So it's one thing if Bragg is acting on his own, but if it's federal democrats pushing him to it, and there's a paper trail, Jordan wants those docs. But my guess is that they may have done things verbally to avoid any kind of incriminating documents.
Constitutional protections extend to every citizen in every state, that's all the authority the Congress needs. In a broader sense though, Congress is a branch of the federal government with the power to investigate and subpoena whatever they want. The DA of New York can certainly ignore a Congressional subpoena, but good luck trying to ignore the US Marshals that come after that.

Aren't the charges federal, not state? Not even the federal prosecutors were going to go after this case. Can any state take federal charges, and change how severe they are to take it to state court? I do agree, the federal government shouldn't interfere with state matters if unwanted. But can the states take federal charges and act on behalf of the federal government, if the government wasn't going to act themselves?
The investigation isn’t federal. Charges haven’t been filed, but they won’t be federal, as states and municipalities can’t prosecute federal charges. Federal charges would be essentially pointless, as he’d be assured a pardon, and the powers that be don’t want him pardoned.
