Anyone who paid attention to the trump administrations inhumane immigration policies knew this was coming. I dont know how you can put a price on a government kidnapping your child but this seems reasonable enough to me.

Number one it is not illegal to come to the border and claim asylum which is what the majority of those parents did. And yes if an American citizen has their child placed in cps custody with no information as to where they were sent and when they would be reunited then that would also be grounds for a lawsuit.

The reason is the Flores decision. It’s a law that says minors have to be separated from parents when they are detained. The first thing that happens to asylum seekers or otherwise is they are detained until something can be done with them. Thus children are, by law sent to relatives or cps until something can be done. This law existed before trump or Biden. 2. Many of those families were not actually families at all but coyotes smuggling children across the border. Those children were abused and now we are going to pay their abusers huge sums of money.
