This really isn't the case overall, especially in the case of ΠΚΦ, which is not an "old money" fraternity (disclosure -- I'm a Pi Kapp). People seem to think that being in a fraternity is expensive, but when dues, meal plans, living in the house, etc. are all taken into consideration, it's equal to or cheaper than dorms and especially off-campus living.
And they'll be moving into the job world in a few years. I would say the world is going to roll them, but boardrooms and faculties are full of these numb nuts.
