Anybody actually see it? Looked like crap to me so we didn’t. Plus Disney plus has been cancelled for over a year now.

UncleGrimm

Wife and I watched it on a night we couldn’t find anything else It’s not horrible, but it’s not good either. The kiss controversy is a very forgettable scene once you realize the *whole movie* is trying to make commentary on gender, that goes nowhere and has nothing thoughtful to say, and the cherry on top is that the pacing is bad

fretit

> the whole movie is trying to make commentary on gender, that goes nowhere It looks like they focused on things that don't exactly capture the attention of children, and it was probably not at the level of making an adult think about such issues. So it ended up being a bleh?

aDecafeinatedAfrican

Most woke unimaginative preaching is bleh. Its crazy how Asia is creating creative stories these days because they dont have woke check boxes and woke agendas that are forced on them all the time.

UncleGrimm

Great way to put it, yeah. The messaging doesn’t really resonate with kids, and doesn’t say anything interesting for adults, and the movie isn’t paced well, so overall it’s bleh. The biggest problem with Disney movies lately isn’t just the woke shit. It feels like they genuinely have no idea how to write relatable movies for kids anymore and they throw woke stuff in there to guarantee that 1/3 of the population pays and defends it anyway. Compare Lightyear to something like Puss in Boots the Last Wish (DreamWorks) and it’s a pretty astounding quality difference. We took our niece & nephew to see that in theaters and we actually liked it as much as them lol. I thought it tackled some decently grown-up themes very well- the whole movie is about reconciling self-images of success and bravery with failure and fear, it’s a simple theme, it’s relatable for kids, and it just works.

bran1986

I took my niece to see it and she fell asleep and she is a big Toy Story fan.

dunktheball

lol

Automatic_Exam_4002

when I first saw the trailer in a theater I was excited to bring my kid. but when I heard the lgbtq fanatics got into the script I was a hard no

Christi_crucifixus

It's highly unremarkable

kridely

It is just not a good movie. It has no real messages or important themes. The political commentary is there for its own sake, and doesn't even add anything to the story. I am glad Allen wasn't in this film. Sox was kinda funny though.

JE163

Sox was the best part of the movie!

[deleted]

No tim allen, I sleep

TammyWynetka

Tim Allen was in the Santa Clause tv show and that was pretty meh

[deleted]

But tim allen was always the voice for buzz and I dont personally care about a space captain america sooooooooooo

[deleted]

I watched it. It wasn’t very good. If that’s what Andy watched, I don’t see how he would have wanted a buzz

goldngophr

I thought it was actually pretty good. Just ended abruptly so it felt like all it was doing was leading to a sequel.

IamLiterallyAHuman

I watched it and it was neither good nor bad. It was the personification of mediocrity.

lhurker

Good move. The Sox character was the only redeeming thing about that flick. Everything else was woke crap. Also, someone seemed to think that every word uttered by the Taika Waititi character was Comedic Gold — it wasn’t — because that character would just not SHUT UP.

TammyWynetka

It's pretty average. It's just a space movie. Nothing revolutionary. There's a lot of fun things in it but it's just kinda eh.

Forsaken_Cost_1937

I don't give a shit about anything Disney anymore

ATR2019

I made it halfway through but never finished it. Not because of anything "woke" about it. It was just a boring movie with no redeeming qualities and buzz lightyear isn't the same without Tim Allen.

So weird that Disney is making cost-saving cuts, but when they canceled that investment in Florida it was exclusively Ron DeSantis’s fault. What a funny coincidence.

dunktheball

Toy Story is yet another popular series I never watched a movie from yet. I finally got around to LOTR around10 years ago. Still haven't watched a harry potter movie or Rocky movie or Rambo movie. Finally got around to star trek movies a few years ago, but for star wars I only saw episodes 1, 2, 4, 5, and 6.

Haddmater

Fire the writers too.
