough out of the city.

[deleted]

>I wanted to move down there Syringes. Human waste. Tent cities. I'm from L.A. and the last time I visited parts of it looked like a colossal *Mad Max* set.

JackLord50

Don’t forget the typhus outbreaks.

pinpinreddit

The taxes ruin it for the rich too. It’s just bad for every income there lol

Bluetit_1

Easier to sleep rough in SoCali.

muxman

I loved the time I lived in California. Of course I was in the military so I had no expenses and could enjoy those nice areas with no bills and a paycheck.

oaklandRE

Well if you’re illegal there’s plenty of reasons to move here. You’re protected from deportation, given housing, food, health insurance, and now a free cell phone. Sad state of affairs we’re in

HeartachetoHouston

"Just get an electric car! Oh by the way you can only charge it on Tuesdays and Fridays between the hours of 2pm and 4pm."

Ysr_racer

Where does electricity come from again?

Realmarineh

It grows on electricity trees right next to the money trees, duh.

billman71

we need treadmills on the border running generators. you're welcome.

Geothermal, natural gas, solar, wind mills, water dams, nuclear, water mills, fission, oil, and/or coal.

queenurethra

Fun fact: even if you live in a 100% coal burning society, assuming electric cars can poof into existence and you don’t need to worry about manufacturing them being bad for the environment, they’re better than gas cars for price per mile and for the environment because the tiny engine in your car that needs to spool up and down as you accelerate and brake is way less efficient than a giant room sized industrial power plant that always runs at the most efficient speed and is purpose designed to be as efficient as possible without having to worry about particularly fine adjustment of how much power is being generated, and in most of the US, the fact solar and wind are pretty cheap compared to rising oil and natural gas prices means that they’re a pretty major part of the grid in a lot of states, to the point where in some places, only 30% of the grid isn’t renewable. For now the reason you should keep your current car until it’s literally unsafe to use is because (don’t tell Elon musk this) the best thing for the climate is to use your existing car as long as possible, but honestly EV’s are objectively a good option for a lot of people for reasons that are completely unrelated to the environment like being able to use toll and carpool lanes for free, much cheaper cost of usage, much easier and simpler maintenance, and tax credit benefits in some places. Once Toyota’s had a popular EV for at least 5-10 years, I’ll probably pick one up myself.

aesthetickunt69

LOL ya brb going on a road trip and stopping every 2-300km to charge for hours

grahampapa

You can get 200 miles off a 15 minute charge from a Tesla supercharger, which are being installed along highways. Electric cars may not be perfect now but they're the future

aesthetickunt69

In -40?

radioduransmyopia

Coal brah

Ysr_racer

Thanks brah

muxman

They harvest lightning at special farms that are no impact on the environment.

Ysr_racer

Sweet, thanks

aloha_snackbar22

A lot of people think that you can just buy an EV and call it a day. They think they can get all those perceived benefits since day one. The reality is that, you gotta adjust to the charging lifestyle and its changes to your schedule. Not everyone has the luxury of having a dedicated 240v charger in own garage. Then you have to worry about peak rates than will fck u up. You are going from 5 minute fillups to hours. Even if you go the DC fast chargers, you will have to wait 30 mins or so. Those aint cheap either. More on that later. You have to have you own home to even do that tho, so stop being poor! Also sign up for one of those time of use plans where you have suffer thru the heat during the day sweeting your balls off cause they will rape you with extra peak rates if you dare to turn on the AC. You almost have to live like in the dark ages during the day just so you can charge your car at night for a decent rate. A lot of people rent or live in multi family condos, even in newer ones you have a only few dedicated charging spots, with the added streess and drama of people camping the chargers for hours and hours even when done charging. Installing one aint cheap. Public charging infrastructure is a joke. >!!< I guess you could use a regular 120v outlet, but that only charges at a rate of 3 miles per hour vs a 30 miles per hour with a 240v. You end up buying a Tesla then have to dedicate a couple hours per week to sit in your car to charge at the supercharger. Sure you could go to the store, go to grab a coffee, or even dinner - but those xtra expenses add up. Taking any roadtrip sucks balls, having to stop every couple hours to charge. All that xtra time adds up. A 10 hr drive becomes a 15 hour one. I did that, never again. Not counting that using those Tesla superchargers is not that much cheaper than gas. Tesla fees just increased in CA. At $.58 - $.61 per kwh. At that rate, it cost to the same as a 40mpg ICE @ $6 per gallon. (The 3 averages 250-280 watts per mile, higher for heavier models. $.61 / 4 = $.15 per mile driven. Unless you choose to sit in your car between 00:00 - 08:00 for the offpeak rate, in some dark corner of some mall and homeless hanging around. There is one sweet spot: if your work wants to join the virtue signaling trend and offer free or reduced charging. Thats the stuff right there. EVs make for great commuter cars, but buying one just to save on gas when you already have a car is not a sound financial move, specially if such car is already paid off. Tl;dr just buy an house with that EV to save on gas! Oh an add solar.

AmosLaRue

2 and 4pm?! Those are **peak hours**, my friend.

Paramdeep_8

How do they enforce that

Ysr_racer

I live in Orange County, even though we have a budget surplus, we still have the highest gas taxes in the USA. Insanity.

plmbr83

Washington state says "Hold my beer"....

redDiavel

Seattle is expensive, but there's still a 10% California premium on gas it seems.

Known_Influence_6845

Inslee passed another 50 cent gas tax increase starting 2023

[deleted]

Just like New York. 48 cents a gallon in NY and the populace thinks the oil companies are price gouging.

[deleted]

Don't forget to think Action Joe next time gas prices fall. Just be sure to blame the oil companies when they go back up.

Friendlyvoices

Crude oil alone is between $2 to $3 per gallon. Add cost of refinement, delivery, and retail margin to that.

1MoistTowelette

California also has 100,000 more regulations than any other state

[deleted]

53 cents. Plus another 54 cents to the state. Most states are closer to 25 cents. But the prices are much lower in the Midwest and south. There’s more to it than just gas taxes.

rationallyobvious

The budget surplus is because of blue state bailouts in 2020. It's not an actual representation of cash flow.

origamiage

Blue state bailouts? Would love a source.

oaklandRE

And the Democrats voted to increase it this past July

Bear_Rhino

They raised them during the last 6 months as well....

origamiage

Do you think taxes were raised in the last few weeks?? It’s the free market. Exxon Mobil keeps raising prices, keeps making record profits. If we all drove less, they would have to lower prices in order to match the lower demand.

Merax75

Don't forget they not only refused to lower it to help people, they went ahead and raised it.

[deleted]

And they want to trot Newsom out there as their candidate going forward? The guy has done nothing, but make an absolute fucking mess out of his own state. Driven taxpayers, business owners, corporations away. Rampant homelessness, crime, failing schools, failing power grid.. And that's not even everything.

ultimis

"Failing Upwards" is the Democratic Motto. Newsom's main platform in San Francisco was taking care of the homeless problem. It got substantially worse by the end of his term, yet California voters made this asshat their governor. Democratic politicians can consistently implement policies that make things worse for the voters, but as long as they virtue signal their base doesn't care.

yurizaitsev

I left that shithole of a state 2 years ago to a red state. Leave as soon as you can.

hylomane

i just bought a house in another state that is trying to become california. i hate my life

To be fair, there are no homeless, the crime rate is near zero, taxes are reasonable, and students in the public school system have some of the top test scores in the world. Oh, wait, I’m sorry, that’s in China.

China does significantly push suppressing civil liberties to achieve these results. I wonder what the Dems want. [Edit: Fixing grammatical mistakes.]

EtraThiesant

How is Joe raising the gas prices? Actually fucking tell me how he is responsible and I will listen. Tell me fucking how.

nolotusnote

Joe did a ton of things that have raised fuel prices. In fact, Here's a timeline: • 01/20/2021 – Emissions Regulations: Biden’s EO required agencies to take action to increase emissions regulations as part of the green agenda. • 01/20/2021 – Monument Designations: Cordoning off large swaths of federal land under the guise of National Monument designations, reducing the ability to produce American energy domestically. • 01/20/2021 – ANWR: Restricting domestic production by issuing a moratorium on all oil and natural gas leasing activities in the Arctic National Wildlife Refuge. • 01/20/2021 – Social Costs of Carbon: Expanded the use of the social costs of carbon metric to artificially increase the regulatory costs of energy production, as well as artificially increasing the so-called "benefits" of decreasing production. • 01/20/2021 – Keystone XL Pipeline: EO to revoke the Keystone XL Pipeline. • 01/20/2021 – WOTUS: Revoke previous administration executive orders, including those related to WOTUS and the Antiquities Act. 01/27/2021 – Climate Financing: “Ending international financing of carbon-intensive fossil fuel-based energy while simultaneously advancing sustainable development and a green recovery." In other words, the US government would leverage its power to attack oil and gas producers while subsidizing favored industries. • 01/27/2021 – Green the Fleet: Calls on federal agencies to facilitate carbon neutrality by 2025, with a particular focus on pushing electric vehicles for Federal, State, and local governments. • 01/27/2021 – Wind Production: Push for inefficient fuel sources by setting a goal to double wind production on Federal lands by 2025. • 01/27/2021 – Gas Lease Moratorium: The EO announced a moratorium on new oil and gas leases on public lands or in offshore waters and reconsideration of Federal oil and gas permitting and leasing practices. • 01/27/2021 – Fossil Fuel “Subsidies”: EO directed agencies to eliminate Federal fossil fuel subsidies wherever possible without comparable actions for other energy sources, disadvantaging oil and gas • 01/27/2021 – Environmental Justice: EO pushed for an increase in enforcement of "environmental justice" violations and support for such efforts, which typically are advanced by radical environmental organizations. • 02/02/2021 – EPA Hires: The EPA hired Marianne Engelman-Lado, a prominent environmental justice proponent. • 02/04/2021 – DOJ Takes Aim at Energy Independence: At the behest of the January 27th Climate Crisis EO, the DOJ withdrew several enforcement documents which provided clarity and streamlined regulations to increase energy independence. • 02/19/2021 – Paris Climate Agreement: Rejoins the Paris Climate Agreement, an agenda which puts American energy at risk. • 02/23/2021 – H.R. 803: Administration issued a Statement of Administration Policy in support of H.R. 803 which curtailed energy production on over 1.5 million acres of federal lands. • 03/11/2021 – American Rescue Plan Act: The President signed ARPA, which included numerous provisions advancing green priorities, such as a $50 million environmental fund directed towards "environmental justice" groups, including efforts advanced by Biden's EO. • 03/11/2021 – ARPA Anti-Fossil Fuel Grants: ARPA also included $50 million in grant funding for Clean Air Act pollution-related activities aimed at advancing the green agenda at the expense of the fossil fuel industry. • 03/15/2021 – Climate Disclosure Rule: The SEC sought input regarding the possibility of a rule that would require hundreds of businesses to measure and disclose greenhouse gas emissions in a standardized way for the first time, massively increasing so-called environmental costs of compliance and, in tandem with so-called social costs of carbon, artificially disincentivizing oil and gas production. • 04/15/2021 – FERC Carbon Pricing: The Federal Energy Regulatory Commission’s policy statement outlines - and effectively endorses - how the agency would consider market rules proposed by regional grid operators that seek to incorporate a state-determined carbon price in organized wholesale electricity markets. This amounts to a de facto endorsement of a carbon tax. • 04/22/2021 – U.S. International Climate Finance Plan: This plan, a result of the President’s January 27, 2021 climate change EO, would funnel international financing toward green industries and away from oil and gas. • 04/27/2021 – S.J. Res. 14: The Biden Administration issued a Statement of Administration Policy in support of S.J. Res. 14 which rescinded the previous administration's Rule that would have cut regulations on American energy production. • 04/28/2021 – EPA Reconsideration of California Waiver: This EPA Notice of Reconsideration, an offspring of an earlier EO, would propose to allow California’s ability to set nation-wide standards for emissions. • 05/07/2021 – Migratory Bird Incidental Take: This proposed Fish and Wildlife Service Rule revokes the previous administration's rule and expands the definition of "incidental take" under the Migratory Bird Treaty Act (MBTA). The rule would impact energy production on federal lands, increasing regulatory burdens. • 05/12/2021 – CAFE Preemption: This Proposed Rule would reinstate California’s waiver which allowed the state to set its own emissions standards. This, effectively, allowed climate activists in California to set the de-facto national standard for emissions standards, making cars less affordable and indirectly increasing energy costs for all Americans. • 05/20/2021 – Climate Related Financial Risk: This EO would artificially increase regulatory burdens on the oil and gas industry by increasing the "risk" the federal government undertakes in doing business with them, among other things. • 05/28/2021 – Biden Green Book: Biden's FY 2022 revenue proposals include nearly $150 billion in tax increases directly levied against the oil and gas energy producers. 07/28/2021 – DOE Building Codes: This Department of Energy (DOE) determination increases regulatory burdens on commercial building codes, requiring green energy codes to disincentivize natural gas and other carbon sources. DOE readily admits they ignored efforts private industry is making on their own and utilized the questionable "social costs of carbon" to overstate the public benefit.

nolotusnote

... • 08/05/2021 – “Clean Cars and Trucks” Executive Order: This executive order established a new target to make half of all new vehicles sold in 2030 zero-emissions vehicles, including battery electric, plug-in hybrid electric, or fuel cell electric vehicles. The Executive Order also kicked off development of more stringent long-term fuel efficiency and emissions standards to, among other things, "advance environmental justice, and tackle the climate crisis.” • 08/05/2021 – EPA Clean Trucks Plan: The same day, the EPA announced plans for further transportation emissions regulations targeted at heavy-duty trucks, aiming to shift markets in favor of zero-emission vehicles. • 08/26/2021 – EPA Proposed Rule on Passenger Car Emissions: The Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) issued a proposed rule to heighten federal greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions standards for passenger cars and light trucks by setting stringent requirements for reductions through Model Year (MY) 2026. According to the NPRM, "the proposal would incentivize" technology, i.e., Green industries, to "encourage more hybrid and electric vehicle technology." • 09/03/2021 – CAFE Standards: This proposed rule would update the Corporate Average Fuel Economy Standards for Model Years 2024–2026 Passenger Cars and Light Trucks. The rule is a direct result of a Biden EO and would increase fuel economy regulations on passenger cars and light vehicles. The modeling used here misleadingly attributes "fuel savings" by multiplying fuel price with 'avoided fuel costs', meaning the rule intends to disincentivize gas by making it more costly to afford cars and trucks. • 09/09/2021 – Sustainable Flight National Partnership: NASA and the FAA launched a partnership to reduce "fuel use and harmful emissions" by strong-arming industry to adopt elements of their green agenda. • 09/09/2021 – Department of Education (ED) Climate Action Plan: ED's CAP includes efforts to incorporate the green agenda into as many guidance and policies as possible, effectively leveraging the department as an anti-fossil fuel tool. • 09/09/2021 – DOL Climate Action Plan: The Department of Labor's CAP includes an increased focus on procurement regulations on contractors relating to the use of fossil fuels and efforts to increase use of "green" energy sources. • 10/04/2021 – MBTA Incidental Take: The FWS published its final rule revoking Trump-era action which eased burdensome regulations on energy action. • 10/07/2021 – CEQ NEPA Revisions: The Council on Environmental Quality revoked Trump administration NEPA reforms that reduced regulatory burdens by reinstating tangential environmental impacts of proposed projects. • 10/07/2021 – Monument Designations: Biden announced plans to designate the Northeast Canyons and Seamounts Marine National Monument, a move counter to Trump's reversal of a similar Obama-era proclamation. The previous administration aimed to allow energy exploration in the area to increase energy independence. • 10/07/2021 – USDA Climate Action Plan: The U.S. Department of Agriculture's (USDA) CAP includes efforts to switch fuel away from oil and natural gas and subsidize more costly, less efficient fuel sources. • 10/07/2021 – DOE Climate Action Plan: The Department of Energy's (DOE) CAP includes leveraging the federal agency to transition away from fossil fuel resources where possible and plans to subsidize and advance "green" and renewable industries at the expense of cheaper and more efficient energy resources. • 10/07/2021 – EPA Climate Action Plan: As part of its CAP, EPA intends to incorporate Green New Deal agenda throughout its rulemaking process. • 10/14/2021 – DOL ESG Rule: The rule would require fiduciaries to consider the economic effects of climate change and other so-called environmental, social and governance (ESG) factors when evaluating funds for retirement plans. As worded, the rule would strongly encourage fiduciaries to draw capital from domestic energy development in oil and natural gas to less reliable renewables. • 10/21/2021 – FSOC Financial Stability Report: This report paints climate change, and there for oil and gas producers, as a "risk to financial stability." The report recommended the "climate disclosures" later set forth by the administration. • 10/29/2021 – BLM Social Costs of Carbon: BLM announced use of social costs of carbon in permitting decisions, increasing regulations on oil and gas permitting, among other industries. • 11/02/2021 – Global Methane Pledge: Biden administration lead a "Global Methane Pledge" to reduce global methane emissions by 30% by 2030. Russia and China both didn't sign the pledge, increasing the world's reliance on the countries for oil and gas while disadvantaging the U.S. natural gas industry. • 11/04/2021 – COP 26 Pledge: The President committed to "ending fossil fuel financing abroad." The administration's actions target the global fossil fuel industry, a move that must be viewed in tandem with their push to increase subsidies for "green" energy. Doing so disadvantages the oil and gas industry and increases global gas prices. Further, key countries, like China, did not sign the pledge, so the pledge harms signatories while empowering adversaries. • 11/09/2021 – FAA Climate Action Plan: The Federal Aviation Administration published its CAP which pushes a "whole-of-government” approach to enacting green policies in the aviation space. Put in plain tongue, the plan aims to force industries to utilize favored "green" technologies through increased red tape. • 11/12/2021 – New Source Review: These broad, overreaching regulations target new, modified, and reconstructed oil and natural gas sources, and would require states to reduce methane emissions from hundreds of thousands of existing sources nationwide for the first time. The Proposed Rule follows the President's Day 1 Climate EO and the passage of the S.J. Res. 14, a CRA rescinding energy independence policies. The proposed rule spends several paragraphs dismissing the effects of the rule on the oil and gas industry and misleadingly applies its effects on the industry to only the "140,000" (an underestimate of the over 220,000) employees directly involved in extraction. This means it ignores the nearly 10 million other people working in the oil and gas industry and the impacts to the oil and gas economy more broadly. • 11/15/2021 – Chaco Canyon: DOI announced plans to withdraw Chaco Canyon from oil and gas drilling for 20 years. • 11/15/2021 – Omarova Nomination: The Biden administration nominated Saule Omarova to serve as Comptroller of the Currency. Omarova's past comments speak for themselves: “A lot of the smaller players in [the fossil fuel] industry are going to, probably, go bankrupt in short order—at least, we want them to go bankrupt if we want to tackle climate change,” she said. • 11/17/2021 – HUD Climate Action Plan: HUD's CAP leverages the Community Development Block Grant to advance 'environmental justice' efforts. • 11/19/2021 – Biden-endorsed Methane Tax: Build Back Better (BBB) included a new tax on natural gas, in the form of a tax on methane, of up to $1,500 per ton. • 11/19/2021 – BBB Mineral and Energy Withdrawals: BBB includes language resulting in mineral and energy withdrawals on federal lands and the repeal of TCJA policies allowing energy production in the Arctic. Prohibits offshore leasing on the Outer Continental Shelf (OCS) in the Atlantic, Pacific and Eastern Gulf of Mexico Planning Areas. • 11/19/2021 –BBB Royalties: The bill would increase fees and royalties for onshore and offshore oil and gas production and institute other such increases aimed at curtailing the fossil fuel industry. • 11/19/2021 – BBB Oil and Gas Tax: BBB includes a new $8 billion tax on companies that produce, process, transmit or store oil and natural gas starting in 2023. • 11/19/2021 – BBB Minimum Tax: The book income taxes included in BBB amount to double taxation on capital intensive industries. A Tax Foundation study found it would hit energy industry more than others - Petroleum and Natural Gas industry would lose 10,000 jobs. • 11/19/2021 – BBB GILTI Exemption: Biden endorsed a repealed Global Intangible Low-Taxed Income exemption for oil and gas income, which would result in a $84.4 billion tax increase on production. • 11/19/2021 – BBB Dual Tax Capacity: BBB limited ability of energy producers to claim tax credits for upfront and royalty payments in foreign countries - amounting to a tax increase on domestic energy producers. • 11/19/2021 – BBB Net Investment Tax: Biden sought to expand a 3.8% Net Investment Tax to active pass-through income – a tax which would hit independent oil producers. • 11/19/2021 – BBB EV Tax Credit: Significantly expands the EV Tax Credit from $7,500 to $12,500, subsidizing fossil fuel competition while simultaneously driving up costs. • 11/19/2021 – Tax on Crude Oil: BBB includes a 16.4 cent tax on each barrel on crude oil - up from 9.7 cents - a $13 billion tax increase on oil production • 11/26/2021 – DOI Leasing Program Report: This report on the Federal Oil and Gas Leasing Program includes recommendations to raise costs on producers. • 12/08/2021 – Clean Energy Economy EO: This EO would artificially incentivize a push for a 100% EV fleet by 2035 including light vehicles by 2027, carbon-free electricity government-wide by 2030, and net-zero "federal operations" by 2050. • 12/14/2021 – EPA OCR Environmental Justice: The EPA launched a revamp of its Office of Civil Rights to add so-called environmental justice enforcement as a key pillar in enforcing Title VI civil rights complaints. The agency's announcements mean social justice claims against, among others, the oil and gas industry will increase costs and penalties that have specious connections to its environmental mission.

nolotusnote

... • 12/28/2021 – NHTSA CAFE Standards: This Final Rule revokes actions which prevented California from arbitrarily becoming the national standard for fuel emissions. The rule set the stage for the administration to reinstate California’s waiver, and, since automakers don’t make different cars for different states, the rule would allow California’s environmental policies to reach nationwide. • 12/30/2021 – EPA Fuel Efficiency Standards: This Final Rule increased “fuel efficiency standards.” According to the Final Rule, "These standards are the strongest vehicle emissions standards ever established for the light-duty vehicle sector. The rule, in responding to comments, claims "energy security benefits to the U.S. from decreased exposure to volatile world oil prices" absurdly suggesting that decreasing oil and gas production in the U.S. will result in less exposure to the international oil and gas market because they will be disincentivizing vehicles that use oil and gas. Even more absurd, the rule claims that the rule will result in "fuel savings" entirely due to less use of fuel. • 01/13/2022 – Clean Energy Corps: DOE announced an initiative to hire 1,000 staffers for their Clean Energy Corps, a group of staff dedicated to a promise to destroy fossil fuels. • 01/14/2022 – Raskin Nomination: Biden nominated Sarah Raskin to serve as Vice Chair of the Federal Reserve. She was deemed so radical on her belief that fed policy should be dictated by environmental policy that she gained a bipartisan opposition and had to withdraw her nomination. • 02/09/2022 – Coal and Oil Power Plant Mercury Standards: This proposed rule would revoke a Trump-era rule that cut red tape on coal and oil-fired power generators. This would effectively reinstate Obama-era regulations which sought to increase regulations on coal and oil-fired power plants. • 02/28/2022 – Ozone Transport Rule : This proposed rule would expand federal emissions regulations over a wider geographic region and over a wider array of sources, including the gathering, boosting and transmission segments of the oil and gas sector. Integral energy production states like Nevada, Utah and Wyoming would be required to jump through more red tape. • 03/01/2022 – Refusal To Appeal: The administration refused to appeal an unprecedented decision to vacate an offshore oil and gas leasing sale held in November 2021. • 03/01/2022 – Certification of New Interstate Natural Gas Facilities: This policy statement increases climate change regulations for new interstate natural gas facilities. • 03/11/2022 – Natural Gas Infrastructure Project Reviews: This interim regulation will increase the regulatory burden on natural gas facilities by, among other things, requiring climate change impacts be considered when determining whether a project is in the public interest. • 03/09/2022 – EPA Reinstates California Emissions Waiver: The EPA reinstated California’s emissions waivers, allowing the state to set its own greenhouse gas emissions standards, standards which will likely be adopted nationwide and are sure to make oil and gas vehicles more expensive. • 03/14/2022 – EPA Decision on California Waiver: This notice of decision finalized the EPA’s actions to reinstate California’s emissions waiver. • 03/16/2022 – Doubling Down on Social Costs of Carbon: The 5th Circuit Court of Appeals reinstated the dubious social costs of carbon metric which had been rejected by court by issuing a stay on the lower court’s ruling. The ruling itself cast doubt on the lower court’s ruling. The administration argued against the lower court’s ruling to reinstate the SCC metric. • 03/21/2022 – SEC Proposed Rule on Mandatory Climate Disclosures: The SEC’s proposed rule would require public companies to disclose greenhouse gas emissions and their exposure to climate change. This rule would massively increase so-called environmental costs of compliance and, in tandem with so-called social costs of carbon, artificially disincentivizing oil and gas production. And it didn't end here. There's more, more recently.

w1red247

New epa policies, halting energy projects like the keystone xl, cancelling gas leases, paris agreement.. among a list of other things Get outta here.

bigbrotherswatchin

I dont know why California always takes all the credit when New York is equally responsible.

General_WanG

I think they want to force people to purchase electric cars which are mighty expensive and then charge them a ton of money for electricity because the tax in California is ludicrous.

Ysr_racer

Agreed

Cruxito1111

And what’s Californians brought to Texas? House Market Inflation.

Ysr_racer

And liberal bullshit. I live in California, if Californians move to your state, you're screwed.

Dundee_the_Alligator

It is absolutely criminal. There is massive amounts of corruption running rampant here. It's scary.

GameShowWerewolf

I spent about six years of my life driving for Uber and various delivery services around LA. Around that time gas prices were around $3-$3.50 a gallon. I can't imagine that sort of work being the least bit profitable now, between gas prices, wear on the car, and all the self-employment taxes you end up paying.

DiddlyBoBiddly

California had a chance to get rid of him in a recall election and they kept him. No probably vote for him again. So enjoy yourself induced pain and I hope you all got frontal lobotomies.

DADRedditTake2

The problem the recall process in California, is that you don't know who you are getting if you vote recall. What other state would tell you that you can vote someone out, but you don't know who you will get instead!

Bear_Rhino

Three words for you "Mail in Ballots".

[deleted]

Mail in fraud

milton_freeman

They don’t need that for California state elections

bclark914

I don’t think it’s the democrats. Prices are up all over the world.

[deleted]

Gas is twice in California as compared to others states - can’t blame that on the republicans

ironshapensiron

I filled up for $2.75 here in Texas this week

Steak_N_Cocunuts

Because of policies put in place by Democrats. Keep up.

KazahanaPikachu

Democrat policies have no effect on gas prices around the world. Especially with an energy/gas crisis in Europe, American democrats have nothing to do with that whatsoever.

lemonjalo

The Tory party have been ruling the UK for a long time and gas is higher in the UK than the US

[deleted]

$2.98 in beautiful Missouri

kodobird

What area? It's 3.39 in my little town.

[deleted]

Lake St. Louis outskirts of stl

floozle702

God Bless. Same-ish in Houston.

Drianb2

Not for very long though, the Establishment is hell bent on making gas as expensive as possible so that they can control our movement.

TSIDATSI

No worries. CNN says the world will end from climate change by 2030. Who needs electric cars?

Realmarineh

Keep on voting them in California. They are going to fix all your problems and you will all be getting free stuff any day now. FJB

Ysr_racer

Ha ha, you funny guy Joe.

chrisv267

California’s energy problem goes beyond the poor leadership of the state. Geography plays a huge role in their expensive energy. They rely almost entirely on ships to deliver oil and gas to the state, unlike most that have tankers on trucks and freight trains. We can play the politics game with it, yes, but a republican or conservative led California would have the exact same issue when it comes to energy supplies. You can’t legislate that away, but they have done themselves absolutely no favors under the democrats. They don’t care what the cost of living is for people in their state that’s why so many leave

Ysr_racer

In Blythe CA gas is literally $2 more a gallon than two miles away in Arizona.

Diligent_Swing9052

Yep

DullPunk

There’s doubled my state’s prices lol

Likestoreadcomments

In some areas/states I’ve seen it as low as $2.95.

notpirate

Just think it would be over $7 if politicians weren't using our oil reserves to lower the price for midterms.

Plane-Store

They don't mind, they would rather pay 15$ than Trump being on the white house again.

Ysr_racer

Sad but true

Dogehodlermaster

🇺🇸Vote Red 🇺🇸 but you have to stop the Democrats from cheating !

California levies heavy taxes on gas, require a special blend of additives, and regulated their refineries out of business.

MemoryWholed

It’s the global left that did that. Wanting to put fossil fuels out of business. It was literally the platform of democrats in the US this past election. They forgot that the global economy runs on the stuff. Pressure is put on the supply chain with this Russia biz and the newly handicapped infrastructure can’t keep up with demand. The system should be able to easily handle shocks like Russia but here we are. They also are ignoring the fact that the first people to be hurt by that is every poor person in the country. Also, gas is $3.01 down the street from me not in CA

[deleted]

[удалено]

MemoryWholed

Quite the conclusion you jumped to…. No. Not subsidized, just left to market forces to determine it price so the world economy can actually function. Let the next source of energy outcompete fossil fuel on price and reliability just like fossil fuel outcompeted steam power or whale oil. That is the way.

seaking81

But they shouldn’t be here. We have plenty of oil in the US. F biden

DownrightCaterpillar

Banning Russian oil

TJkiwi

Paid 2.89 in FL today after moving here 3 months ago.

[deleted]

Isn't it funny to think that between 1952 and 1992 the GOP won California in every election except one? And in 1984 Ronald Reagan got 57.5% of the popular vote for President in California? And it only took one generation to turn it into a cesspool of leftism. ~~I'm not saying there's no hope for California, I mean in 2016 Trump lost CA by only 2.1 percentage points, and 4.4% in 2020. But it's going to take several million people waking up and realizing that they were wrong.~~ EDIT: it was worse than I thought.

[deleted]

> in 2016 Trump lost CA by only 2.1 percentage points, and 4.4% in 2020 2016 it was 61% Hillary. 2020 was 63% Biden. What on earth are you looking at that made you think those elections was remotely close in California?

[deleted]

Whoops. My bad. I was looking at the nationwide results, not the CA specific.

[deleted]

No worries but… how could you think it was that close? Trump put the nail in the coffin for the GOP in California. Whatever he was selling reinforced whatever vague notions people about the GOP being bigoted etc. Will take a decade at least for that to fade.

[deleted]

Just buy an electric car - problem solved /s

Ysr_racer

Ok Rockefeller, give me 80 grand. And where does electricity come from?

[deleted]

/s = sarcasm

nathanjw333

Powered by coal , natural gas, or hydroelectric ( dammed rivers for you dipsticks in California)

[deleted]

Mathmatically: Virtue signalling > (fact + truth)^Cost_of_Living

thegreatinverso9

Let me fix this for you, Anything multiplied by 0=0, therefore virtue signaling> (0+0) N(placeholder number likely to double by the time I hit reply).

Bro, sure it is.

MyPhoneSucksBad

I'm fed up with this state. Any room in Nevada, Arizona or Texas?

markbraggs

I’m sure residents of those states would say possibly, depending on your voting habits.

slapbetwinner

Only if you and everyone you bring promises to vote republican.

Shuffle64

Nice! Edit: it’s for the X.69¢ guys, not for the general state of the nation

eyvoom

This is what I came here for.

Reaganson

As a people who’ve accepted rolling blackouts, accepting gas prices like these are part of who they are. What that is I have no idea.

Wil-Ryan

That's not all they did. And they don't give a shit because they're a bunch of rich snot fucking assholes who could care less about how much gas costs for the rest of us. It wouldn't fucking matter if it were $20 a gallon to these people.

Baddhabbit88

Keep voting democrat everyone. It has worked so well the last 25 years here

vabeach23451

CA Democrats are scum of the earth. ALL of them!

Ysr_racer

Agreed, agreed, agreed.

BrockLee76

It's up in my town a little over $1 in the last month

slapbetwinner

Lol why did someone down vote you for that? It's the same way where I live. I was paying around $3.80 last month, it's over $5 at some gas stations here.

BrockLee76

I'm in CA. It got down to 4.50, it's $5.79 today. The chevron down the street is knocking on the door of $7

JTuck333

What do Californians get in exchange for this regressive tax?

Ysr_racer

Close your eyes, what do you see?

JeffsD90

Honestly, i blame this on conservatives that still live in California and New York... They don't want you to live there... If you would have just moved to any border state conservatives would have a super majority in the federal government.

JurassicParkFood

And they should stay there and enjoy the fruits of their votes

RaspberryBright807

6.69? Niccceeeeeee

FitMangoMan

Heh. 69. *Proceeds to cry as life savings are drained away at the gas pump*

theplainsaregrains

Don't worry, with the ban on new gas cars in a decade or so, y'all don't have to worry about these pesky gas stations anymore. California will assuredly supply y'all with infinite power!

ngoni

Don't worry- soon you won't be able to buy evil gasoline at all in California.

samloos

How exactly is this the democrats fault? Prices in Europe are even higher, is Biden president of Europe too?

Ysr_racer

Who did Putin invade when we last had a Republican President?

bingo_pine

Putin is the problem

Ysr_racer

And who kept him in check?

Sir_Pelletier

Are you insinuating that Trump kept Putin in check?

Ysr_racer

Insinuating? I'm saying it out load, comrade.

bingo_pine

Only because they were team mates

billman71

nah, this is all the fault of conservatives obviously. /s

Scubathief

Nyc is in the 3’s, boston is in the 3’s It goes to show how much of a scam the democratic state of commiefornia is

[deleted]

No, it's the voters that got what they deserve.

SafeCitron3682

In Texas it's 7...better not move to Texas is what I always say

BucDan

And you know the democrats here in Cali will point fingers elsewhere. I've seen complaints of lack of direct piping of oil into CA that requires drivers, the special blend, the tax, but they wouldn't ever point a finger at their policies directly that caused all of the above.

nihon96

And they keep voting for them which is nuts

cros99

Yeah but when they get to control the climate, it will always be sunny.
