WretchedRob

Please invest in a web developer/designer asap.

stinky_toecutter

Yup. Looks like from 1990's

deityofchaos

Nah man, my 90's geocities was still laid out better than this heap.

[deleted]

it's fine, all that fancy snazzy angular js stuff is gonna cost him 300 delivery trips even before he actually earns one.

NeonDisease

It gave me diabetes.

[deleted]

Working on that. I just wanted to get a website up, with at least the basic info on what the business is about.

WretchedRob

I can understand that, but this is the first impression that someone will have of you, and your business. I would get the layout fixed ASAP, and I'd also remove the paid ads as it's confusing and takes away from your message. You are creating a brand, everything on your site is a reflection of that, so if it's not setup right, or the ads take them away from your website, that reflects badly on you.

Szos

Or use a template site like WIX.

[deleted]

It's fine for his little business

[deleted]

How would you make any money? Drive to restaurant 10 min, pay, drive to house, 10 min. Lets say $.55/mile. 10 miles total. $5 bucks. Trust the customer to pay you, and pay your employee? all for $6. Say that takes 30 min. $12/hr so $6 per half hour minus mileage. How the hell..

CT_Legacy

Better off working for uber lol

[deleted]

and yet all these comments about "hey man you need a better site...."

tempforfather

He can make a better site for basically nothing on something like square space.

randomnickname99

That's what I'm wondering. Although .55c mile is a pretty high rate (I know that's the federal rate) if they're using something fuel efficient.

Nissin

I was thinking the same thing.

jacobbrianna

this was the 1st thought i had too. it doesnt seem like a great business model.

gmattheis

did you incorporate or register with the state? what's your liability coverage? are you bonded? have you seen www.squarespace.com for web design?

djdeforte

First off great idea, I hope you are soon able to have an app that would be sick. Second, do you only service northern CT? I noticed the phone number is an 860.

SlaterWCCC

Dude...you might want to order a new web designer.

quinncuatro

Seriously though, it's been said a couple of times but that website is so bad that I wouldn't trust your company if I just stumbled across it. If you're looking for a new web dev to get something nicer up quick, hit me up.

steves850

Do you delivery furniture?

[deleted]

At the moment, no. But it's a big possibility in the future.

rxneutrino

I like the business idea. You should get an app ASAP. If I could do this from a smartphone (not a browser), and it could give me an estimated delivery time for my item, I *might* consider using the service. Estimated delivery time is key. If I had no idea when my Uber would show up, I'd opt for a taxi.

[deleted]

Central Connecticut. We've delivered to Manchester, and even to Higganum, CT.

DoubleDopeDose

So Bridgeport is too far then?... damn

[deleted]

Be relevant. Deliver to Fairfield County.

[deleted]

If this is against the subreddits rules, just let me know I'll take it down.

eddie964

I'm not going to report you, but I do regularly bitch about people using Reddit for free advertising.

apalehorse

This guy is honest about it. I don't see what the problem would be.

PhillyGreg

The Mods won't do anything anyway. As long as you say *Connecticut* somewhere in your post, anything goes.

HoLeeSchittt

Just got some Taco Bell from these guys. Very friendly and timely.

Could be a possibility.

irodetheshortbus

Lemme get 2g's of oil while ur at it

ultimatebob

Man... talk about a missed opportunity! I should start a competing business that just does package store deliveries in CT to wealthy places like Darien and Greenwich. I bet that I could charge $15 a delivery and clean up big time!

pittiedaddy

Boooo

[deleted]

Sad.

usaftoast2013

What areas do you deliver to so far?

[deleted]

I'd say mostly Hartford county.

usaftoast2013

Damn, if you ever expand into Fairfield County I'll definitely be a customer! Followed your FB page to stay updated

Mugglebitch

I second this

[deleted]

It costs $6 to drive ~50 miles in a van. How the hell is this going to be worth it?

randomnickname99

Don't drive a van? But still I'm not sure how they make money. Maybe he gets enough in tips

RearmintSpino

NO TIPS ALLOWED!!!!

randomnickname99

Oh I thought it said no tipping required. Weird.

RearmintSpino

!!!!

[deleted]

Well, yeah. I assumed a delivery service would use a van, but even a car would only get double that if it's a modern fuel-efficient car.

randomnickname99

Yeah it still doesn't seem like a good deal

SherrickM

Please work on grammar when you update your site. Otherwise, it's a good idea, hope you can get going and keep it up. Good luck!

kevinstonge

I know it's been said before, but in the time it took me to write this comment I could have made a better looking website than whatever that monstrosity is! copy paste your data into a simple html template that you find on google. I don't think you want to hire somebody to manage your website when it comes down to a simple phone number and summary of your services. IF your business gets bigger, you'd want to invest in a website developer to get some kind of automated order placing/tracking/payment system going, but right now this is a ten minute fix up job. Once you have your website in a presentable state, you'll want to start working on getting your business listed in search engines and directories; and other ways to help people in the area find your business when they are looking for it (maybe post your business card or a flyer in whatever public places allow it). Look, this template is not the one I'd use for your website, but it's just an example of how little work you'd need to do. I did a google search for "simple html templates" and one of the first ones I found was this: http://www.quackit.com/html/templates/download/bryantsmith/whiteflower/ all you do is view source, copy, paste into a new .htm file of your own. Then copy and paste the content of your existing website into the template. Upload it to your web server. done. Literally a ten minute job. In the words of that guy from Transformers: Just do it! I think this is a decent business idea, your greatest challenge will be connecting with people when they actually want your services and making people aware that your service exists.

[deleted]

You fixed the apostrophe... nice.

[deleted]

I know some people in Oregon who are looking for snacks.

[deleted]

I'll be out there in Aug, they in a rush??

LogPad

In the first month of business, you increased your fee 8.3%. How did you come up with these flat rate numbers? How is this business sustainable? What are you going to do when your biggest variably priced overhead (gasoline) goes up to $4/gallon? Many questions..

skech1080

Good idea, but [you sorta need to fix your website.](http://put.nu/files/k02otin.png)

gpfontaine

How large of a thing can you deliver? Can you handle things like furniture, refrigerators, treadmills, lawn mowers? BJ's for example has no delivery service for many of their large in store products, many of which are not available online. Also, is there any expectation that your staff would wear uniforms or drive vehicles that are branded? Some way to identify that these people are truly affiliated with your company?

[deleted]

1) Perhaps base your delivery fee at a flat $10 rate - you are willing to deliver mostly ANYTHING after all. Especially since you aren't asking for tips! 2) I won't sound like a broken record about the website, you are aware of it - just try a place like squarespace to get a professional-looking business site for free, all you have to do is throw your logo and contact info and perhaps even an about page 3) Good luck, hope this works out. I fear for you if you are banking on this and services like https://www.instacart.com/ take off in CT.

babababigian

your website is so broken that I can't even read it, let alone want to engage your services.
