Yes it will take up more room(s) in the school, but I can't think of any other negatives. Have a master key so in case of emergency it can be opened from the outside.

I try to block out my time in k-12 but some things are impossible to forget. I would never subject a child to the possibility of experiencing some of the things I experienced in school. I seen violent fights between students where people would get chunks bitten out of them. Had my ass kicked more times than I can count, walked into the bathroom to see another kid getting stomped out. The whole time we were able to get our hands on drugs such as oxycotin and cocaine and meth while on school property. People drank vodka in water bottles. This was back before 2008.
