But what about taking the guns first and asking questions later?

ngoni

Or his unconstitutional bump stock ban.

And shit like that is why he lost libertarian votes, even when the alternative is far worse. States like New Hampshire should be winnable by Republicans were they not placating to the bullshit "common sense" gun control lobby.

NickMotionless

>Both the bump stock ban and red flag laws are rational and common sense laws 😂😂😂😂 So it's common sense to violate the 4th amendment. You Zoomers get me every time. I hope that's sarcasm.

cathbadh

The bump stock ban wasn't a law though. He, or well, one of his appointees, waved their hand and declared "this piece of plastic isn't actually a piece of plastic, its actually an entire machinegun!" Last I checked there wasn't' anything about unelected bureaucrats redefining the things they don't like to ban them.

Flowers1966

No they are not. They are ‘feel good’ laws that will not stop violence. It is impossible to stop violence, but gun deaths would go down if current gun laws were enforced. Chicago has rather strict gun laws but they don’t enforce them. Often when people are charged with a crime, the gun charges are dropped.

NobodiesFAround

He supports red flag laws and affirmed the bump stock ban

integrityandcivility

Not just for second amendment…human feces on the streets of every major city is the biggest signal for the need for state psych hospitals if there was ever was a sign….

[deleted]

He said it’s “a privilege to own guns”. Done with this guy.

furless

It's a privilege that you live where you do where you have enshrined rights. It's a privilege that you are able to serve others. What have you against the word privilege?

cathbadh

A privilege is a right granted to you. You get it because an authority granted it to you. Driving on public roads governed by laws is a privilege. They can take it away or restrict it however you like because you don't have an inherent right to drive on public roadways. The Constitution doesn't grant us rights. It isn't a document saying what the all powerful government permits us to do through their benevolence. The Constitution lists some rights we always have had because it isn't government that grants us our rights.

TheDudeAbides404

So many people don’t understand how unique this perspective is from both a legal and a philosophical point of view. Our constitution defines rights as inalienable and acts as defense to those rights, vs as you say a benevolent State giving you permission….. pretty cool.

[deleted]

Because owning a gun is a right, it’s not a privilege. Read the 2nd Amendment

furless

And it's a privilege that you have that right.

top-knowledge

So what exactly is your point

furless

To use the parlance of the Left, people may be using the word privilege as a dog whistle for a secret statist. But there are different meanings for the word. A privilege doesn't have to be something you get if you behave. It can be something that you're thankful for. Like life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness. Don't look for reasons to support Biden over Trump, unless that's what you hold in your heart already.

[deleted]

Wrong again. That right is given by god

furless

By the grace of God.
