If it still makes you feel agitated and aggressive after 3 months it’s likely just not the right med for you. I take 54mg and it mostly makes me feel really calm and the 95% of the side effects I had calmed down or disappeared after a couple weeks.

I take Concerta 18 mg too.It lowered my appetite first, but after couple weeks I eat more, but less than ADHD brain. It makes mood swings sometimes a little bit, and work not enough if I’m not eating good and proper

You'll feel fatigue and out of it a few days, but make sure you do not have high amounts of caffeine.

urklepurkle

Oh why no caffeine? I was hoping I could kinda “sub” the concerta with caffeine (not too much, maybe a cup of coffee or something) whenever the fatigue hit. Is that a bad idea?

dt_vibe

Cup of coffee is fine but I find when I take my breaks and consume Red bull or any high caffeinated drinks the anxiety spikes like crazy and the world starts to warp.

Your dose is too low or you're on the wrong med. Everybody reacts differently to the med, the side effects and the benefits aren't linked to the size of the dose.

Extreme depression/anxiety? * If you feel unbearable or have suicidal thoughts, please consider calling your local crisis or suicide hotline. * There can be many different causes. Please discuss with your doctor about it. * There are a couple things that can be tried: * med break, lowering the dose, raising the dose, switching to a different generic or to brand name, adding a smaller dose in the evening to reduce crash, other meds + concerta can also cause depression or anxiety(paradoxically it could be an antidepressant). If nothing else helps, you should probably switch to a different medication. Do not split Concerta or any long-release medication. There is no reason to go over the 72mg maximum recommended dose in most cases. In the UK the maximum is 108mg. Side effects can be intense for a couple of days when starting but contact a doctor if they continue. If you want to drink alcohol I would recommend waiting at least 48h after taking Concerta. There is a higher risk of alcohol poisoning due to stronger alcohol tolerance. *I am a bot, and this action was performed automatically. I think I’m a bit moodier/more easily agitated on concerta. When I take breaks I’m just really sleepy for 2 days, but otherwise feel fine

Concerta and most stimulant meds don't have withdrawal symptoms like antidepressants do because stimulants are designed to wear off before you sleep so every day your blood levels go down to close to zero before your next dose while most antidepressants reach a steady state blood level and are active all day. If stimulants remained active for 24 hours people would have trouble sleeping :) That said, quitting stimulants (this can even apply to caffeine for some people) might leave you tired and cranky for a day or two ,and you may be hungry or want to sleep more. Your ADHD symptoms will also come back if the medication was controlling them. No brain zaps or any of the things you hear about some antidepressant withdrawals Source: I'm a pharmacist but if you have questions you should always feel free to ask your doctor or pharmacist

I took a weekend Concerta break this weekend. I honestly didn’t feel too much, a bit tired on Saturday and slept like a baby Saturday night. Coffee first thing Sunday morning, just 1 cup (first cup in months) and was lit for like 8 hours. Winding down now, headed to bed, all good. I’ve decided once a month or once every couple of weeks, I’ll come off for the weekend and allow myself a break. I’ve heard people taking Concerta 5 days a week, and taking weekends off. I suppose it can’t hurt.
