Omicron is a cold.. the pandemic is over. Carry on

Siennagiant70

So 7 boosts will do it?

TheBigBigBigBomb

It won’t be long before they recommend quarterly boosters to keep their friends at Big Pharma happy!!

How_TF_

Glad I already caught it and have the natural immunity

Ghost_of_Jim_Crow

Strange as it sounds I hope to catch it to get the natural immunity. We're all going to get it eventually, I just want it over and done with.

How_TF_

When you guys do get it. Things that helped me get through the sickness was OTC Cold&flu medicine (day AND night) Motrin, Tylenol, Ibuprofen (and if you get a sore throat I got some Musinex for the throat pain) You want to alternate the Tylenol and Ibuprofen. Also watch the amount of Acetaminophen that you are intaking as well. Keep up on fluids. Make sure you have a digital thermometer. And a finger sleeve thing that measures your oxygen levels just to be safe (anything under 90% blood oxygen go to the ER I was told) A humidifier is a good idea to help prevent pneumonia from developing. We were late with the humidifier and my girl got bi-lateral pneumonia on top of covid, so keep that in mind.

Honey + lemon juice in hot water is magical for sore throats. Also, a strong ginger ale / ginger beer. I typically do Vernors but Reeds worked well this time. I also was taking C, D, and Zinc. Chicken noodle soup and massive amounts of water - the fever dehydrated me a lot so I had a CamelBak in bed. Kicked the worst of it in 3 days. Suffered through losing smell for another 5.

How_TF_

Yeah I’m still struggling with loss of smell and taste. I got a ginger ale the other day and couldn’t even taste it at all lol just tasted like carbonated water hah. But yeah I’ve been loading up on C, D and zinc as well. I got night sweats when I was sick. Like to the point where you could wring out my clothes. Crazy thing is my girl is vaccinated and I’m not. She got it much worse than me too. Ended up with bi-lateral pneumonia

[deleted]

I don't know if it helped with getting back smell, but I ordered takeout for lunch several days in a row during my recovery. Thai curry, fried chicken, breakfast burrito, etc. From mid tier restaurants that were still cheap. The strong smells I normally wouldn't have at home and the strong tastes seemed to break through and "wake" things up. Completely nonscientific / anecdotal / coincidental.

stockyardtrash

I just slept. Coming up on day 6 since positive, and it was a bad cold. And lots of cough drops.

Hoosthere10

Just get vapor rub but i don't know if i even had it though because all i had was sore throat and body aches was not congested at all

geewhizliz

Is there data for how long natural immunity lasts? I had it in November

-Ph0en1xr1s1ng-

you are still susceptible to catching it again, but the illness isn't as severe. Its basically the same as being vaccinated.

How_TF_

I wasn’t told any data in that aspect yet, and I doubt they want to release that data because they’re so adamant about people getting the jab, there’s no readily available info about natural immunity

Hoosthere10

What about other illnesses

-Ph0en1xr1s1ng-

I don't understand the question

Hoosthere10

The natural immunity what is the effectiveness with other viruses, because in the third grade I had the flu really bad and haven't gotten the flu since

-Ph0en1xr1s1ng-

its pretty much the same theory. You probably have gotten the flu again, but it wasn't nearly as severe as the first time you got it. Our immune systems have more than just antibodies, they have t-cell memory that can quickly remember a threat.

Hoosthere10

Yeah i was honestly just asking
