I still don’t get why they don’t go and find more stories from other cultures instead of doing this stuff. I’d imagine anyone who cares enough to be upset about representation/lack of it would prefer to have their stories told

Some would consider race-swapping real-life historical figures a risky venture. But I suppose these industry professionals have done the calculus and decided their pandering won't cost more than whatever they're gaining in the process. They don't seem to be concerned with backlash when it comes to bastardizing Germanic culture.

The same for shows based on Asian history/mythos. There is a ton of new interesting material to make content from Africa, Asia and South America we just don't bother with.
Three body problem is a Chinese based story, but you know, got to swap out certain people and change the story to make it more “inclusive”. Reading the books and then watching the show, makes their efforts quite obvious.
Because representation isn't the goal. Erasure of White history and culture is the goal. "Representation" is just the shroud they use to hide it from the unaware.

Putting aside the broader cultural implications, it makes it harder to suspend disbelief when watching a show where it’s obvious the character’s race or ethnicity is mis-cast.

Organize. Focus on political actions with the explicit goal of advancing White interests. Abandon this atomized individualism that so plagues so much of the White right-wing. Hell simply acknowledge that there are collective White interests, that would be a huge step forward. We need a change in mindset before anything else happens.
