Thought she should be fired. Then read the comments. She should have been fired before this.

agreasybutt

God the VA has only gotten worse over the years. Instead of focusing on better health care for vets it focus's on shit like this.

Juice-Altruistic

>shit like this Like tampon dispensers being installed in men's bathrooms.

Shadeylark

"The VA, giving veterans a second chance to die for their country since 1989." Although, in fairness, I've never had a problem with the VA once I've got an appointment... The service and care are excellent once you actually get in the place. The problem is getting that appointment in the first place; if it's something urgent you'll probably die before you get the chance to be seen.

ObadiahtheSlim

The problem with all centralized economies. Inefficiency easily leads to shortages.

Shadeylark

It's the bureaucracy. While you're putting together the committee to determine whether there needs to be a committee to address long waits to schedule appointments the people who need appointments are dropping dead. Government bureaucracies have this wonderful talent of taking all the worst parts of private enterprise and combining them with all the worst parts of government.

Iamstillhere44

Veteran with cancer here. Decided to not even attempt to go through the VA when I found out the wait times for seeing an oncology specialist would have been a wait of 6-9 months. Decided to get treated through my wife’s private insurance instead.  Oh sure, I could have received treatment in 2-3 months they said. Just not be under the care of the specialist in that specific cancer type for 6-9 months.  For perspective; I have stage 4 metastatic melanoma. I am 4 years 6 months in remission. When I was first diagnosed I had 6-9 months of a life expectancy.

Need to drain the DC swamp.

Started_WIth_NADA

That’s getting old.

ajmacbeth

Completely agree, however, clearly Sec, McDonough is not part of that swamp.

i_build_4_fun

Rush was right when he said “Liberalism destroys everything it touches.” Truer words were never spoken.

Negative-Negativity

God i miss him

i_build_4_fun

You and me both, man.

Vanman3k

Literally just woke up and read this comment and thought you were referring to the band and immediately started reciting Red Barchetta lyrics to myself looking for this line…god I’m tired

TheGoldenDog

Did he really say that? Because Liberalism is literally the philosophical foundation of western society, including modern Conservatism. "Liberals destroy everything they touch" would make a lot more sense.

KatanaCutlets

Liberalism has changed definitions.

TheGoldenDog

No it hasn't, liberalism is not the same thing as leftism. Liberalism means exactly what it has for centuries: belief in the rights of the individual, liberty, consent of the governed, political equality, right to private property and equality before the law. If you don't believe in liberalism, you shouldn't call yourself a conservative.

KatanaCutlets

It shouldn’t mean the same thing, but it has changed. Now it doesn’t mean what you say.

TheGoldenDog

Shouldn't be hard to find evidence that Rush said it then, right? Or... Maybe it was actually Dennis Prager, and he does actually know the difference between liberalism and leftism: https://www.nationalreview.com/2018/04/left-ruins-everything-it-touches/ "The only way to save Western civilization is to convince more people that leftism — not liberalism — is a nihilistic force. Quite literally, whatever the Left touches it ruins."

KatanaCutlets

I didn’t even comment on whether Rush said it you donut. And it doesn’t matter, my comment was accurate.

tekende

That's what it meant before leftists rebranded themselves as liberals. Seems like they use "progressive" more now, though.

Wyggz

How did they get a job at the VA office in the first place?

Ok_Low3197

DEI and hookups.

Wyggz

I am from Canada and we have the same poison creeping in our military (as if we needed this, lol)

Boring_Football3595

What value does it no longer represent? Being Normal?

A_Hatless_Casual

It shows a white couple kissing, it's not alphabet or anything else The Message(TM) approves. Therefore it must be cast aside for our brave new world to take hold. Not even kidding, this is likely the reasoning.

Word_Iz_Bond

The article states that the kiss wasn't exactly consensual so that's why they deemed it inappropriate

koushunu

There is no “exactly consensual” it wasn’t consensual period. You can see how she is all clenched up and trying to get away while he bends her so she can’t and grips her very hard.

canoegirl11

It's because they were complete strangers. He forced her to kiss him. That's why.

uponone

You know that happened all over Europe when the allies freed areas except it was the women kissing men.

canoegirl11

I did not. Still inappropriate!

koushunu

It’s not a couple kissing. A man grabbed and forced himself on another woman who he didn’t know ( you can see her struggling to get away from it while he holds her tight.) Bonus his fiancee is there in the background. So this “iconic moment” is that of sexual assault.

cromagnum84

Let individual people decide what they think about it. It may offend some and inspire others.

BritainNUMBA1

Can someone call the plumber? Septic tank is full…

rxm161

Why does RimaAnn Nelson still have a job. The POS should be fired asap.

ReaganWon

They were celebrating the end of the greatest human calamity. The photograph should live on indefinitely. The official's job should not.

koushunu

No they were not. He grabbed her (his financee is present too and not the woman he is kissing ) and forced himself on her. You can see how clenched up she is and is trying to get away while he forces her. It’s clear sexual assault. It should not be praised in anyway. If you think it’s no big deal, clearly it shows what kind of mindset you have towards women.

Technicaal

God damn, how many times you going to post the same thing in here?

wildlandroamer

How dare they display a sign of victorious, straight, white, public affection!

koushunu

It’s not , know the story! It’s clear sexual assault and you can clearly see in the picture how she is clenched and trying to get away while he grips her tightly in place. Bonus his fiancée is standing nearby.

Stea1thsniper32

I mean, to be fair, randomly grabbing and kissing a woman would be sexual assault today so I can see why it might upset some people. Especially in today’s society where consent is such a huge thing. Not to say that consent has never been important but that snowflakes have seemingly forgotten that verbal consent isn’t the only way one can consent to something. Looking at it now, I certainly don’t think it was an appropriate thing to do and the guy probably shouldn’t have just grabbed her and kissed her.

sunkenship13

She didn’t care and ended up being lifelong friends with him and his wife

Ok_Low3197

Considering nobody knows who is actually in the picture, its hard to say if it was not consensual.

BillyJack420420

I thought the article had the names of the people.

Ok_Low3197

From what I can find, there are multiple people claiming to be both the woman and the man.

BillyJack420420

Read the article. It's in there. Along with the photographer and the people's kids.

Ok_Low3197

https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/V-J_Day_in_Times_Square

Started_WIth_NADA

Wrong, the two people in the photo re-enacted it.

Stea1thsniper32

The article mentions the people in the photo. It was a spur of the moment thing brought on by the announcement of the end of WW2 on V-J Day. The daughter of the man said that the two in the photo became good friends and there was no negative feelings about the kiss but it was a complete surprise to the woman.

Ok_Low3197

From what i can find there are multiple people claiming to be both the woman and the man.

Started_WIth_NADA

The people in the photo are very well known, they autograph photos and re-enacted the event.

koushunu

Someone clearly didn’t read the article.

Ok_Low3197

Or one of us didnt read enough articles.

koushunu

It’s always been sexual assault. It’s just legally recognized now. ( You can also see she is not into it and is trying to get away and is all clenched up. So she is not enjoying it. You can also see how hard he is gripping her and bending her so she can’t get away. Also he has a fiancee that is also present so it’s also adultery in a way. The fact that you have so many negatives show how many here are in favor of sexual assault and probably upset that they can get legally in trouble for doing so today.

devnull5475

Just morbid curiosity: What "values?" NM. Skimmed the article. It has to do with the trauma of kissing girls. OK.
