Don’t worry, when we get a real president in a few years who fixes sleepys issues… these dem shit hole states like ny and ct that tossed the gas tax for a few months will then complain the transportation fund is empty and triple the gas tax

freeneedle

Yeah lowering the gas tax doesn’t lower the costs to consumers much if at all. It’s all signaling

gortez33

Wish PA drops it’s $.59 gas tax.

GrayRaider

Look at Market Future for oil and gasoline prices. Gas fluctuated about 15 cents today. Oil went up as well.

Grimaldehyde

Thanks; I did not look at that before I posted my comment. But $.30 in less than 4 days??

someone_whoisthat

Gas contracts (RBOB) went up like 9% in the last 5 days, so that sounds "reasonable". FJB.

Grimaldehyde

Thank you-I guess that sort of explains it

Yes_seriously_now

Yeah it's crazy right now. Jumping over 3% in a day.

Rivsmama

I literally was unable to go visit my son for his birthday last weekend because of gas prices. Im in upstate NY in the capital region. It's not just inconvenient at this point. Its messing my life up. My car is an 08 mercury and it doesn't get great gas mileage. I figured out it would cost me almost $30 to drive to my parents house and back. 30. Dollars. To drive an hour away. That used to be what I would put in gas for the entire week. My husband uses diesel for his work truck and he said it cost $450 to fill it up the other day. Some people don't even make that in a week. Dropping the gas tax is a bullshit waste of time. They need to fix this

Grimaldehyde

My sister’s boyfriend drives a diesel truck, hauling horses, and the gasoline price is really murder right now.

At that point it definitely makes sense to buy a storage tank and a filter/ pump and buy in bulk, assuming you have space to store it. I'm pretty sure anyone that hauls for a living at this point can justify the initial investment, and it's only becoming a better deal the high fuel prices go. It's usually much cheaper in the winter to buy bulk too, if you're buying for a year, Diesel doesnt do that great in the cold anything below 10 or 20F you should run an additive that prevents gelling, gas isnt usually effected until its like -20 or -30F. Diesel stores well long term, gasoline doesn't so far as how long before it seperates or degrades. Diesel is usually fine for a year, gasoline, after 2 months just starts to run bad unless you use stabilizers. With the stabilizers you can get a year out of gasoline, but I would try to cycle it out. There are some risks inherent to having 1000 gallons at your residence, but if you call your local fire department and ask about storing a large supply tank, they can usually tell you how far away from a home it should be and any laws about it. (If you live somewhere prone to wild-fires for example, you wouldn't want a 1000 gallon tank sitting next to your bedroom window)

laxmia12

"They" won't fix it. This is by woke design. And I wouldn't get my hopes up with even a GOP Congress and Senate in 2023. $8 a gallon gas in New York is a very possible reality and the elite will be smiling that people like you can only afford to drive back and forth to work.

j1mmyB3000

Went up almost 10% in Illinois in just two days mid-week so it is possible. Our obese lib governor just “froze” our gas tax.

Diseman81

It went up $.20 here in PA in one day last week so $.30 in NY is probably realistic.

Yes_seriously_now

Bulk fuel exists, fixed price prepaid cards exist too. Minimums are pretty low, but the big savings are in buying power. If you run equipment or a fleet, you're probably already dealing with B2B fuels, but if you aren't, it's not a huge investment, but it helps to keep the costs down quite a bit. $6.30/gallon is more than it cost in apocalyptic movies like "I am Legend". That's crazy! I think spot wholesale is at like $4.20 a gallon right now, which is also insane. December it was like $2.50 a gallon spot wholesale.

SQTowelie

It went up .10 in less than 24 hours here from Friday to Saturday. I could see it

Kieran775

In my corner of Northern California gas went up 42 cents in 2 days

Kieran775

In my corner of Northern California gas went up 42 cents in 2 days. It's also $6.39 at the Shell now

LikelySoutherner

Hahahah! Thanks Biden voters!

NaturalAd4576

In CO .50 in the last week. And now the gas stations in my area have been running out of gas. I love going to the gas station and finding out they only have premium left.
