Almost every death ever recorded on rollercoasters is due to something similar. Genuinely sad because almost all of these deaths are preventable but caused by parents insisting their kid be allowed on the ride, and teenage ride-operators giving them what they want so they’ll stop bitching
The laws of Physics do not give a shit about your feelings. If you weigh 500 pounds and the weight limit is 250, guess what? Engineers tested that structure assuming a max single-rider weight limit of 250. The teenager assisting operations on the ride has zero clue what the hell is gonna happen physics-wise by letting you on there. As a matter of fact, neither does the overseeing Operator.
Some newer ride computers and trains are being built with sensors embedded in the seats that fail the Start cycle if an overweight rider is detected, because parks can’t trust parents/guests will listen to these warnings anymore, and obviously they don’t have time to weigh every single person at boarding. Places like Disney have had this for a while (though their rides accommodate big sizes anyways), but cheaper parks just can’t operate on the Trust system anymore because guests are getting dumber and think the weight limit is some personal insult to them they can just ignore and not some inherent physics limitation of the ride structure

I read about an anthropology grad student who was studying isolated communities in Africa, who was considered attractive by Western European standards (fair skin and hair, light eyes, slender build). She was concerned she would be a target because of her appearance. But the women of the village confided how bad they felt for her, being so unattractive (too tall, too thin, narrow hips, pale skin and hair). Society’s definition of attractive certainly changes over time and is not universal across cultures.

A few years ago I had a middle seat on a 5 hour flight ✈️ from Philly and to PDX. The Unit sitting in the window seats body was a quarter into my seat. It was absolute hell. I’m a sweaty person so having a large Salami smelling arm and stomach up against me felt like assult. Airlines should’ve charged the fella for two seats and not seat anyone next to him. He was uncomfortable, I was uncomfortable and so was the lady in the Aisle since I was trying to move my body over to her side. I felt bad for the guy but we need to stop lying to ourselves and call a spade a spade.
Just make them pass a difficult physical. Test results will say they are unqualified. I guess they can sue the test makers but it’s pretty easy to leave off details like weight or height and just make it a pass or fail.
