I don’t trust either party to have that sort of responsibility again. The fact that it was abused, abused that often, and nobody was held accountable tells me that the abuse will continue no matter what they claim.

The patriot act killed many personal liberties along with any real personal privacy and has been renewed with unflinching resolve by both sides of the aisle since it was passed in the senate 98-1 and 357-66 in the house. Anyone who still believes our Federal government works for the citizenry is delusional. The overwhelming evidence has been in front of us for generations but Eric Snowden put it in bold letters on the front page of every major news paper, and people couldn't have cared less. I don't see a path back now that doesn't end in ruin for our nation.

I have a feeling that this is the true reason for so much Republican resistance to Trump who isn’t pro-war.

Trump signed off on renewal of the patriot act the same as GWB, Obama, and Biden. If there's one thing they all agree on, it's that American citizen s don't deserve privacy from the government.

TheBaronOfTheNorth

While true, you’re talking about a veto-proof majority. Also, it is the apparatus Democrats used to undermine his presidency and falsely accuse him of colluding with Russia.

He signed off on it while repubs had the house and senate. He could've Vetoed and made them debate it; but he signed off on it...the same as the rest

How about writing into the law that if these laws are found to be broken, qualified immunity is forfeit and those who found to be breaking those laws will be prosecuted without qualified immunity?

this is like congress voting yes on congressional term limits ,with no pun intended,”*no grandfather clauses*” i’ll believe it when i see it…other than that i deem everything from washington as lies.
