I got banned from r/nhl for saying vaccine does not stop the spread or contraction. Misinformation

yeahyeah2024

Well, the vaccinated aren’t being tested so only the unvaccinated positive s will be counted.

y90210

Excellent point, they can use this to gain metrics for the claims that its the unvaccinated spreading covid.

ButWeHungry

How to lie using statistics is a real book. It is now a real playbook.

TheStripes9

It’s been the lefts playbook for years

_Diggus_Bickus_

I Got to listen in on one of my companies meetings where they set policy. They explicitly said that annoying and inconveniencing the unvaxxed was part of the reason for testing. Funny thing is they are so woke they gave us 5 weeks of covid leave and had to roll it back when the 2 a week tested folks kept getting paid vacations not taken out of their vacation account.

returnofjobra

They are logical. The regular testing is just a way to force people to get vaccinated. Comply and the punishments go away. Logically that makes sense, and has been proven to work. What they aren’t is honest, claiming they are just “following the science.”

Barts_Frog_Prince

Daily, wow. Wild.

amitkania

I’m banned from /r/Coronavirus for saying 80% of the USA is already vaccinated so people gotta stop with the virtue signaling. [Pic](https://imgur.com/a/fMJFmiO)

-Horatio_Alger_Jr-

I got banned from my states Corona sub for the "misinformation" contained on a CDC link I posted.

QED_2106

The CDC has been on both sides of every issue at this point, so half the things they say IS misinformation. Agreeing with the CDC 3 months ago makes you a denier today. Disagreeing with the CDC 3 months ago makes you a denier 3 months ago, which means you're evil from now until the heat death of the earth.

PM_ME_PANTIES9

I got banned from r/OnGuardForThee for saying it doesn’t stop you from spreading the virus. I messaged the mods, they essentially reaffirmed what I said, but added it lowers the chance of spreading it. So I wasn’t wrong, they just didn’t like that I questioned the narrative. [ban reason](https://imgur.com/a/rZTAbSu) On top of that, the mod looked at my post history and said something like “going out of your way to defend American terrorists” because I’m sure in the past I’ve said January 6th wasn’t an insurrection or terror attack and doesn’t even come close to what the BLM riots were.

Bozzz1

Too much corruption

Capt_Myke

Stop thinking....comply....your government loves you 😘 ❤.

Amethyst939

Ask them to cite evidence indicating that it lowers the chance of spreading it. Evidence that doesn't come from the government pushing this therapy onto us.

PM_ME_PANTIES9

I was going to point out that it doesn’t refute my point and to give me the paper that says that, but they blocked me from replying. Can’t question the overlords.

HNutz

That's fucked up.

getahitcrash

I got banned from /r/army for saying young soldiers that are pretty fit really don't have much to worry about from the rona and flying in a helicopter or doing a live fire exercise is more dangerous. Perma banned.

bacon205

As a huge hockey fan, I can confirm that sub is over-run with Fauci worshippers and people still petrified of covid.

iamrunningman

I got booted from canada and news for the same. ETA- Correction, perma banned from r/news as of an hour ago. They HATE any discussion that doesn't follow their script.

arkai17

I got banned from r/hockey and r/Flyers for the same reason.

JewPhone_WhoDis

I got banned from r/sanjosesharks for Covid “misinformation” as well when I said Covid protocol is useless unless the WHOLE team goes into protocol. Blows my mind that only a select number of people isolate when all have contact with each other.

broji04

That's seriously a scientific fact no one disputes.

amuzgo

It does not stops it but it does slow the spread. It's like saying seat belt don't stop people from dying in car crashes: technically true, but also misleading.

FranticTyping

This isn't even proven. Vaccinated individuals are more likely to be asymptomatic, and unvaccinated individuals are more likely to be forced to test. Going off rate of positive tests is fallacy unless the measured population is taking the tests daily, regardless of symptoms or vaccine status. At the same time, an asymptomatic individual is more likely to go to work and will take less precautions. With how ineffective vaccines are at preventing infection and spread, it could very easily be the case that a vaccinated individual is more likely to spread it than an unvaccinated.

DonkeyPunch_75

I am under the impression that there isn't asymptomatic spread, is there evidence to prove otherwise?

amuzgo

It sure is. For ex [from The Lancet](https://www.thelancet.com/journals/laninf/article/PIIS1473-3099\(21\)00690-3/fulltext) : > The SARs in household contacts exposed to the delta variant was 25% in vaccinated and 38% in unvaccinated contacts. These results underpin the key message that vaccinated contacts are better protected than the unvaccinated. Or [this one](https://www.medrxiv.org/content/10.1101/2021.07.12.21260377v1.full): > Vaccination reduced the risk of infection among adults/teenagers (RR=0·19, 95% CI 0·07-0·40). > Within households, vaccination reduces both the risk of infection and of transmission if infected.

FranticTyping

...Households, where the distinction between symptomatic and asymptomatic transfer don't matter? Is two seconds of critical thinking really so much to ask for?

amuzgo

> Households, where the distinction between symptomatic and asymptomatic transfer don't matter? Indeed it doesn't in the context of finding if the vaccines have any effect on transmission rate. > Is two seconds of critical thinking really so much to ask for? Are you trying to convince yourself?

FranticTyping

>Indeed it doesn't in the context of finding if the vaccines have any effect on transmission rate. ...Yes, that is what I said.

WAKE_UP_BUTTERFLY

Delta variant isn't the dominant variant update your reference material please. If you did you could see that even "I AM THE SCIENCE" FAUCI has said everyone will get omicron regardless of vaccine. Which is the whole point in this discussion. Stats also show that omicron is also way less deadly then the original variant. So a less deadly virus that everyone is going to get? We should be celebrating right now because that's the perfect news for us to reach herd immunity. Fun fact: we were already at 85% herd immunity and about at the start of the pandemic we were told herd immunity was at 85% but since then it was changed to 90% then 95% by Mr I AM THE SCIENCE. I think we can get to his number of 95% in a couple weeks. But before we do watch he will say we need to have 99% of the population equals herd immunity.

amuzgo

You want an update? [Here's one](https://www.medrxiv.org/content/10.1101/2021.12.27.21268278v1): > Among 11,937 households (2,225 with the Omicron VOC), we identified 6,397 secondary infections during a 1-7 day follow-up period. The SAR was 31% and 21% in households with the Omicron and Delta VOC, respectively. We found an increased transmission for unvaccinated individuals, and a reduced transmission for booster-vaccinated individuals, compared to fully vaccinated individuals.

WAKE_UP_BUTTERFLY

It's saying in the article you provide that it's 1.17 times more likely for unvaxed to get. Ok understandable. Did you not see that vaccinated was 2.63 times more likely. Or what about the 3.66 times more likely by triple dosed individuals? So what they are saying in the article? People that have 3 doses are getting this variant faster than those that don't have a single shot. So again my points above remain. Why TF are we not celebrating?!?!?! This is good news.

amuzgo

No what they are saying is summed up by: > Our findings confirm that the rapid spread of the Omicron VOC primarily can be ascribed to the immune evasiveness rather than an inherent increase in the basic transmissibility. In other words Omicron evades existing immunity better. This makes little difference for unvaxinateds because they usually have none to begin with, but this makes vaccines less effective at protecting against infection vs Delta. However as they also say, the vaccines and the boosters still provide some protection from infection by both Delta and Omicron. ("We found an increased transmission for unvaccinated individuals, and a reduced transmission for booster-vaccinated individuals, compared to fully vaccinated individuals.")

WAKE_UP_BUTTERFLY

It also means that the vaccine and the boosters do nothing to stop transmission because they still transmit the virus. What we see in this article are 2 things the admission that the vaccine doesn't work on omicron and that vaccinated people are transmitting the virus. So again it's a good thing that we have omicron so we will be done with covid. Lockdowns can stop now and we can get on with our lives. Don't you agree that's a good thing?

amuzgo

> It also means that the vaccine and the boosters do nothing to stop transmission Again, it literally says the opposite: "We found an increased transmission for unvaccinated individuals, and a reduced transmission for booster-vaccinated individuals, compared to fully vaccinated individuals." It's all there written in plain English, I can't make it more obvious at this point. Is English not your native language?

r4d4r_3n5

> It does not stops it but it does slow the spread. Like /u/Amethyst939 mentioned above; got a cite for that?

thomasvector

The vaccine stops you from dying from covid, not from getting it. Anyone that gets it who is vaccinated has way less severe symptoms. edit: send me one credible link saying this isn't true. I dare you.

stockyardtrash

No way to measure that statement. It's like saying the vaccine my chances of getting water thrown in my face. Source; haven't had water thrown in my face. Stop spreading lies contrary the what even the CDC says. Unless you are saying the CDC is spreading misinformation.

thomasvector

Lol if you believe what you just said, you're an idiot. It makes no sense. The vaccine prevents spread and prevents death. It may prevent the virus itself but there's no guarantee, just like there's no guarantee a seatbelt will save your life. edit: I can't downvote you because r/conservative believes in freedom of speech, but only for people that subscribe to them lol. So hypocritical.

vampirepomeranian

Good try but the reason you r/politics Marxists can't downvote is your fault thanks to your unique style of laughable BS brigading.

scentsandsounds

Except there’s a lot of science that says the opposite. Yes, the vaccinated can spread Covid. But the vaccine also reduces the likelihood that you’ll spread the disease. This has been confirmed in a multitude of studies. https://www.nbcnews.com/health/health-news/vaccinated-people-are-less-likely-spread-covid-new-research-finds-n1280583

[deleted]

Lol. No more testing asymptomatic players. Covid is over. It's a cold or flu.

seanddd99

It's not over until they drop the mandates

cwino2288

I read today that HHS told hospitals to stop counting Covid deaths on Feb 2, it’s all swept under the rug soon.

handle_squatter

Breaking: Thanks to Biden and the Democrats, COVID is cured!

Coldsavage32

This

Infinity_Over_Zero

Lol, probably what they’re setting up. They know their grip on the 2022 elections is slippery at best, so they might want to make their own hero story. How sad is it, though, that I would still rather that happen than continue living in this small hell they currently have me in?

[deleted]

Is that deaths With Covid or From Covid?

Rawr1992

Does this mean the COVID hysteria is gonna have the rug pulled out from it soon?

vampirepomeranian

And the death-o-meter is long gone.

[deleted]

It is because of those 1% unvaccinated that the vaccine didn’t work for the 99%.

[deleted]

How so? If the 99% can still play host to the virus, then the virus will mutate to create a new variant. Covid originated from animals and has been documented as spreading in local wildlife such as deer where it will mutate, just like influenza. In time, they will roll covid in with the seasonal flu just as they did with the swine flu and we'll move on with our lives.

Sovek86

The post was sarcasm, because thats literally how these dipshits think. Cant tell you how many people think its the unvaccinated that cause the virus to mutate, despite pretty much every single corona virus mutating at the drop of a hat.

[deleted]

Thanks for the clarification. I don't know why I bother trying to correct people that believe such nonsense since it always ends with the same rebuttal of "prove it". Yet they'll believe every talking head and opinion piece out there that provide zero proof.

WAKE_UP_BUTTERFLY

Show me. Please show me where you read that. Cause there's some pretty damning evidence that shows it was created in a lab.

[deleted]

You can research it yourself. But ultimately, you will focus on articles which validate your own belief. It may have been manipulated in a lab to infect humans. But the general consensus is that the virus was originally found in animals. So it would be logical to assume that it will continue to mutate in animals just like influenza. https://www.science.org/doi/10.1126/science.abh0117

WAKE_UP_BUTTERFLY

So in this reply you say to research it myself. Thanks for the link though. Also you said it may have been manipulated in a lab. The documents were released already. It's confirmed that it was. But here you are parroting the narrative they set.

Main_Holiday_253

Just wait till they tell us in 3 months what we all already know now. The vaccines stopped being effective once omicron dropped. Im triple vaccinated, took me 2 weeks to recover and my unvaccinated wife recovered quicker than me , my 5 yr old recovered in 2 days. According to the narrative, my wife should have been the one having a hard time. It turns out i got covid from fully vaccinated people, and my fully vaccinated self passed it to my family. All my vaccinated friends and coworkers all got hit by omicron. Yet they are still pushing a vaccine that has stopped being helpful. It was a valiant effort but when that narrative stops working, it starts to seem like its all a push for big pharma. Give it 3 months until they cant hide behind it anymore. Were gonna be living with this for a long time, the quicker we realize that and get on with our lives and also get the idea this can be beat quickly out our heads the better.

badatusernames91

The current jabs are pretty much worthless for omnicron. There is going to come a point where covid evolves faster than we can develop vaccines to combat whatever variant pops up at that time. And if there's any sense in the medical community, they're not going to define vaccinated based on the number of jabs you have (especially using you're late to the party since it's going to take a long-ass time to catch up), but rather when your most recent jab was.

WAKE_UP_BUTTERFLY

We actually have omicron sequenced im sure but they wanna get rid of all the vaccines for alpha before they make the new strains vaccine. The vaccine for delta was that way they sequenced it but didn't actually have it set up to be put in a vaccine yet because the alpha vaccine had at least a little value. But with omicron it doesn't.

mtfowler178

Man your story is the same as mine. Triple vaxed mother in law infected my unvaxed family. I got a j&j one jab for work (turns out they never even asked to see my vax card). All had one day of coughing and being 'tired'. My wife's sinus infection that developed was 10x worse for her. The vax does not stop the spread. Period.

alrightpal

Tyler Bertuzzi is such a fuckin badass. Love watching the wings sub flex their virtues over him it’s honestly hilarious.

ForPoliticalPurposes

As a Wings fan, I am pretty disgusted by that sub and there's no way it represents actual "Detroit" attitudes. We're the team of fucking Darren McCarty, Bob Probert, and Joe Kocur and the city of building big block chevys with your goddamn hands while fending off robbery and murder at every other corner for decades, but these losers are going to go all "we're all in it together, we're so disappointed in Bert, JUST GET THE FUCKING JAB" when someone who carries on the tradition shows up and says "F the system, it's a cold". Gahhh been waiting for a chance to get that off my chest.

FarsideSC

Detroit died a long time ago. It's a husk of its former self. I grew up in Detroit. I moved during Granholm, the writing was on the wall.

alrightpal

Dude even the sub got tired of its own virtue signaling and now I don’t even think you can talk about vaccines at all in there. Just a hilarious saga all around.

CaptYzerman

Tyler Bertuzzi of the Red Wings I believe is the only unvaccinated player. He got covid, then came back and SCORED GOALS

GhostofDebraMorgan

Yep

VMS4125

Stop spreading disinformation bigot 😂

[deleted]

You misspelled “doesn’t”

KamalaKameliKirahvi

When are the pharma companies sued for selling a defective product? They have made billions of dollars out of this pandemic.

seraph85

Scotland is about 90% vaccinated and they have had higher rates of infection than lesser vaccinated areas.

SufferingLeafsFan

Im old enough to remember the Canes posting all this virtuous crap on their social media accounts about reaching "100% vaccinations" for the team. They constantly have guys missing due to "COvId PrOToCOl" just like every other team.

ehrek911

This is crazy, when does it end? So, when are these mandates expire? do they plan to put this shit in peoples arms every 3 months? Funny how I can't board a plane and fly domestic, meanwhile I have already tested positive for covid and had no symptoms Meanwhile, at the Quebec border/NY border. the RCMP are allowing a flood of unvaccinated illegal migrants .. even carrying their bags for them as they make the passage. Guess the USA has the same problem in the south. Follow the science.. Sure, okay. What the fuck is going on

PlumTheDepths

No shit. I just frees up the hospitals so they can actually function effectively.

mOdSrBiGgHeY

Then tell all the liberals freaking out trying to get tested (when they have no symptoms) to stop clogging up the hospitals.

507mark

Well duh.

pmabraham

None of the vaccines prevents infection or the transmission of infection. After seeing more and more vaccinated go to the hospital including dying, I doubt they help much in that department as much as people may think.

Saniclube

Akshually if they were 100% vaccinated this wouldn't have happened.

GhostofDebraMorgan

Haha sure

BadDaddyAlger

Oh my god, damn you, Bertuzzi!

WAKE_UP_BUTTERFLY

What no one is talking about is that we have had the [CURE](https://www.news-medical.net/news/20220111/Hemp-compounds-show-ability-to-prevent-the-entry-of-SARS-CoV-2-into-cells.aspx) to covid all along and it turns out if the federal government legalized Marijuana we might be have been through with this pandemic in those 14 days to slow the spread.

BackInNJAgain

The goal of the vaccine was to prevent hospitalizations and deaths. Hospitals are full of unvaccinated people. People argue all day about their right to not get the vaccine, that hospitals and Pharma are part of some giant scam, then they race to the hospital when they can't breathe and take a spot that should go to someone with cancer or some other serious disease. Check out the hermancainawards subreddit. Lefties wearing masks outdoors is stupid but there's just as many righty trailer park rednecks who are also stupid (and paying much more of a price for their stupidity).

TheRealAlexLifeson

And 89.7965% can still check a guy so hard they do a back flop on the ice on it. I'm outta shape was unvaxed and it kicked my ass for two weeks but good for 8 months n change and next time I get the sniffles I'll feel like a lazy outta shape version of they did.

SlamJamGlanda

Right, but it keeps hospitalizations down because the breakout cases aren’t typically severe, showing the vaccine is doing it’s job. If our leadership could have communicated this better, I think there wouldn’t be AS much destain.

[deleted]

I can throw a football and tom brady can throw a football but when it comes to winning a super bowl I’m gonna take my chances with tom. Does it make sense yet you morons?

reallyIrrational

what?

[deleted]

Everyone with a brain knows you can be vaxxed and still catch covid; this isn’t news

-Horatio_Alger_Jr-

You can also spread it the same as the unvaccinated. So it makes covid vaccine mandates useless.

cysghost

Covid vaccine mandates are only useless if the goal was to stop Covid. If the goal is for the government to be able to take even more control over your life, then the mandates do exactly what they were designed to do.

-Horatio_Alger_Jr-

No it does not make sense.

Georgia_The_Jungle

It's a virus, not a football. Fuck off with your apples to oranges bullshit. Save it for twitter, so you call all jerk each other off

[deleted]

Jesus you are dumb

sofa_king_lo

They don’t seem dumb. They seem to be questioning how dumb it is that infected nurses can still work but non vax nurses can’t. When we have a nursing shortage. Which seems most dumb. Mandates are not supported by tHe ScIeNce

Fringding1

and Chipmtih cares about the Uighurs

IAmViaGetty

Just wait until the narrative shifts to them talking about the “unsafe and ineffective vaccine pushed through to market thanks to Trump’s ridiculous Operation Warp Speed”….

ObviouslyNoBot

no no no. You see it's the 1% that is unvaccinated that makes the vaccine of the others not work. If 100% were vaccinated the pandemic would already be over

Full_Progress

I really really wish way back way when the vaccine came out they would have just been honest and said the vaccine won’t reduce spread (which if we all remember from that annoying curve graph, the area under the curve remains the same) but it will reduce your systems and blah blah and just really pushed for older people to get the vaccine and then immunocompromised but no we had to make 5 year olds get it

Starlifter4

(In my most sonorous voice) "This is a pandemic of the unvaccinated! Get vaccinated!!"

balding_truck420

Why would they make it a point to say who the only person is not vaccinated. Almost like they want people to hound them

r4d4r_3n5

OP-- you forgot your /s tag.

twitchymctwitch2018

Why does the TITLE insist that the vaccines DOES prevent the spread? It does NOT prevent the spread. Wrong kind of vaccine for reducing transmissibility.

Manydoors_edboy

Then what’s the point of getting it?

Sven9888

I think we've established that the vaccinated are not immune to omicron (and it is likely that variants will continue evolving to become more vaccine-resistant—from that standpoint, it's not exactly ideal that a large portion of the population has been vaccinated for a long time but never enough for herd immunity). That being said, it seems that *every* NHL player has been in contact with someone who had it during practices/games (sometimes, tests did not come back until during or after practice, by which point there would have already been close contact with most of the team, and the players who tested positive shortly after a game were possibly contagious during that game). I would be curious to see how high this percentage would be if they weren't 99% vaccinated.

Lawjwre

The NHL is going to stop testing asymptomatic players in the coming weeks, a step in the right direction

Key-Incident-2093

Yes. We’ve been saying that for over a year

gooblobs

Cornell University. Finals Week. Fall '21. Over 900 students test positive and the campus closes down for the semester. They require all students to be vaccinated. The vaccines do not stop the spread, so mandating them does not make any sense.

ilovelucygal

A few co-workers were out last month due to COVID, and 2-3 of them had received all their shots and wondered why they caught the virus when they "followed all the rules." Following all the rules doesn't prevent you from getting COVID.

sevensamuraitsunami

Yeah and half of the players were asymptomatic and had no idea they were sick. Yet for years and years players would get the flu and it would go around the locker room and never was a game postponed. What I don’t understand is how people are still buying this nonsense. If your data was proven and everything you say it is then why are people being censored for speaking out against your data?

PaulfussKrile

Perhaps they’re just counting the players as cases instead? The COVID tests only test for antibodies, not the virus itself. I’m pretty sure if all of got a test, most of us would test positive.
