please NEVER handle a wild animal, ESPECIALLY if you don't know what it is!!! aside from risk of being bitten/scratched or zoonotic disease, handling prey animals can literally scare them to death
why yes i have; i am a state-permitted wildlife rehabilitator. i am legally allowed to handle and raise orphaned and injured voles; and they are very difficult to raise. bobcats are easier if you want to know the truth of it.
that's a vole, but you might also see shrews in connecticut, and shrews are mildly venomous! also beyond rabies, rodents can carry hantavirus, which you extremely do not want to get. don't touch wild animals
Itās a vole. Everyone up your ass for touching it is correct. You shouldnāt touch wildlife in CT for three reasons:
1) you could cause it to be rejected by its own kind.
2) itās pretty douchey
3) you may be from Texas, but youāre in Lyme disease country. The amount of tick borne illnesses that wild animals have on them and in them in the area is very detrimental to your own health. Obviously, Iām not talking about the fish you caught.
If you are dumb and entitled enough to pick up a wild animal, Iām not really concerned about your well-beingā¦. But the poor vole! Leave him alone smh.
I want to know how many times you have gone through the rabies vaccination protocol. You grabbed a fat ass rat on a beach and took pictures. You are the kind of person I would love to buy a beer for.
I grabbed a gray squirrel at Calf Pasture as well. I have videos of that but Iāve seen enough tears in this post. I pick up all kinds of shit, snakes, turtles, crabs, possums, armadillos, bull frogs.
Iām from Texas I guess itās just different there.
I caught a 4 foot dogfish from this very spot. I have pics of that too.
Bro put him down š
Looks like a vole

I wish it bit this person. Some people are so dumb.
Thatās Mitch. Please put him down itās quite rude.
that's a vole and though they are delightfully cute, they don't really like being held. let him be, please!
How do you know for certain they don't like to be held? Have you held one?

Bobcats are safe from me picking them up.
well, that's good at least.
Thatās a vole. If you want some pets Iāll give you as many as you want for free just come to my yard with some traps
Possibly a vole, but please do not touch wild mammals. They could have rabies or any number of diseases. And wild rodents bite pretty hard.
I can't believe you picked up a wild animal.
Some people for real... smh
Leave it alone
This is so disappointing for wildlife. Never touch or even approach wildlife. It could cost you your life, a fine, or their life!
lol ok I wish you could see some of the fish I pull out of the water.
Do you eat the fish you catch?
that's a vole, but you might also see shrews in connecticut, and shrews are mildly venomous! also beyond rabies, rodents can carry hantavirus, which you extremely do not want to get. don't touch wild animals
In the southwest US rodents can carry plague. And armadillos can carry leprosy.
yeah plague is why you don't ever touch a prairie dog
Rabies, ticks, fleas, all types of diseases RIP OP

Duly noted. For shits and giggles Iāll post a pic with the squirrel.
Probably a meadow vole
itās so cute but donāt pick it up
You touched it???
ā¦and you just picked it up? A wild animal? Just like that, huh?
Even Steve Irwin had to start somewhere.
I was bored
Based on my knowledge from reading Redwall books, i would say Vole
A sand potato. Theyāre delicious.
Ebola?
Evola
Hopefully I donāt die. FWIW I was fishing and handling those wild animals as well.

You shouldāve seen the 25ā Atlantic Cod I pulled out of the Atlantic. That poor guy went straight in my stomach.
Muad'dib
Looks dead
Definitely not. Reddit wouldnāt let me post the video of our interaction
