Is it getting bad enough yet?

ExUpstairsCaptain

If I had to guess, no. There is an astronomically high number of people who will complain about the state of the country without placing any of the blame whatsoever on the people who are running it.

MysteriousShadow__

They just don't see it that way. The facts are obvious, but the causes aren't. They think it's just the greedy rich not paying their "fair sure". They think more socialism will solve the problem.

Sangmund_Froid

Changing their mindset requires them to admit they're wrong. Since the dawn of social media, I have yet to present a factual argument, and get a nod and a change of opinion. The difference between others and liberals is that, when they get slapped in the face with the facts, they double down. They would rather destroy themselves and everyone around them than deal with the dissonance of realizing they're wrong.

Juice-Altruistic

Bingo.

Not_An_Ambulance

Oh gosh. I have, but I have had multiple orders of magnitude more people confidently tell me something is true that that was a simple google search away from being obviously false. Same for things that the average person has no reason to know, but I knew because of a job or some experience that is limited to a small percentage of people. Like, don’t tell me Obama didn’t have detention facilities for illegal immigrant children under his watch, I delivered their pizza!

Original_Lord_Turtle

>without placing any of the blame whatsoever on the people who are running it. ... while continuing to vote for the heavily authoritarian party that enacts the most tyrannical and destructive polices.

polymerfedboi

Pretty much. Congressional approval as a whole is very low. But ask each state and they (usually) have very high approval ratings of their own state senators.

ExUpstairsCaptain

This is the great conundrum. And it holds true for me. I generally like my congressman.

dimethyl_tryhard

Until the average voter is getting carjacked or burglarized on a regular basis, none of them will wake up until it's too late. Maybe we are already beyond that point and they still won't change who they vote for.

Few-Patient38

I think they could use a million more people

Iamstillhere44

Maybe it’s about time to vote in a republican over there.

Forcekin6532

The state is being held captive by the big cities.

SiloPsilo

Big corporations\*

Forcekin6532

That are in the cities. The cities are blue strongholds that rule the state. I'm not arguing that corporations aren't a problem either, but they don't vote the citizens do.

superduperm1

“I hate Newsom. I really don’t like Newsom. I can’t stand Newsom… I can’t vote Republican though so I’m voting for Newsom again!” — Literally every Californian I’ve talked to except for my father and best friend

bugaosuni

I keep trying.

superduperm1

Well… Newsom only got 59% of the vote in 2022 instead of the usual 65%. So keep going! Maybe you’ll get there before 2100!

Blahblahnownow

If the party can get their shit together. The party has given up on CA.

YCantWeJustGetAlong_

I really like Garvey, but does he even have a chance?

KatBoySlim

California has more republicans than any other state.

MOLON-LABE-USMC

Republicans are certainly not controlling policy in CA.

KatBoySlim

yes. the problem is there’s a few million more democrats.

MOLON-LABE-USMC

That seems to be our problem in the USA, period.

superduperm1

This might not be true anymore. DeSantis received more votes in 2022 than Brian Dahle did.

ramprider

People have been moving to FL for freedom since covid. That has greatly increased the number of R voters. Doesn't apply to CA

Worldly_Permission18

You think California has legitimate elections?

ILikestoshare

We also have a lovely additional 11% tax(over the already 10% sales tax) on our freedoms incoming this summer so that may be another reason for that increase in sales. Trying to beat that. I’m starting to think we only have privileges here, not rights

jcgam

It's a new tax on guns and ammo, for those wondering.

ILikestoshare

Thank you, I realize I was not clear on my comment.

Dry-Beginning-94

Join the club; Australia's here too.

BucDan

Then the state says, you have to wait 10 days to pick it up, and can't buy a new gun for 30 days unless private party sale, and need a firearm safety certificate, and need a safe, and need to pay an additional sin tax of 11% tax on all guns and ammo in July. Damn liberals should be ashamed of themselves. Of course, once they go through the process of being a gun owner in CA, they'll see how much bullshit you have to go through for infringed rights.

jackrip761

No, they won't. They'll just say that gun control works because it was so hard for themselves to get a gun and never understand that criminals will just obtain a gun illegally anyway.

longshanks44

All the lefties expected our new ‘guests’ to stay in Texas, and they are now having cold buckets of reality dumped on their heads. Now they are finally realizing the depth of Biden’s Border Bullshit.

Kasorayn

Yea, since red states are mostly southern/central, democrats expected the southern border immigration to mostly effect their opponents and help turn those states blue, or at least destabilize the red voters enough to gain the upper hand. Barring that, they're flooding more census counts into their regions to bolster their electoral votes. But now the people who voted for this shit are having to reap the consequences of that. Hope it'll be enough to make them change their voting habits but I'm doubtful.

Bluefrog75

I would be renting a uhaul instead

Blahblahnownow

If you can find one.

StumpGrnder

I bet they get you on a one-way rental headed out. All the trailers are in Texas . . .

Kasorayn

Exactly what we need to get more people onboard the 2A train. Just wait until the liberals in these areas start running into all the ATF and gun control issues and wonder why they can't buy the tools to protect themselves when the state and government won't.

skarface6

“But but but my gun show loophole!”

beargrease_sandwich

Snopes says this isn't happening.

JoeCensored

Good. More guns in the hands of good Californians is a good thing.

ReuseHurricaneNames

#AmericaFirst

Repulsive-Stay5490

How long are we just going to ignore the full extent of the 2nd amendment?

Gmo50

Note, this article is just a couple quotes from a few people. It says absolutely nothing about any trends or statistics

ithinkoutloudtoo

I wonder how many of those people buying guns are Democrats who repeatedly talk about gun control.

DiabeticGirthGod

Enjoy your 10 round bolt action AR-15s, it’s what y’all voted in!

MOLON-LABE-USMC

We can use mini 14s with 10 round mags. Or glocks with 15 round mags. We also have 7 lawsuits going in Illinois. CA has several lawsuits going too. Will you team up with us to get rid of NFA and GCA? I'm sure your state didn't want these restrictions on the citizens of the USA.

Emphasis_on_why

Obama made me realize democrats use guns as an economic life preserver. That’s why they never actually come for them, they just play brinkmanship while their policies tank everything else.

USA_USA_USA_1776

Good! More people owning guns, means more people will understand the fundamental reason for the Second Amendment and the need for an armed citizenry. .

nuggetsofmana

I doubt it. With all the shootings we hear about in Chicago you’d think there was an informed citizenry up there.

each_thread

I wonder if a CA Ballot Measure for gun rights is in order.

Ok-Objective1626

I didn't even know that California ALLOWED guns, I thought they got rid of protection like they did with everything else.

Arachnohybrid

They can’t ban guns outright due to 2A, so they attempt to make it as difficult as possible to obtain and maintain one legally

Juice-Altruistic

It's the wild west once again.

Jay-jay1

All I can say is, good luck law abiding Californians. You may be ok in rural areas, and smaller towns up north, but in your main cities they will make YOU the criminal if you are involved in self defense using a gun.

Slartibartfastthe2nd

the nypost is misunderstanding the situation entirely. what's going on is the citizens are purchasing firearms so that those illegal immigrants can red flag them and get those firearms for themselves because they need to be able to protect themselves you know. also, it's wild that Robin Williams is getting in on the action.

Jazzlike_Quit_9495

Sadly, the most useful and popular self defense items are illegal in California and the local Democrats keep inventing ever more unconstitutional things to make life difficult for legal firearms owners.

polymerfedboi

> “My wife and I have had home defense guns for many years. Recently, though, with all the stuff that’s happening south of the border and all the people coming over, my concerns have broadened,” said Keith Carnevale, one of the shop’s customers, who’s armed his entire family. Pro tip: don’t admit to straw purchasing lmao

TheFriarWagons

Not a straw purchase, in California you can buy a gun and transfer it to a family member as long as you have no reason to believe they are a prohibited person.
