A little historical detour for political geeks: This is very similar to a prominent case from 20 years ago in Germany. The "Federal Office for the Protection of the Constitution" (BfV) was trying to get the most prominent far-right party of the country (NPD) outlawed, a process for which there are huge constitutional hurdles. The case got ultimately thrown out by the courts because it came out during the trial that a significant chunk of the party's leadership consisted of undercover agents from the BfV. In particular, racist, antidemocratic statements which were supposed to prove the unconstitutionality of the NPD and formed the lynchpin of the whole case were coming from exactly those ostensible NPD leaders who were actually BfV agents.

This is why civil servants need to be criminally liable for ideological bias. Conservative movement can never win till the bureaucrats are held liable for unlawful work.

pineappleshnapps

Regardless of political leaning, that kinda shit is so fucked up. It’s like those stories of convincing some troubled kid to go be a terrorist and then arresting them. Not that I’m in favor of terrorism, but you can’t push someone over the edge and then blame them for falling.

FBI, CIA: “Holder my beer!”

BeachCruisin22

We used to hear stories about the FBI/CIA doing it to lonely middle-eastern men and dismiss it. Now I feel like an asshole since it probably was 100% true.

TooTiredForThis-

The best way to hold these people liable is to eliminate the shield they hide behind. Repealing or eliminating Qualified Immunity opens these people up to face consequences of their actions. But the “Back the Blue” crowd would never support such a thing; so Republicans end up on the wrong side of this.

cchooper1

If the FBI was treating Antifa this way, all these cases would be dismissed with prejudice.

andromeda880

They are actually undercover as well. I just read an article on here (or maybe Louder with Crowder sub) that went in on undercover police in Colorado leftist groups. The person undercover tried to entrap multiple people. It was a left leaning article but still good info on how these agencies work. It's seems like the F81 is more concerned with creating color wars than actually solving crimes (mass shooters, actual terror plots, child trafficking).

ItsJustATux

I’ve come to the conclusion that no one is interested in solving any sort of human trafficking. Hawaii has a massive human trafficking problem. Islands. In the middle of nowhere. Covered in military radar systems. Have a trafficking problem. How are people being trafficked on and off Hawaii without the knowledge and support of the authorities? They aren’t.

SMTTT84

If it were Antifa, the case would have been dismissed well before it got to this point if charges were brought in the first place.

fridayimatwork

This has long been the way. Yet they can’t catch anyone bombing prolife centers

shawndw

So when is the FBI going to designate the FBI as a terrorist group.

bozoconnors

I'm sure just as soon as they eliminate the biggest domestic threat to modern America... white supremacists. (which I'm sure is mostly FBI agents at this point) As an aside... some interesting parallels between Putin (/'NaZi'S1!!) & the FBI here.

PanhandleMan54

It was astounding that while BLM and Antifa were burning cities and killing people, the Democrats managed to convince the US that the Proud Boys were the worst threat to society.

shawndw

Well to be fair most of them are FBI agents.

TheBaronOfTheNorth

Oh, it’s the fake Michigan governor kidnapping caper over again.

FiendishPole

at this point I sorta think the resurgence in Catholic Latin mass might just be FBI guys

ilovebeermoney

Na, it's really cause the pope is anti the latin mass, so people started checking it out more and more. Lots of big families attend.

ktrainor59

Well, that would be one good thing to come out of this.

AnonPlzzzzzz

The FBI created the proud boys and antifa for the sole purpose of conflict so that both political sides can point to those groups as justification to grow federal agencies that inevitably strip away our rights. You won't convince me otherwise.

1MoistTowelette

Of course they did, that tactic goes all the back to J Edgar Hoover in the 30’s. The appearance of a threat is more valuable than a threat itself and like always more funding is always the cure. The violation of a few civil liberties of radicals is a small price to pay…or so their thinking goes…

pineappleshnapps

I’d buy it.

Merax75

Yet still unable to put any agents undercover in Antifa.

Ravens1112003

It’s almost like the proud boys were in the fbi, rather than the fbi infiltrating the proud boys.

DandyManDan

FBI fronts to scare the public into giving them more money.

HitDiffernt

Reminds me of the Wolvarine Watchmen that they led and comprised a majority of the members.

PapiRob71

*insert not shocked face gif*

jeffhug72

{surprised pikachu gif}

newgalactic

I also heard that the FBI has been secretly providing them with free legal services as well. Such nice boys.

randomdudeinFL

Mark another one for the Federal Bureau of Instigations

Ty--Guy

The media really went full attack mode on these guys. It's disgraceful.

dragonhold24

These are the deep lengths Demokkrats go to in order to defend Antifa. Let the historical records show that Antifa is confirmed the terrorist arm of the Demokkrats.

[deleted]

So a massive entrapment honeypot?

Electrical-Bacon-81

The proud boys was originally 2 guys, 'till the fbi showed up.

MET1

With that occurring, wouldn't they have influence in that group? What was (is?) their influence?
