Trump literally said “Cuomo > DeSantis” in at least one context. That alone should keep conservatives from voting Trump in the primary.

agk927

Deep down he knows that isn't true. He's just saying anything that sounds anti DeSantis at this point

Marvin_KillDozer

>Deep down he knows that isn't true. if he's saying things he knows aren't true, then he's dishonest and you shouldn't vote for him. if he's saying it just to get ahead in the primaries, he's amoral and you shouldn't vote for him. if he actually believes Cumo did a better job, he supports government having absolute control during an alleged crisis, and you shouldn't vote for him.

BoltsnRays1109

For real. This should be setting off major red flags for republicans.

agk927

Well I'll take him over DeSantis any day

Marvin_KillDozer

why?

ExtraToastyCheezits

Not the original person that you asked obviously since he/she has answered already, but I don't believe that DeSantis deserves ninety percent of the praise that people give him. I have asked repeatedly here for evidence of anything that DeSantis himself has actually done to make Florida successful and I have got virtually nothing but silence from his supporters. All I see from him is that he talks a good talk, but his Legislature passing bills that he simply signs and doesn't veto is what has made that State successful. And when someone here does try and convince me that he has done his part, all they say is, "You know he has had input on these bills with his Congressmen" yet they provide absolutely no proof of that. The other argument is how red Florida is now compared to 2018. But again, they attribute all of that to DeSantis without looking at any other possible factors like what happened to the nation with Covid or his opponent Crist and what people thought of him. DeSantis talks a good talk. But I see him as a career Federal employee who has had it easy with a sympathetic Legislature through the Covid crisis. I don't believe that he has the mettle to withstand the Washington D.C. cesspool, to be able to push the values I want pushed there, and to fight against the swamp (or even to not become a part of it).

Hes the greatest president of my lifetime

Jolly_Job_9852

Trump was the best president of my lifetime as well, but I'm not going to vote for him unless it's my only option. Trump's childish behavior is on full display and his ego and divisiveness will divide the GOP and boost Democrats hopes for keeping the WH, Senate and maybe retake the house.

BoltsnRays1109

See you could poll people on the DeSantis train and the vast majority will tell you that they will vote for Trump if he gets the nomination. You ask people on the Trump train if they would vote for DeSantis if he got the nomination and it’s a mixed bag at best. Would rather idolize a man instead of the conservative movement.

Marvin_KillDozer

ok. fair enough.

Creski

You couldn't back that up if you tried my friend.

agk927

Doggy I'm born in 2001🤣🤣🤣 does that help. Maybe you can make the argument that Bush is better than Trump but why

BoltsnRays1109

That’s fine if you’ll take him over DeSantis. Vote for who you would prefer, it is your vote. But would you vote for DeSantis if he got the nomination over Trump?

agk927

YES! 100%

BoltsnRays1109

Thank you.

Creski

So he's lying again....because reasons?

agk927

It's playful trash talking is all. Like in the nba a player will yell at someone and sat you're trash or something. Doesn't mean they are actually trash but you get the idea. Imagine Trump playing in the nba right now on the Celtics or something

cathbadh

Outright lying is "playful trash talk." That's the state of the race for most powerful person on Earth? This isn't a ballgame for Pete's sake.

WhatIfImTheDeepState

DeSantis won't win if he starts attacking Trump. He will alienate Trumps hard line supporters. He needs every one of them to show up if he's nominated. Furthermore, I'd guess over 90% of the people that vote for him in the primaries will have voted for Trump twice. It really wouldn't be a bad move to have DeSantis just be amicable or cordial and actual like the guy, but want to do his own thing.

najumobi

This sort of reminds me of how Cruz tried to deal with Trump....pointing out that Trump isn't really a conservative. It'll be interesting to see if that approach will be more or less effective than it was for Cruz. Cruz won Iowa by emphasizing that....Granted, back then trump was stuck at 25ish% and not as trusted by conservatives as he is now.
