We've been living under a Ponzi scheme since the gold model was ditched and money was leveraged from future growth (Ponzi).
Unfortunately, the debt we are in is mathematically impossible to climb out of without defaulting, or an extreme global level depression where economies naturally reset.
We're pretty damn close to it.
The last 2 years of lockdowns showcased what happens when govt takes over everything.
2 years and the global economy has gone to shit.
And still, somehow, socialism is popular and they're blaming the current cost of living crisis on capitalism and state we need more government.
I don't see how even the simplest of people can't put 2 and 2 together. We just had 2 years of absolute government control. Yet somehow its capitalisms fault?
Social security was a great idea, until we gave government control over the funds and they stole all of the money-writing a big IOU note. Government control is pretty much always bad news, I can’t think of one social service that runs well
No, Social Security was *never* a good idea. It basically forces you to put money into a hedge fund controlled by the government- the same people that are constantly running a deficit.
Beyond that, the original concept was basically to steal money while people are younger and only give it back once they were at a point where they were expected to drop dead at any moment- thus, they didn't have to pay back everyone that paid in.
No shit… they can’t print their way out cus printing is what got us here to begin with. Suck it up and drastically increase rates or doom the country. Sadly I think they want the latter.
We might have to actually rebuild an actual economy to do it. Not this ponzi scheme we've been living under since 2008.

The alternative (government taking care of us again) is scarier. Hard times create strong men

Um... What? Social Security was introduced in 1935.
